'With the George Cobb-design and Tim Cate's renovation you feel the essence of the island, that Bald Head Island Club is a course like no other. The course will take you around 15 fresh water lagoons and wind through a maritime forest, topping off your play with ocean air that challenges your role in club selection and shot placements. Recently, BHIC has been rated 'Best Places to Play' by Golf Digest magazine. The golf course has also been ranked by North Carolina Magazine as a 'Top 10 Coastal Golf Course.' '
Bald Head Island is only accessible by boat or by a ferry, which departs frequently out of Southport, NC. Southport is 40 minutes from the Wilmington, NC (ILM) airport. A tram ride to the villa is included with your ferry ticket. Reservations are required. Visitors and residents travel around the island by golf cart, bike or by foot.
Villa 46 comes with 2 adult beach bike. Please bring your own helmets. Additional bikes can also be rented. Climb to the top of “Old Baldy,” which is the oldest lighthouse on the East coast. It was built in 1817 and originally commissioned by Thomas Jefferson. Hike and wind your way around live oaks hundreds of years old and through the nature paths that Revolutionary and Civil War soldiers used in the ancient Maritime Forest. An upscale grocery market, spa, and shopping area and recycling plant is a short golf cart ride away. Discover the Bald Head Island Conservancy at the end of South Beach, where you can learn about the island’s wildlife. Sign up for classes, including the popular evening “turtle walks” to search for and observe nesting Loggerhead Turtles and if your timing is right even watch their hatchlings heading to the ocean for the first time!
We have a professional property manager who lives close by on the mainland. They will be able to help with any concerns once you arrive. The villa has been painted with no VOC paints and is maintained and cleaned with environmentally friendly products.
Our kitchen is fully equipped, plus linens, towels, and departure maid service is included.
Can't beat the location. Across the street from the beach, right next to the club. Not too fancy. This is an older unit that they are clearly updating little by little. Kitchenis brand new. We were allowed to bring pets and that is a big plus!! Very easy instructions and great communication
This was our first visit to Bald Head Island but likely not our last. The Villa was in a great location, close to the beach, and has a beautiful view from the deck. My family had an amazing time. Thank you!
This is a nice rental unit, walkable to the beach and very close to the lighthouse and marina. The unit is suppose to come with a temporary membership to the BHI Club next door, but we were unable to access it until the very last day for some reason. If you lpan to use the club, which has nice amenities for families including a large swimming pool, make sure this is set up in advance. A side light to our stay -- sharing the lagoon that runs through the condo complex with a small gator.
This villa has a lot of updates and is in very good condition. It provides great ocean and sunset views and is located in a central area of Bald Head Island. I highly recommend this villa.
My wife, daughter and I found the house to be very comfortable with an amazing view out over the Atlantic and inlet marker buoys to which we saw several large container ships pass. The owners were very accommodating. We would definitely rent this house again.
The first day was a little bumpy, but the owners took care of our problems very promptly. The villa was very spacious. The view from both decks were awesome each morning and afternoon we sat and watched the Dolphins play in the water. This villa is a great place to stay.
