ASHLEY VILLA ON THE AEGEAN SEA
Thanks a bunch for stopping by Ashley Villa. We would love for you to stay in our villa during your holiday in Greece. Ashley Villa is a perfect place to stay any time of the year. The house is directly on the Aegean Sea with its crystal clear waters.
Ashley Villa is registered with and approved by the Greek National Tourism Board (EOT) License #0208K10000278701
Have fun in the summer sun. Swim in our private pool or walk out the gate and jump into the crystalline waters of the Aegean Sea. A path with stone steps leads the way down to the sea. The sea area by the house is rocky and its deep waters are perfect for diving.
If you prefer a sandy beach, part of our community, Schinias Beach, has beautiful sandy beaches with pine trees to the water’s edge. It is perfect for small children. The beach slope is gentle and small children can easily wade 30 to 40 meters. The lack of currents and large waves make the beach a perfect place for power swimmers to improve their endurance. The beach is about 5 minutes from the house and is one of the most popular beaches in the Athens area. Beach clubs provide lounge chairs, wind surfing, paddle boarding, as well as cool and refreshing drinks for your enjoyment.
The swimming pool is private to the house and overlooks the Aegean Sea. It is perfect for swimming and sunbathing. The pool dress code is set by our guests.

The nearby island of Evia is a short 45 minute ferry ride and a fun voyage to take. The airport is about a 55 minute drive in daytime traffic.
Smoking of any kind of products including electronic cigarettes is not permitted inside the house. However the use of tobacco products on the large balconies and around the pool is allowed.

We welcome rentals with children. Children must be supervised. The design and construction of the house, specifically its balconies both inside and outside, are not suitable for small children and infants who may climb over balcony rails. The swimming pool is gated from the house rental and a lock can be provided should it be desired. Children 16 years old and younger must be supervised when in the pool area.

When present, the owners stay in the guest quarters. However, the owners do not use the swimming pool, pool patio, the BBQ or the adjacent garden area when guests are present. Privacy for the villa rental is assured by closing the shutters and curtains that face the pool area of the guest quarters. The formal main entrance provides a private access to the villa for the rental while the owner's access is via the service entrance on the garage level.
The house has a hydro massage tub in the Penthouse bedroom. This tub is not in operation and is not included as part of the rental.
A rental car is needed. The location of the Villa is such that the distances to stores, shops, super markets, bus stops, etc. are too far to walk. If you prefer not to drive, we can help you arrange for a driver and van.

Marathon is where the Athenians defeated the Persians during the Battle of Marathon in 490bc. It is also the birthplace of the modern Marathon Run that was part of the very first modern Olympic Games held in 1896 at Athens. This run follows, as best can be determined, the original route traveled by Pheidippides in 490 bc.
Marathon's beach area, Schinias Beach with its pine trees and sandy beach, is one of the most popular beaches in the Athens area. The beach with its gentle grade, no waves, or currents that made it perfect for the Persian fleet in 490bc also make it perfect today for small children and distance swimmers alike. A pine forest grows to the water's edge providing natural shade for those who seek shelter from the noon-day sun. Several beach clubs are available for people seeking more formal facilities or beach activities such as wind surfing, paddle boating, bar services, and the like. Plenty of parking is available.
Adjacent to Schinias Beach is the mountainous, rocky coastline of Dikastika also called Schinias by many locals. This area is filled with resort homes used mostly during the summer months. All the homes have what can easily be called “million dollar views” and some like AshleyVilla are located directly on the Aegean Sea only a very short walk down a rocky path into the Aegean’s clear, refreshing waters. The seashore is both mountainous and rocky providing many small nooks and coves perfect for private swimming and sunbathing. The crystal-clear, cool water rapidly reaches depth in many areas making diving off rocks a popular pastime. Snorkeling is always a popular sport.
Only a stone’s throw away some 12 km from Dikastika is the Ferry Boat landing at St. Marina. The ferry will take you on a short but pleasant voyage to the village of Nea Stira on Evia Island. One popular outing by many visitors to our area is to simply park their car at the ferry boat landing and walk aboard the ferry, spend a day at Nea Stira, then return that evening to the mainland.
Marathon has two museums. The Marathon Run Museum is located in the downtown area of the village of Marathon. It has the history of all the modern Marathon Runs held as part of the modern Olympics. The museum is of particular interest to many visitors take a trip on foot from Marathon to the ancient stadium in downtown Athens. This is especially true for participants in the Annual Classic Marathon Run that takes place early November.
If ancient history is of interest, the Marathon Museum of antiquity is located between the village of Marathon and the town of Nea Makri. This museum presents the sites of antiquity located in the Marathon area such as the Egyptian Baths and the ancient town of Ramnous. Near the Museum are ancient tombs dating back thousands of years bc. Also nearby are the Tombs of the 191 Athenians and 11 Plataeans who lost their lives during the Battle of Marathon as well as a Mycenaean tomb.
No trip to Greece is complete without visiting the Athens Acropolis and the Parathion. Driving into Athens is easily done. However, if one does not wish to drive a regional buss is available hourly from Marathon that ties into Athens’ world class subway system. While in downtown Athens, a visit to the National Museum, one of the world’s finest museum of antiquity, and the Acropolis Museum are definitely worth the effort. Finish the day shopping in the old town, the Plaka.
Not all that far from Marathon are the Oracles at Delphi. This is an easy daytrip. Leave between 8 and 9 am and travel inland high in the mountains. The drive is easy and you will pass through several quaint mountain villages.
