Anybody who has to manage a family knows that flexibility is the keyword to make everybody happy. Adjusting to the different members‘ needs can prove a real challenge. Podere Baiocco is a truly family run business and we have grown tremendously by all the challenges we had in our own family. One may even say that we have developed a strong talent for flexibility, which you will see reflected throughout Podere Baiocco - in the structure, in our services and how we cater to your needs.
The whole layout of the residence adapts to very individual and different needs. Whether it be the lone traveler who wishes for a B&B, full hotel service or a family who enjoys the privacy of a self-catering villa - for groups of up to 22 people we will arrange everything to make your holidays an unforgettable experience.
Our family does not live on Podere Baiocco, you‘ll have it all to yourself, but it was originally meant to be our family home and a lot of love and care went into the renovation of the historic farmhouse. You will notice, it feels just like a home.
Jacopo Baiocco purchased this villa in 1998
Our family group of 14 (ages 2 to 86) stayed at Villa Baiocco the week of November 19. First of all the house is beautiful, especially the grounds, and the views are wonderful. My favorite part of the day was waking up in the morning and looking out the bedroom window at the Umbrian countryside. Jacopo and his staff were accomodating in every possible way. We had both the welcome dinner and the special dinner to celebrate my wife's birthday, and I recommend them highly. The breakfasts were not lavish, but a very good value, and made it much easier to hit the road in the morning. The local village of Citta della Pieve is lovely, and you must see the Perugino in the Oratorio di Santa Maria dei Bianchi. Also highly recommend the Cafe degli Artisti for a good glass of wine, some antipasto and watch the world go by. Our favorite day trips were wine tastings at Altesino near Montalcino and at Felsina near Castelnuovo Berardenga, plus visits to Orvieto and Cortona. Altesino and Felsina are small family owned wineries, not big corporations and they offer gracious hospitalty. (you need a reservation) The view from Cortona of the valley below was the best of the week. Overall, a wonderful week, and hope we can return.
Our week stay at the Villa this October was something straight out of a fairytale book.
From the early planning stages of our trip, Jacopo was there to help facilitate every step of the way...not only recommending the best day trips for our group (14) but also making sure we were taken care of throughout our stay with transportation, fun events, and food options and reservations the entire time!
Fall in Umbria is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen, and there is nothing lost on this amazing property by booking later in the year. Our short brisk morning walks into town were so magical and serene with new and hidden gems to discover with each visit.
Jacopo and staff were exceptional and on-call even into the wee hours of the morning and always with huge smiles on their faces. He is the quintessential example of hospitality.
If the stars ever align that I would be so lucky to find myself in Italy, I would stay there again in a heartbeat!
Thank you everyone for the most magical and memorable experience and for making my first trip to Italy absolutely perfect!
We just returned to the US from a bucket list extended trip in Italy, most of which we were privileged to spend at Villa Biacco in Citta della Pieve. On the night we arrived (about 3 hours later than anticipated) the town and villa were a welcome site to weary travelers. But waking up to exploring the villa and grounds made us went to pinch ourselves to be sure we weren’t dreaming. It exceeded all expectations. My husband and I and close friends had rented the villa over 3 years ago and had invited many of our friends and family to join us over the course of the month. Having 7 bedrooms, each with its own bath, made sleeping arrangements easy and the huge kitchen and dining areas – both inside and out – made our happy hours and occasional meals in the villa a perfect place to share events of the day. I would also recommend sampling at least one meal made by the villa staff. The gnocchi with sausage in truffle sauce made me want to throw away all etiquette and lick my plate. And Jacopo’s tiramisu was like eating a delicious cloud. Jacopo is the perfect host – there whenever you needed him, but also made us feel like the villa was our home for the month. Lastly I cannot say enough about the ease of having Jacopo’s car service at our disposal. Several brave souls rented cars, but not wanting to navigate the windy smaller roads or unbelievable traffic in the cities, being able to be picked up and dropped off at the villa for either a transport or full-fledged tour made it feel like a real vacation – free from stress and yet being able to explore the region at our leisure. I cannot recommend the villa highly enough. If you are looking for a beautiful villa, attentive owner, a perfect location to explore Tuscany and Umbria and the ability to also just relax, this is the perfect location. I am counting the days until I can return.
The property description is accurate. In fact, a little understated.
I think the property is very well maintained and is a comfortable place to stay. The interior is well appointed and very comfortable. There are beautiful views of adjacent hills and valleys. Plenty of parking.
The owner was available mosts days to arrange for hired transportation or to address specific minor issues. He provided GREAT customer service.
I would definitely recommend this property to friends or relatives.
The restaurants in town we really enjoyed were Trattoria Comppetta Bruno, Ristorante Silvana, Taverna Del Perugino, Caffe Degli Artisti, and the restaurant at Hotel Vannucci, among others. We enjoyed them and went to each multiple times. The villa is a good central location to travel to Sienna, Montepulciano, Cività del Bagnoregio, Lake Trasimeno (with the historical markers for Hannibal's defeat of the Romans) and many other hill top towns.
Overall, we had a very good time.
This is 5 star all the way. If you are looking, stop. It doesn't get any better than this!
Beautiful-look at the pictures! Great location, great views, comfortable beds, all rooms with bathrooms, (some rooms with balconies) privacy. Pools, outdoor seating, bikes available. Washers and dryers, hairdryer too!
Terrifically prepared meal! (could I get the recipe for the black truffle gnocchi please?) Great reasonably priced wine for sale in the villa. (Didn't give me a headache as most wines do the next day after an evening of "generous consumption.") Jacobo was available each day to make travel arrangements or answer questions. Short walk to town. Townspeople were friendly but not much English spoken. No problem, download itranslate to your smart phone. Would we recommend this villa to friends? Absolutely!
Villa Baiocco is an absolute dream come true! Everything was exactly as described in the listing, and so much more. The villa and casa were both clean and well-maintained. The landscaping of the property is meticulous, and the surrounding vistas are breathtaking. Jacopo, the owner, is extremely friendly and was a pleasure to work with from the early stages of our planning throughout our entire stay. Our diverse group of 20 (most of whom had never met one another before) especially enjoyed the Welcome Dinner and breakfast provided by Jacopo and his staff. All had a wonderful time, whether exploring Rome, Florence or Siena, the hill towns including Orvieto and Montepulciano, wandering around Citta della Pieve, or just relaxing by the pool. I would recommend Villa Biaocco to anyone who wants a unique and memorable Italian experience in a relaxed and peaceful setting. Grazie mille !!
