Nice home!

  • 5 of 5

The best part of renting this home for me was that the homeowner was so accessible during our visit. This is the first time I rented a home rather than staying at a hotel, and I was happy that the differences lived up to my expectations. Although we weren't there for the ski-in ski-out option, I can see that as a huge advantage. We would definitely rent this property again!

The Heat Worked!

  • 2 of 5

Unfortunately we were very disappointed in this unit. We didn't provide a review sooner because we felt we should have known better now that we look at a map. This unit is NOT ski-in / ski-out. We needed to drive and park our car a 1/4 mile up the road, past the security post to the lodge in order to ski. It's been 20 years since I've rented a true ski-in / ski-out home so maybe I should have known better.

The heat worked well, but the WiFi didn't and if we had more than 4 people in our group, feeding everyone at once with the limited number of dishes and utensils would have been impossible (I guess we'd eat in shifts). Totally our fault, linens weren't included so we were kind of bummed about that - again, our fault, we'll need to read the property description better.

We also couldn't use the deck since it was iced over w/ about 8 inches of packed snow and ice - kind of a bummer. Maybe this was because it was getting to the end of the season but we were truly disappointed and as my kids are really getting more into skiing, I'm looking to book a few weekends and felt it necessary to write this review - hopefully they've improved it.

Owner's Response: I'm sorry you were not happy with the townhome. The entire development (snow ridge village) is considered ski in/ski out. The quickest way to the slopes is to walk behind the house down Northwoods on the development trail which places you on the center of the Frosty slope. The development is large and wooded so I assume you may not have realized this. I will be sure to advise guests in the future. Driving to the guard shack is much further that you would have to have gone to get on the slopes and is only necessary if you need to go to the lodge to get ski rentals. There are actually only 2 or 3 homes in northwoods which sit directly on the ski trail. The homes that sit directly on the trail on single family units, my townhouse is one of the closest townhouse you can rent to the trails. My townhouse is closer to the slopes than most of the parking lots at Jack Frost. As for the WiFi, I will look into that. You were the first person that had difficulty using it. I have a long term tenant there now who works from home using it. Because the WiFi is not password protected, sometimes your may have to adjust the security settings on your personal device. The house is provided with enough table settings for 6 people (a minimum of 6 plates, bowls, etc.) There are 2 full cabinets of in the kitchen of different sized plates, bowls, cups, coffee mugs, and glasses. As for snow removal off of the back patio, I will be more vigilent about the back deck. Jack frost makes snow almost every night which ends up all over the development. Thr association removes snow off the front porches and roads almost daily. It is removed from the back deck as well by my cleaning company, but that is usually done weekly in between rentals. A shovel is provided in case there is a big snow storm and the removal company did not get to the townhouse yet. As with all guests, my phone number is posted and I am very quick to return phone calls. If you should have a problem in the future with anything, please call me and we can resolve it.
