About The Owner

I am a retired art teacher and my husband is a retired engineer that worked on Huntsville Redstone arsenal.I still teach art classes three days a week at The Huntsville Museum of art and I have some art classes at the house as well.My husband and purchased this lovely 100 year farm house in 2013. We have spent three years restoring and furnishing to get it ready for you to enjoy. You will enjoy over $3300 feet of common space for a great family retreat or reunion or an event you can plan yourself. We know several great caterers that we can recommend.

The Owner purchased this house in 2013

Why The Owner chose Fayetteville

If you like the idea of going back in time and living in an elegant old house for a true picture of how folks used live.We have put a lot of energy in restoring, rewiring and replumbing the house. I have personally painted most of the 3300 square foot space. All the art work throughout the house I have done myself and there are two murals that pay homage to the original wall paper that I have been able to salvage in a few areas. We bought this beautiful old lady at an auction and picked up the deed and found to our surprise that my husband's great uncles name was on the deed. What a surprise!

What makes this house unique

We are on one and a half acres and have lots of off-street parking. With a very large wrap -around porch (with a porch swing and rockers),there is some great outside spaces for entertaining, for retreats, for reunions .There are THREE kitchens for some interesting potential for family meals or events.

There is two large dining areas off the main kitchen with several dining room tables and seating for twenty four, perfect for a small wedding or shower. There is three bedrooms upstairs and a wonderful bathroom with a clawfoot tub and shower attached. There is also a twin bed in the upstairs kitchen, with a potential of sleeping ten. All the antique furnishings gives this historic colonial farmhouse a nostalgic feel. You will love the old pocket doors , the beautiful wood floors and all the gorgeous chandeliers. We have recently added a bedroom with a verdigris iron queen sized bed downstairs.

Wonderful home for family event

  • 5 of 5

We rented the entire home for the weekend for ourselves and family members in town for a wedding at Sacred Stone. Being from out of town we were unsure where to host the rehearsal dinner and Laten House was absolutely perfect for that event. Melanie was wonderful to work with and made sure we had everything we needed to make our stay and event fantastic. You won't be disappointed with a stay at Laten House.

A wonderful experience in Fayetteville TN

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay in the Laten House in Fayetteville, TN in August, 2016. The Latens B & B is beautiful, filled with gorgeous furnishings and art work. The art work in the home is a product of Melanie's exceptional talent. The town of Fayetteville has so much impressive architecture with an awesome town square just blocks away. This home is around 100 years old with a wonderful front porch filled with swings and rockers in a perfect setting. The yard has massive shade trees and flowering plants.

The hosts Melanie and Bobby are perfect in so many ways. They are accommodating and friendly and made our stay a wonderful experience. We feel we have made a lasting friendship with this couple.

Quaint and Quiet

  • 5 of 5

This is Front porch living at it's best ... or side porch ... or Back Deck living! Whatever you are looking for this place has. It has history. It has antique shopping and tours close. It has a getaway feel away from touristy things if needed. The owners are sweet and aim to give you the experience you are looking for. You will love the original artwork displayed on the walls! A must see!!

Beautiful, quaint and peaceful!

  • 5 of 5

I was there for a event, it is a very charming home with a classic appeal. The hosts/owners are friendly and very accommodating. And the food was good! You are close to shopping and restaurants in historic Fayetteville. The house has hand painted walls and the history with the house is great.
