This very large house (3500 sq ft) will accomodate large parties of visitors. Has the feel of the out doors, since it is located amidst 20 acres of scenic views but with short distance to down town areas. Recently retired health care professional/masseuse, (kids are grown) wanting to have others experience the joy of Taos living while he is gone to timeshares at other locations. Need a get away from Albuquerque or some other crowded metropolis? Just pack a small case of clothes and come ready to share my home away from home in the magical Land of Enchantment. Santa Fe has nothing on Taos (except for crowds.) A 900 year old pueblo and museums that chronicle its history on the Santa Fe Trail. This part of the southwest is much older than the rest of the United States. Kit Carson is buried in our local cemetery. A 650 foot bridge spans the Rio Grande River leaves you with vistas that are similar to the Grande Canyon. Had the best snow in the southern Rockies last season.
Keywords: Large Hacienda, trimmed w/Cedar and other woods, vigas, isolated but close to town, hiking, galleries, full kitchen seats 12 comfortably, spacious rooms, value but sumptuous.
This partner has demonstrated and is committed to fast response times, the best rates, and a great guest experience.
Individual who loves to travel (4 to 5 times a year.) I build custom furniture which is used throughout the house. Homeowner has lived within this community for 40 years and loves to share his favorite places with visiting guests. I grew up in Albuquerque.
The Owner purchased this house in 1994
I have been a Professional in Taos since 1974 and am available to give you insight into how to be a visitor but be as knowledgeable as a local. .
I use wood fires as a SUPPLEMENT to heat this house in the winter, so it is very energy efficient. The wood in this house will amaze you (vigas, floors, cedar cabinets and beams.) Located within walking distance of the most photographed church (St Frances of Asisi) in northern NM you are adjacent to National Forest, Ranchos Plaza, or downtown activities.
My three month stay for a work contract at a hospital in the community was a delight. I felt like part of the family in my home away from home. I plan on coming again for future contracts. I especially liked the country feel and the peace and quiet, since I was working the night shifts during my stay.
Robert was very nice and helpful! The house was clean and it easily held our group of 12. The hot tub was amazing! We would definitely stay there again!!
We really enjoyed our stay. Great place for skiing in Toas.
Nice home. Very spacious. Well decorated. Warm. Cozy. Makes for good ski condo. Only suggestion is that it not advertise that it sleeps 15. It advertises a futon in the library, but it isn't there anymore. And the couch in the hot tub room is not good for sleeping since the room has a dense chlorine smell. Still recommend it as an inexpensive option for a large group.
The house work was great. We came down for a family reuion and it worked out wonderfully. The kids loved the big yard. Adults loved the hot tub. Kitchen was very spacious. Cant wait to come back.
Great
The house is an authentic adobe and has beautiful viga ceilings. The fully equipped kitchen is conveniently located and the very long custom made dinning table makes eating and visiting comfortable. The four bed rooms are comfortable and private. Comfortable is the key description of the home. The views of from either covered porch are breathtaking. I took beautiful pictures of the sun rising over the mountains. The owner responded immediately to questions and quickly resolved any issues. I would love to stay there again.
Taos Ski Valley is the premier ski area in the Southern Rockies and is located 45 minutes from this location. There are four other ski areas within the surrounding Sangre de Christo area (Red River, Angel Fire, Sipapu, and Ski Santa Fe.) In fact, Sipapu which is the smallest and most family friendly is only 15 minutes away via one of the most scenic roads in Northern New Mexico (Highway 518.). In summertime there are hiking trails within short distance. The Santa Fe National Forest is within walking distance of this property. Taos cultural events like art galleries, live theatre, museums (Kit Carson), and plaza based dances are all things that can be done under the wonderful blue skies. Many visitors come for the cool temperatures in summer (max 85 with very little humidity) or head to the even cooler temperatures as you go up onto the mountain peaks that surround the community. Eagle Nest lake and Abiquiu lake are both located within an hour of town. Rio Grande River is near. Lots of fresh powder in the winter months. Get your skis ready
