Great place to stay!

  • 5 of 5

This is a wonderful place to stay -- a delightful old house -- with all its endearing old-house quirkiness. It's eclectically and comfortably decorated - and immaculately clean and well maintained. And what a treat to find homemade scones, a fruit platter and milk in the fridge -- and all delicious! Thanks so much Robert and Cristina! We'll be back....

An old property with some modern updates

  • 2 of 5

the home was in the process of being sold. The price per night seemed high for the property. We were evacuating from a hurricane and didn't have much choice.

Run down, unfortunate property.

  • 1 of 5

This property has the potential to be very charming. It's in a great, central location, and probably has an interesting history. Unfortunately, it is in need of major repairs. The owners kindly left us delicious muffins and juice. The bed linens and towels appeared to be clean. However, the walls, ceilings and floors are grimy. The oven was dirty, and there is no dishwasher. The floors are sloping and spongy. The front bedroom had a broken window. Wires hang from the ceiling, outlet boxes dangle from the wall. The lights flicker in every room. There was no hot water in the front bathroom, and only one extra roll of toilet paper for six people. The place is simply very neglected; perhaps because it is for sale. It is not suitable for renting in its present condition. I would not recommend staying here.

Neglected property for sale

  • 1 of 5

Searched VRBO for HANDICAP ACCESSIBLE & PET FRIENDLY and this property came up. There was only one negative review from over a year ago stating the "property has been neglected" and "not suitable for vacation rental at this time." I agree! Over a year later, I found the property almost exactly as described by previous guest (except all tvs worked during our stay.) I'm not sure where all the positive reviews have come from. The RED ROOSTER sign pictured in front of house has been replaced by a FOR SALE sign, (complete with prospective buyers disturbing us on Saturday morning to look at the house!) The front yard needed mowing and the back yard needed a bull dozer. The house is NOT HANDICAP ACCESSIBLE by any means (other than one walk-in shower with chair and grab bars.) Phone did not work, no computer (although listed in description) only a printer was there. 2 of the bedroom doors would not close (including the master) 2 lamps in bedrooms did not work, stereo did not work, mouse droppings on dishes, propane grill was inoperational with no propane tank. Back yard is a disaster area with broke down hot tub, broke down fire pit, empty freezer on back patio, and what used to be a koi pond is now an unsightly hazard. There were several large piles of trash, debris, brush and black trash bags in back of the house as well as loose trash throughout the back yard. This 3 bedroom house can easily sleep 6 but there is only seating on front porch for 4 and in back for 3. Scones left in refrigerator were probably the best part of the stay. I just wish there were enough for all 3 of us to have one the 2nd morning as well (only 4 scones instead of 6 for 3 adults, 2 mornings.) Since it is advertised as "Bed and Breakfast" or "Bed and Pastry" we expected to all have breakfast both mornings. We had to make an unplanned breakfast trip the 2nd morning. The house is cute and has a lot of charm. It could be a spectacular property with a lot of TLC (and maybe it once was.) The living room was comfortable and other than the mouse droppings, the inside of the house was clean enough. (Except a bucket of dirty water that was left in the kitchen sink which we quickly took care of.) The owner called in the afternoon of the first day & said he may send workers to do yard work in the morning. This should have been done prior to our arrival & thankfully no one showed up. This listing needs to be updated to reflect the current condition of the property

Great location!

Fun long weekend for bike riding. Easy walk to great restaurants. Enjoyed hanging out on the back deck and front porch. Hope to stay here for next year's ride.

We loved the house and location. Did not like the fact that upon rebooking vrbo upped the costs 90 $ per night
