Guestbook comments from the manager

Grab this place if you can!

I just returned from a week-long trip to Mirepoix where I stayed at Le Tardis. I had considered this place last year when I was thinking of travelling in this region because it had such great reviews. So I was a bit concerned when I searched again this year and discovered that it had new owners and of course no reviews. But I took a chance and now I can't imagine staying in a more beautiful place in this region of France. The new owners have taken an already lovely place and upgraded it to the highest standards. Every room is beautifully furnished and spotless and light pours into all of the spaces. The kitchen is modern and bright and two of the large bedrooms have ensuite bathrooms! Almost unheard of in France. The garden is beautiful and was just starting to bloom when I left so I'm sure it will just keep getting more beautiful as the season changes. This home is a 2 minute walk from the main town square so it's walking distance to all the shops and the market but is away from the noise.

While I was in Mirepoix I fell in love with the area and decided to look for a place to buy so I ended up seeing several properties. But after staying at Le Tardi everything I looked at seemed dreary and old.

Don't hesitate to rent this place if you have a large family or friends you want to spend time with and explore a beautiful region.

Wonderful house in a beautiful location

  • 4 of 5

We had an excellent stay in Mirepoix. The house is beautiful - tastefully decorated, spacious, and very well equipped. The location is perfect with a few minutes walk to the centre of Mirepoix and the river. It is also a great base for discovering the Ariege. If we had to give any suggestions, it would be to have a few more sun loungers/chairs in the garden and possibly some mosquito nets in the bed rooms. These are small points, we thoroughly enjoyed Le Tardis.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your fulsome review. We are glad you had such an excellent stay at Le Tardis. At the present time we have two sun loungers, six garden chairs, a dining table, plus a bistro table with two chairs in the garden. Am not sure if there is room for many more chairs ! Will look into the mosquito net situation. Thanks for bringing that to our attention. We hope you will come again to stay with us !

Très belle location bien placée et décorée

  • 5 of 5

Wedding Group of 7

  • 5 of 5

We were at Mirepoix to attend an wedding at a local Chateau.

All seven of us were accommodated at this Gite and it was very comfortable. The property is deceptively large with multiple community areas and we never felt overcrowded.

Well maintained and modern facilities make this an ideal holiday retreat with all Mirepoix amenities within close walking distance.

Good information is also available on operating all the appliances (washer, internet T.V. etc.) as well as useful suggestions on restaurants and places to see.

Being Aussies, a full size Barbecue would be a good addition but this is a minor observation.

Wonderful French Home in a Charming Medieval Town

  • 5 of 5

I was able to spend 12 days in mid-April in this wonderfully restored French home in the lovely medieval village of Mirepoix. Mirepoix is ideally situated in southwest France. It is less than an hour from Carcassonne and Toulouse and about an hour from the Mediterranean coast and the Pyrenees. The surrounding area is of rolling hills dotted with charming villages. Mirepoix has great restaurants and a superb farmers market every week.

The house has been sensitively restored. It is a wonderful blend of old, antique charm and modern comforts. The kitchen is large, bright and very well equipped. It has a large dining table and it opens onto a lovely interior courtyard. The family/sitting room is very comfortable and in the back it opens onto a lovely garden and it also opens onto the interior courtyard. The house sleeps eight in four bedrooms. The bedrooms on the second floor have very comfortable queen beds and each has an ensuite bathroom. The two bedrooms on the third floor have twin beds and they share a bathroom with shower. The house is furnished with a wonderful mix of period antiques and comfortable contemporary furniture. It has been recently restored and it has been very well maintained. It is spotless.

This is a wonderful area in France to explore and this is a charming, comfortable house. I can't recommend it too highly and I can't wait to return next year.

The Niaux Caves at Tarascon-sur-Ariege are well worth visiting to see the beautiful cave paintings dating back 13,000-14,000 years.
