About Carole Loftis

I live in Grand Haven in the woods on the beach and have been coming up to the Fife Lake area for the past 20 years. I spend much of my time up north. My neighbors in GH, who come only in the summer, always wonder why I could possibly be going any where else!

Carole Loftis purchased this chalet in 2002

Why Carole Loftis chose Fife Lake

My husbands father built his cabin in Fife Lake in the forties. We loved the woods and beautiful lakes in the area and subsequently found our own place on Downs Lake in 1994. The Chalet, also on Downs lake was purchased in 2002. The original cabin, close by, has been renovated and can be rented along with the Chalet.

What makes this chalet unique

The chalet is a peaceful place in the center of nature. Watch and observe closely, you will not be disappointed.

Beautiful home, serene setting!

Had a wonderful time, kayaking on the pond right in the back yard of property. After a day sight seeing, nice to come home to a wonderful quiet place! Couldn't have been more pleased!

Perfect place to just “hit the reset button”

  • 5 of 5

Myself, my fiancé and our 2 water loving labs thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We rode 50+ miles on the trails on our 4 wheeler during our stay. The state trail is the road that the driveway connects from so it’s very convenient. We literally had the Downs Lake to ourselves for our 5 day stay. Our dogs played fetch in the water, we both kayaked, sat on the dock enjoying the sun (and tasty beverages of course!) and serenity of all the nature around us. We needed the time to just reset and come home refreshed which is exactly what we accomplished. We visited Traverse City which was only about a 25 minute ride, which you don’t even mind because the ride to and from is beautiful. The town Fife Lake is 5 minutes away if you need to grab some groceries, gas, or even stop at the ice cream parlor and enjoy the views of the large Fife Lake. The property and chalet itself is just so calming and overall hard to leave! The house is comfortable, clean and spacious. We met the owners who are very friendly and helpful, very easy to communicate with- if we needed anything. There is a bald eagle that frequents the lake, we saw the eagle 3 times during our stay. There is also a trail to another lake that we couldn’t find any access to, but we did get close enough to see beavers swimming, pretty cool! We never have rented a house before for a vacation so we weren’t sure what to expect- however our experience exceeded our expectations and would definitely book time away at this property again.

Beautiful, Quiet, Secluded Get Away Chalet!

  • 5 of 5

Thank you for allowing us to stay in such a beautiful piece for heaven. Off the beaten path we found a lovely property. Secluded on a beautiful lake. Quiet and peaceful with a view that would take your breath away. So nice to enter I to the chalet to see new washer, dryer, dishwasher. All a bonus. Refinished flooring is perfect. Thank you for the free WiFi. Definitely a bonus for us and our w year old. LOTS of room in the chalet. Loved the 2 large bathrooms, available games to play inside, paddle boat outside. We brought our own battery operated motor for the fishing boat. Great for an afternoon cruise. Thanks so much again. Would highly recommend to anyone! Can't wait to be back in October.

My kids actually were not stuck with their smart phones during our stay

  • 5 of 5

OK, they were still on social media, posting their experiences here, like the fish they caught and frogs they saw. It was a great experience staying here for us; we actually felt in the middle of no where because for 98% of time you don't hear any noises, car, airplane, people. Yet, other bigger cities are within reasonable distance if you like to travel there. The house is very nice and clean and it fits us perfectly; Carole is very responsive to our inquiries. We do plan to come back here when we can. Thanks Carole.
