About John Poletti

I have been skiing for 70 years and I feel this is one of the nicest ski resorts in North America. The mountain faces south and has great fall line skiing with a very nice Alpine Village. It is never crowded, the conditions are much better than Whistler and it is easy to get to from Seattle and Vancouver by car on an All Weather Highway.

John Poletti purchased this townhome in 2004

Why John Poletti chose British Columbia Mountains

Because of the great mountain, village and skiing. The resort is always one of the first to open in North America and makes a lot of early season snow.

What makes this townhome unique

Ski In Ski Out - Walk to Village - No need for an auto - A wonderful home away from home.

Great condo!

  • 5 of 5

Went to Sunpeaks with theee friends for Spartan Race weekend in the fall. Beautiful setting. Great location and nice little 5-10 minute walk into the village. The four of us all really enjoyed this condo very much. It’s beautiful with high ceilings. Three bedrooms and three full bathrooms and plenty of room. It’s very spacious and it was nice to be able to park in the garage. This is the best equipped place I have ever stayed in. All you need for cooking and a well stocked pantry of essentials which was so nice to have! We enjoyed sunny afternoon drinks out on the deck and evening drinks in the hot tub. We didn’t use the laundry room or the bbq but what great extra features to have. Great price made it affordable.

The only negative was that we had to take our garbage and recycling with us when we left which was a pain - loading up our garbage into our packed up vehicle full of luggage (kind of gross) and then once we finally found the transfer station it was closed. We were trying to get going on the road early in the morning and get home. Perhaps this is fairly standard in sunpeaks condos? But I’ve never had to do that in any other place I have stayed. Besides that everything else was perfect.

We would definitely stay here again and I have recommended to friends. Thank you so much for sharing your place John and Mary :)

Owner's Response: Thanks. You are correct about the garbage. It is a problem. The transfer station in the summer is not open seven days a week. It is also not open until 10 AM.The City of Kamloops has a transfer station at the bottom of the hill that is open at 8 AM. It is really large. I have a real problem with guests that fly in. They do not have a car. I just wrote the mayor asking if they could set up a franchise for garbage pick up. There could be a small fee but everyone has a smart phone today and they could set up an app to handle it. I think the resort is going through growing pains. They also have a problem with the free shuttle service in the winter. The resort keeps it a secret. I would have the bus location running off an app so people would know when the bus will arrive. I mentioned it to the resort a few years ago and it went right over the girls head.

Amazing Place and Experience in Sun Peaks

  • 5 of 5

First off, John was excellent to deal with from the first enquiry to the contact we had to make during our stay over the wifi system. Any issues we had were dealt with quickly and effectively.

Our issue was the wifi system which controls the Roku TVs and the phone. The system is top of the line and we felt a little antiquated. Nevertheless, one call and a follow up email and we were good to go within hours that were spent at our event anyways so it didn't feel like we even skipped a beat. Noteworthy- my laptop only picked up the wifi signal in the living room though our other devices had no issues in kitchen or dining area, so if your device tells you that your password is invalid, have a seat in the super comfy armchair and try again.

The condo is large with 1 BR on the main and 2 upstairs. Three of us each had our own bathroom. The kitchen is well outfitted and we enjoyed using the gas BBQ. Extra propane is in the garage if your bottle goes dry like our did. The hot tub was sure appreciated after we ran FoamFest 5km (Which is a hoot of an event by the way! Highly recommended!) Trail's Edge is really east to find & route is well marked as your drive through the village.

This condo is outfitted extremely comfortably and it was very easy to be at home here. My sister and I both noted that we slept incredibly well here. Mattresses are perfect. Sheets are a gazillion thread count. Really nice to slide into bed.

Large, coloured towels for the hot tub are in the closet downstairs so we didn't have to drag the white ones from the bathrooms outside. Coming back inside to heated floors is nice when you get out of the tub too.

We were advised to bring coffee pods for the Keurig and told that any we had left over would be bought from us and we'd be charged for the pods we used of theirs. Fair, and we were warned in advance.

Noteworthy- There is also a regular coffee machine, a grinder and a bodem in the condo so if you prefer, you are not limited to using the Keurig.

Location, Location, Location. It's a very short walk from the unit to the resort, lifts, starting line of FoamFest restaurants etc. The village is CUTE!! There is a convenience market there but I'd recommend buying what you need in Kamloops before coming.

The summer rate we paid was VERY reasonable. Split between 3 of us, it was far more cost effective than a hotel and far more enjoyable. Thanks for listing on VRBO John!
