Our unique home was built in the 1930's. We called this house our home for 10 years. When our family outgrew this home we decided to build a home in the large field directly behind Madeline's Place. Madeline's Place features a large kitchen, dining, and family room. The bedrooms are typical size to the homes of this era. Madeline's Place has many unique features that you don't typically find in homes built today. The original hardwood floors are throughout this home except the kitchen and bathroom. Large new windows surround the home and the home also features very tall ceilings. A wrap around porch and farmer's porch are all beautiful features that highlight this homes character.
I have lived in Ogunquit my entire life. I can't imagine living anywhere else. My husband and I have lived on this property for 25 years. In our opinion there is no other property in Ogunquit like this property. We have the luxury of being only minutes to Perkins Cove, Marginal Way, and Ogunquit Beach while enjoying the peacefulness of the country. We first lived in the garage apartment, moved into Madeline's Place, and finally built a home in the field. We have no plans to ever leave Pine Hill North.
Melissa Stapleton purchased this house in 1991
Madeline Perkins' home has been in my family for generations. When we moved into this property the large field was a hayfield. The house was in much need of repair. We knew this was going to be a very long journey for us, but we loved this property and had a vision for what it could become. My husband was determined to have a beautiful back yard. He mowed and raked the field until it became a large green yard. We remodeled both the house and the apartment. For the past 13 years we have had a year round tenant. When she decided unexpectedly to buy her own house, we decided to share this property with families visiting Ogunquit on vacation.
I don't usually write reviews, but my family and I had such a great experience with this rental I feel the need to say something. First off, let me say that the house was extremely clean upon arrival, and I am very particular about cleanliness. In most vacation rentals, I will wear my flip flops for the entire time as to not let my feet touch the floor. However, at Madeline's Place, I felt the need to remove my shoes at the front door (which is what we do at home). The homeowner was exceptionally accommodating and flexible with arrival time, which helped me to work around my young son's sleeping and eating schedules. The homeowner was also very responsive with answering any questions. The house has a newer washer/dryer, so that was very convenient. The grill was great, we used it for about half the dinners we spent in Ogunquit. The house is within walking distance of Perkins Cove and the entrance of the Marginal Way Walkway. There are two smaller beaches off the Marginal Way that we could walk to. If you want to go to the main beach in Ogunquit you may want to drive to that. Overall, the house was great, we had no issues. We would totally stay here again and we would highly recommend this property to others.
We absolutely loved this home!! The location was great, with easy access to the trolley and Perkins Cove. The house was very comfortable for the 6 of us and had everything we needed. Loved sitting on the front porch after a long day at the beach! We'd highly recommend this home. Jim and Dee
We loved the beautiful home just minutes walk from the beach, shops and restaurants. Melissa and Tim were accomodating and quick to respond to anything we needed. The house was clean, and comfortable and we had everything we needed to enjoy some family time. Thanks for a great experience!
A group of girlfriends and myself absolutely fell in love with Madeline's Place!! It was a VERY short walk to Perkins Cove and was the perfect size for our group of 5 women. We couldn't stop talking about how magical and dreamy this vacation home is and how we can't wait to come back!!! On top of all the absolutely perfect attributes to the home, Melissa was lovely to work with and very prompt to any requests.... Being from Texas, a warm heart goes a long way in our book so that just made the stay even more perfect!! Thank you Melissa for sharing your lovely home with us, we truly hope to be able to stay there again next October!!
Madeline's 0lace was the perfect choice for a long weekend getaway to one of our favourite places, Ogunquit. It is a renovated country cottage that is comfortable, immaculate, with no carpeting. it is extremely well maintained. The only issue which wasn't too much of an inconvenience was that there was only 1 bathroom, and not too large at that. Although the house is only a couple of minutes to Perkin's cove by foot, it is located on a quiet street and so we could walk to virtually any restaurant. Melissa was very obliging and was able to provide an allergy free environment for my family. thanks so much. we would definitely return on our next visit to Ogunquit.
My husband, kids, siblings and mom stayed here for a weekend to celebrate my mom's birthday. We loved it and wish we could've stayed longer! Madeline's Place is nice and bright with a beautiful porch to lounge on. It is one floor, which is ideal for anyone with babies or toddlers. There was plenty of space for everyone. The owners are very personable and coordinating this trip with them was very easy. We hope to visit again!
Madeline's Place is a beautiful home that is minutes away from Perkins Cove. Perkins Cove has been a tourist destination for many years. Fishing boats, sail boats, and recreational boats are on display in this very picturesque little town. No matter how many times you look at this quaint little cove you are in awe of its beauty. Ogunquit was once known as an artist colony, now it is known for so much more! The Marginal Way is a must for all visitors that come to Ogunquit. The Marginal Way is a 1 mile walking path, that connects Perkins Cove to Ogunquit Beach. The paved walking path sits above large cliffs that frame the view of the Atlantic Ocean. I have been walking the Marginal way for over 40 years and it still takes my breath away. Ogunquit Beach has the most beautiful, clean, and soft sand. A perfect spot for young and older children to enjoy the day too. When our children were younger we spent many days crabbing under the bridge. Today they are more interested in surfing, running, and skim boarding. There is always something for people of all ages to do in Ogunquit!
