This elegant apartment opens to a good-sized foyer.
The modern kitchen has an induction cook-top, fridge, micro-wave, washer-dryer, dishwasher and pantry.
The living and dining rooms have the same antique furnishings typical of French bourgeois homes of the area, a wide balcony with great views of the wooded park surrounding it.
The master bedroom has a queen-sized bed and adjoining bathroom (with shower). A spacious second bedroom has either two single beds, (or three, if needed.) Or a queen-sized bed can be arranged if you prefer. This room has an adjoining bathroom (with tub). There is also a comfortable sofa-bed in the apartment, and a separate WC, and lots of closet space to hang clothes and store suitcases.
The Brindeau family has owned this apartment for many years, and in 2010, when Bernard inherited it, we decided to renovate those areas that needed it, and leave in place the charming authentic Parisian style typical of Le Parc de Maisons-Laffite. (Sherry, his American wife of 40 years, could not see this particular apartment with Danish modern furnishings. no way.)
Bernard Brindeau purchased this apartment in 1964
The owners know both Maisons-Laffitte and Paris extremely well, and can answer just about any question you might have about the area.
Bernard's wife grew up in along the Potomac River, near DC, and loved tall trees in a gracious residential setting. She found that enchanting environment again, in "Le Parc de Maisons-Laffitte". Though with the fascinating plus of it being "Le Cité du Cheval", and the only place where you can, while bike-riding, say hello to both amateur riders and professional grooms taking their horses on their morning or evening walk through the "Parc".
And bike-riding is a great activity in the park, with bike paths throughout the park and along the Seine river. (There are two bikes in the garage at your disposal.)
There are also facilities swimming, tennis and golf.
Though if you prefer, you can just take a relaxing walk along the Seine, and watch 'les péniches" (typical "live-in" barges) go by, and have a drink at one of the side-walk cafés, and dinner in one of the many local restaurants.
And visit Paris, of course, with all the monuments and museums and night-life it has to offer, only a 20 min RER train ride away.
Very Nice sejour on this apartment.
We stayed 3 weeks with ours kids and it was very confortable.
Near from shopping and transport.
Calm and relaxing stay in the park.
I stayed at the apartment with my classmate while on exchange at ESSEC business school. The place is even more beautiful in person and the owners are very nice and helpful people. If you don't mind the walk to the RER station, then it's perfect...plus the walk is beautiful as well and it's a safe area. There's a gorgeous Chateau about 7 min walk and it's a must see...you'll be given lots of info on what to do in the area as well. I'll always remember my stay there.
If you are looking for something different, something authentic, a place to vacation in France in that allows you not only to visit (or re-visit) Paris, but also find out what it is like to be Parisian, living in a home decorated in the traditional bourgeois style, next to an elegant little town nestled along the Seine River, then plan your trip around "La Résidence Lafayette" in Maisons Laffitte.
The town of Maisons Laffitte is located just 20 min. west of Paris, via the RER A, (ie, the fast train), which takes you directly to the Arch de Triomphe and the Champs-Elysées.
There you are at the center of everything of interest in Paris, and you can reach the Eiffel Tower, the Champs-de-Mars, La Rive Gauche, Notre Dame and the Louvre, on foot, by metro or by "taxi-boat" along the Seine River (which is a great new way of seeing Paris without having to walk for miles.)
And the best part is, after your day of sightseeing, you can truly relax in the peace and quiet of the 700 acre residential park called "Le Parc de Maisons-Laffitte".
Once you have finished with your sightseeing adventures in Paris, your choice of activities in and around Maisons-Laffitte is vast.
Horse-back riding, jogging, golf, tennis, and bike-riding along the Seine river, going to plays and listening to evening concerts are possible in the local "Maison de la Culture".
"Le Parc" is also a lovely (and very safe) place to walk around and explore the many interesting manor houses, as well as many historic stables, all built in the varied architectural styles of the past 300 years. The stables, an originality that only this town has to offer, provide training and riding paths for both amateur horseback-riders and professional jockeys, throughout its many acres of wooded paths. And they also train (and race) at the local "Hippodrome" down along the Seine River, a fun place to try your luck at the betting windows, or simply to guess which thoroughbred will come in first.
And before the races begin, you can enjoy a Perrier, a beer or a glass of wine at a café-restaurant just opposite the track, that serves a truly traditional 3 course meal for 16€, and all good-eating. We know, we go there often, (on the bikes which will be at your disposal as well).
And as is also quite traditional in the area, the park has its own chateau, built in the elegant style of Versailles (also located nearby), though ours is a lot smaller and easier to visit.
The town is a short walk from both the chateau, and the apartment. It has all the traditional food and wine shops, sidewalk cafés, restaurants and a couple of chic dress shops as well. You can either eat at one of the restaurants in town, or buy your own "plats cuisinés" (take-out) at the food shops on your way home from the metro station.
Or if you are feeling really 'traditional' you can prepare your own meals, finding all the fresh meats, fish, fruit and vegetables you could want, in the covered farmer's market which sets up every Wed. and Sat. morning...a real "must" to see, as the French put it, because at the heart of traditional French living.
Just take a look at the pictures...and you'll see what we mean. ..and we'll be happy to send along any additional information you need to make your visit of Paris and its surroundings a real success.
