Comfortable chalet in the heart of Franconia Notch - conveniently located for outdoor activities!

  • 5 of 5

We had such a great and memorable family vacation while staying at this nice chalet near the base of Mt. Canon (Mittersil). This home was conveniently located-- 20 minutes away (or less) from numerous hiking trails, Flume Gorge, Lost River Gorge, and Clark's Trading Post, and a great moose tour located in Lincoln, to name a few. About 45 minutes away from Crawford Notch (more hiking trails!), Mt. Washington, and other fun activities in the North Country, including dog sledding, river rafting, and trail riding by horseback.

The chalet was very clean, "rustic modern", and every appliance, gadget, and household amenity were all in good working order. The homeowner answered all questions promptly. I would not hesitate to recommend this home to anyone looking for a place to stay in the Whites!

Generally clean with a few problems, the floors were quite dirty and in need of a thorough cleaning

  • 3 of 5

The chalet was acceptable, but rather uninviting, with little or no character. Poor lighting in all rooms, unable to read in bed or in the main living area. The shower curtain in the master bathroom was moldy on the bottom and the mattress cover should have been thrown away it was so thread bear. There were no instructions on how to operate the TV or the fireplace. Had to contact the owner who was vague in his instructions. The pilot for the gas fireplace was unlit, again the owner had to be contacted to resolve the issue. For the cost, it was uninspiring at best.

Absolutely PERFECT!

  • 5 of 5

The chalet is lovely.... there were 4 adults staying at the house and it worked perfectly - each couple had their own "space" and bathroom, entry and parking area. The house was light, airy, clean and only 10 miles from the highland games so we weren't fighting traffic for miles and miles!

With all of us wearing special Scottish clan logo clothing, it was great to have the washer/dryer so we could toss our shirts and jeans in each night and have them fresh for the next day. The kitchen had everything you needed - including a dish washer so we could prepare decent meals and not spend the rest of the evening washing dishes! The appliances were modern and all worked --- things just couldn't have been better.

The house would have been too expensive for us on our own (social security) but by sharing with another couple it was a 'do-able' vacation for all of us. Motel rooms would have cost us more and then you have the cost of food on top of it! Prohibitive. I RECOMMEND this property without reservation!

Thank you, Mark for a wonderful first trip to NH......it won't be our last!
