A secluded 55 acre farmhouse in open rolling pastures on a small stream named Walnut Run. It is 80 miles from Washington DC and just 10 miles from Skyline Drive and the hiking trails of Shenandoah National Park.
What makes Walnut Run Farm special is the farm's location. The house is perfectly sited in a small bowl along a little stream called Walnut Run. The farm is intact with a barn, corn crib, spring house, smoke house, well pump and storage shed. Visiting the farm is like stepping back in time. It is an exceptionally peaceful rural setting.
The house is clean, quiet and minimally decorated. There are two bedrooms. There is a queen bed in the master bedroom and two twin beds in the second bedroom. The kitchen is fully stocked and there is a large library of classical literature. There is a living room with a baby grand piano and a studio that opens onto a 50 foot screened porch. A perfect getaway to enjoy peace, beauty, and privacy.
I am fighting like mad to save this farm and every guest stay helps me protect this beautiful property. Thanks!

John Kirchner purchased this farmhouse in 1992
The property is simply beautiful. The house is perfectly sited on the land and there are endless views in all directions. There is a large, flat lawn below the house that borders a small stream called Walnut Run.
Peace and Quiet
Situated in a lovely spot, but relatively close to DC with a nice little town nearby. House has most modern amenities, but retains the old charm with whimsical touches.
The place are with a lot of character , great for someone who are looking for a differnt experience.
Quirky place with a lot of character. Nice and secluded. Silent and dark at night. We really enjoyed our stay.
"My ambition is limited to capturing something transient," the Impressionist painter Berthe Morisot proclaimed. And, like a painting by Monet, Walnut Run Farm is ephemeral and fixed simultaneously. The creek changes with the sunlight, the rain, and yet it is constant. This sense of timelessness pervades with clouds over the surrounding rolling hills and ample shade under the towering trees around the farmhouse and barns. John the proprietor said to me, "I like old things," and indeed antiques spanning the nineteenth and twentieth centuries are scattered throughout the house. An enormous screened porch allows for afternoon naps and beautiful views of the sunset. It is a wonderful place to lose oneself.
