About the property

Campo de Fiori: 260mq. Characteristic spacious 5 bedroom, 4 bath.

Entered directly from the Piazza which houses the Spada Palace, the square and building are fine preserved examples of the elegant Renaissance period. The building has been impeccably restored to its former beauty and is a Historic Listed building dating back to the early 15th century. This was Rome’s most elegant neighborhood, where Cardinals, foreign and Italian Nobles choose to build their family homes, along the famed Via Giulia, Via Monserrato and Piazza Farnese. The building, restored to its original Renaissance splendor, is entered through 12 foot antique doors opening onto the inner court with hand laid marble floor’s leading to a common courtyard with an antique fountain and a stone marker engraved with the year of its first restoration, A.D. 1623.

This apartment has a great deal of character and it is quite rare to find a true 5 bedroom, 4 baths in this coveted area. A two level duplex that can accommodate comfortable 10 people and is approximately 260mq. (2800sq. feet) located on the 2nd & 3rd floor without an elevator; however, the stairs are few and very easy to manage. The apartment was fully renovated and furnished by its present owners, an important Napolitan Family and is a pleasant mix of characteristic wooden ceilings, antique terracotta floors, handmade tiles in the bathrooms and kitchen and decorated with many beautiful things from the owners private collection.

YOUR FIRST LEVEL: Encompassing 130mq. (1400sq. feet), of living space, this level has a living-reception room , dining room, kitchen, 2 bedrooms and 2 baths.

Reception-Living: Spacious living room with high original wooden ceilings, antique terra cotta floors, red velvet sofa, two queen Ann armchairs, antique writing desk and views over the Renaissance Piazza. Bright, silent and air conditioned.

Dining Room: Adjoining the living area is a separate dining room with an antique table for 6, (expandable for 8), and antique side board. An oversized windows let’s in lots of natural light and has views of the Piazza and Fountain

Kitchen: Fully equipped, recently renovated kitchen with lots of cabinets, dishwasher, oven, stove, full size fridge, microwave, espresso machine and fully stocked with dish’s, cooking and flat ware.

Laundry Closet: In a common hallway next to the kitchen is a little closet where you will find the washing machine and a separate dryer. Dryers are quiet rare in Rome, yet can be very convenient for traveling families.

Bedrooms: 2 Bedrooms on this level, both with double beds, (1.90x1.60), and two windows letting in lots of natural light and with views of the Piazza. The bedrooms have air conditioning, original wooden ceilings and antique terracotta floors. Each bedroom has a just been newly decorated (2016) has closet and one of the rooms has an on suite bath with a shower.

Bathrooms: One bathroom on suite with W\C, bidet and shower. A second bathroom is located in the common hallway between the two bedrooms and adjacent to the living room. This bath has a shower and separate full bath, is decorated in hand maid glazed terracotta tiles and with wooden ceilings.

Guestbook comments from the manager

Wonderful, spacious apartment, well furnished, situated in one of Rome best corner. Great hosts, very helpful in any circumstances. I can't think you could ask for a better accommodation. My only suggestion: if you arrive in the cold season (even if the weather in Rome is normally very nice), make sure the apartment was recently occupied; otherwise, ask the hosts to turn the heating on at least one day in advance.

Great apartment and location for large families!

  • 5 of 5

This apartment was in a terrific location and in walking distance to most attractions! Our family of 10 people, 6 adults and 4 kids, fit very comfortably here with 2 kitchens available and 2 family rooms. We were able to walk every morning to the Piazza Fiori for coffee and all evening meals. Very fun nightlife as well! We would definitely recommend this apartment to any friends or family who wish to visit Roma! Thank you!

Excellent location and really a great space/apartment.

  • 5 of 5

We thought everything was excellent. It is in a great location, easy access to both sides of the river and sites. We really enjoy spending time in Trastevere and the apartment was in an excellent location for us to reach this area with all of its bars and restaurants. Additionally the space was perfect. There were 10 of us and we had enough room to spread out through the two floors.

Great location!

  • 4 of 5

The location is fabulous. Walkable to many sites or just to hang in the neighborhood. We were 8 people from work - 3 couples and 2 singles. The 5 bedrooms and 4 baths, 2 kitchens and 2 living rooms made togetherness or alone time equally easy. Our kitchen seemed to have everything needed to create a meal, but we ate out most of the time. We were quite happy there and I would recommend this place to any group.

I thought that HABITAT ITALY had it very together, offering transports, extra linens, etc. I didn't purchase the extra linens because there was a washer and dryer in the apartment. The transfers to and from the airport were very reasonably priced and convenient. You have to pay for everything ahead of arrival and do an online check-in of all guests. We had a fantastic time and the apartment was very comfortable to come home to. Oh, I don't think the elevator was working, so we climbed two full flights of stairs. Not a problem for the young ones. I had to go a little slower... And also, you will get occasional drunks passing by late at night, making noise, but I would still go back.

We loved staying at this apartment in Rome. The apartment itself is very cool. Gorgeous high wood ceilings with big shuttered windows. Very spacious. Two floors connected by a spiral staircase with a see-through floor. The location was fantastic. We walked everywhere. It was a short walk down a narrow street to Campo Dei Fiori and a connected street with all kinds shops and restaurants. We really felt like we got a taste of what it would be like to live in Rome. We headed out for coffee and pastries every morning. Wonderful, wonderful experience!

Car: not necessary

This beautifully renovated apartment is situated in a 16th Century National Landmark Building located directly in a Charming little Piazza and facing the marvelous Spada Palace built in 1540 and modified to its present state by Francesco Borromini. Borromini created, among other things, the masterpiece of trompe-l'oeil of false perspective where the sequence of columns of decreasing height and the floor that rises create the optical illusion of a long tunnel, in the bottom of the gallery, in a sunlit garden, there is a sculpture that looks natural size, while in reality it is only 60 cm high.

The sculptural decoration of the mannerist stucco facade of the building, and the courtyard with sculptures in niches framed by garlands of flowers and fruit, and grotesque scenes of symbolic meaning in relief between the small windows of the mezzanine, make it the richest surviving façade of the Roman Cinquecento in Rome. The building houses, among other masterpieces, a colossal sculpture of Pompey the Great, to whom Giulio Cesare fell, unearthed in 1552 beneath the walls of a Roman villa.

The Piazza is located in Rome’s most elegant Renaissance quarter between the Farnese Palace, designed by Michelangelo and now home to the French Embassy and steps from the world famous Piazza Navona, the traditional open food mart of Campo de’Fiori and the Oldest Jewish Quarter in Western Europe. In addition, the apartment is just a short walk from the Historic Center’s main transport hub in Largo Argentina, with express buses to Termini and tram service directly to the Trastevere station and on-going connections to the Airport.

The area is full of shops, cafe’s, the Campo de’ Fiori open market, the Pantheon and just 5 minutes’ walk across the bridge to the lively Trastevere quarter. Well serviced, there are also a number of supermarkets, gyms and shops nearby. Truly an excellent location and an oasis of quiet and beauty from which to explore Rome's multilayered historical district.
