Nice family rental
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this property. We stayed from a Sunday until the following Sunday. Any issues we had were minor and did not affect our ability to enjoy our stay. The location is ideal...gated community...with about a 5-8 minute easy walk to the beach (depending on ages of children involved...we had 4, 2, and 1 year old involved so it took 8-10 min or so...and we made 13 round trips during our stay!!). Our total group was 6 adults and the three kids. The house layout accommodated us very well...with the upstairs two bedrooms with the jack and jill bath between being especially handy for the family with the three small children. The master bedroom upstairs is huge!! There are large TVs in each bed room and the living room. Huge eating area table...very nice!! The kitchen is stocked with anything you could possibly need. Everything in the house was in working order...no surprises. Rooms are spacious, storage is spacious, and the place is designed to help you with your beach-going vacation...lots of beach toys, outdoor shower, beach wagon, etc. We would certainly consider using this home again if were to plan another vacation in this area.
Needs a good cleaning.
The house has plenty of room for a bunch of people but the housecleaning company you use is not good. I doubt the bed spreads were ever washed before our arrival, the walls have handprints all over them, there's cob webs on the lights, the couch needs some tlc (and to be moved because there was a ton of gunk under it), and the floors need a good sweep and mop. When we first arrived I removed my shoes to not bring any dirt in but by the time I made it upstairs they were all grainy and black on the bottom.
I am used to a house that we normally rent from that is equipped with all the little things you can think of (Q tips, hair ties, etc.) so it was definitely a change to not have all the nice extras.
It wasn't a bad house, just the cleanliness was the main problem.
This is unbelievable. Prior to our experience with this new rental company (who bought out the last one) we have had reviews that carried on about how wonderfully clean the place was. We are going to have to re-assess our relationship with this rental management company. They have claimed to assign a specific person to oversee and review this house between each rental to inspect it thoroughly and guarantee its cleanliness. Guess they are just saying that, and since I cannot be there to inspect it (or monitor them) myself, I am at a loss for what I can do about this. I will see what I can do about getting a return of cleaning fees. Please accept my apology- this is not what I would expect when I rent a high- end rental house. And it is unacceptable to me.
Home was filthy....
I hate to write a bad review but it is needed for this home. The house is live able, don’t get me wrong, but it was filthy. Whomever cleans this place needs to be fired. We arrived to the home around 4:00pm, check in time, on Saturday and about 30 minutes after we arrived someone was knocking on the door to bring all the bedroom comforters that should have already been on the beds upon arrival. In the master upstairs, we walked out on the balcony to find a broken chair. In the Master the pull out couch bed had tons of stains so it couldn’t be used. It was nice that the room had a Playpen but it was also very dirty. The kitchen didn’t have dish towels or washcloths so we had to buy them. We had to buy salt, pepper and seasonings. The house was supposed to come with laundry detergent as well and it didn’t have any. We had to make several unnecessary trips to the store on vacation to get stuff that should already have been there. On Tuesday we had a fish fry and while frying fish, my husband saw a roach under the glass in the oven temperature screen. Did we still have a good vacation? Yes. But I would never stay in that home again. The care was not there at all. The hospitality that we have had in the past years in other homes was nonexistent in this home.
Below average for all the places we have rented.
This house was a good size for our party of 9. It was decently stocked in the kitchen. The problem was it wasn’t very clean. We paid a sizable cleaning fee and the place was filthy. On the surface it looked clean but soon we noticed the dirt under the couches and beds and on the floor boards. The pull out sofa in the master was really dirty so we didn’t use it. We also noticed food on the chairs and couch in the living room that I was able to clean off with a soapy wet towel. I was amazed since the management company southern rentals does an inspection before they give the final ok to go in for the new renter. It was really upsetting for the fee they charge for cleaning. For the most part it was just ok otherwise. It does need some new paint too. The walk to the beach was about 15 minutes which was longer then the ad made it sound. It was also stairs unless you drove to the public beach by pompano joes where there is a ramp.
Wow- this is the second time I have had a comment about the cleaning- over which I have NO control (or the pricing thereof). I have been overall dissatisfied with the performance of Southern Resorts. They bought out our previous management company- Sandcastle Escapes as a result of the squirrely moves by VRBO/ HomeAway to consolidate their stranglehold on the rental market. Guess it's time to start looking for a better management company. I will see what I can do about getting you some sort of partial refund of cleaning fees. That's just wrong.
And we do plan to repaint the interior this year. Our touching up can only go so far when renters damage the walls. Additionally I just painted the exterior and installed new deck on the master bedroom.
Won't argue the walk to the beach- but I have personally timed it three times at a slow walk. Perhaps the new gate codes slowed it down. I will measure again this fall and adjust if I am wrong.
