About the property

6 bedroom, 2 bathroom with outdoor BBQ and eating area. Beautiful views.

Spacious and well equipped, our six bedroomed house is located in a residential zone on the edge of Santa Maria de Palautordera, only 4km from the Monseny Nature Reserve (a stunning area at any time of the year). With a private pool (15m in length) and two beautiful garden areas, this villa is ideal for large family groups. Extremely peaceful with beautiful views, the house has both an outdoor BBQ and dining area. Perfectly situated for both rural and cultural tourism. The nearest beach is just 20 minutes drive away, but there are also direct trains to Barcelona, Girona and Figueres (for museums, monuments, shopping and cultural events).

The swimming pool is 15 meters in length, with shallow and deep ends. The 100.000 litres of water it holds come from a natural spring on the premises. The pool has a self cleaning system and is manually cleaned once a week by our maintenance staff. The pool is situated in the lower garden. There is safety gate at the top of the stairs to prevent children wandering down to the pool alone. The lower garden and pool area are spaces with almost total privacy. There are 6 sunbeds by the pool, also a table and chairs and a ping pong table (bats and balls not provided).

At the end of the road there is a children’s play area. There are swings and slides for toddlers and a football/basketball pitch for older kids. Walking towards the village, just 5 minutes away, there is a public squash court that you can use free of charge.

The village also has a private tennis club and gym (Font Martina) and a horse riding centre (Ca L’Alzina). You can hire bikes in St Celoni (Daema Aventura).

Santa Maria de Palautordera offers a selection of shops, supermarkets, bakers, bars and restaurants. There are also banks, printers, taxi,dentist and doctors services, and two pharmacies. On Saturday mornings (from 8am until 1pm) there is a farmers market in the village centre. A larger market, offering fresh food and cheap clothing, is held on Wednesday mornings in St. Celoni.

The immediate neighborhood is extremely peaceful, the only cars that enter the area belong to the local residents. With the occasional exception, noise levels between 00:00 hours and 09:00 are low. Therefore this is an ideal home for people wanting tranquil nights and not recommendable for those inclined to night time revelry.

Please note that the Catalan Government now charges a tourist tax for people 17 years and over. This tax (2017-2018) is 0.90 euros per person per day for a maximum of 7 days (if you stay longer you will not be charged from the 8th day onwards). We will collect this tax from you in cash on your arrival.

Also note that the lower garden and pool area are closed to guests between October and May.

When I retired I decided to remodel this second home and offer it to guests from other countries. That was over ten years ago. I love greeting the family groups when they arrive and hear of their discoveries when they leave.

Why Teresa Gonzalez chose Santa Maria de Palautordera

My father bought this property for it's unique location and the natural spring that would allow him to build a swimming pool for the whole family. Over the years we have continually made improvements to the property and have placed every care in its upkeep. It was (and still is on occasions) our own family holiday home, which is why it is so well equipped.

What makes this villa unique

The villa is in a very priviledged position; on the edge of the village, overlooking some of the most stunning countryside Catalunya has to offer.

The local village is peaceful but as it receives a fair amount of tourists is dotted with shops, bars and restaurants. Saturdays are market days where you'll be able to buy local produce. During the summer months there are various cultural events in all the local villages varying from concerts to kids shows, normally free of charge and in the open air.

Other local facilities include: bike hire, riding school, tennis courts and gym.

Catalonia has all you could wish for a relaxing, interesting and memorable holiday. It's countryside varies from the high mountain regions in the north, down to the wine planes in the south. There are many national parks protecting forest and wild life and of-course beaches and rivers where you can swim or soak up the sun. It's villages and towns are full of historical and cultural interest, you'll find a comprehensive pack of leaflets at the villa.

maison trés bien équipée, propriétaire trés acceuillant

L 'accueil et la disponibilité du propriétaire étaient parfaites, merci encore à Alex pour ses conseils et son aide.

La maison est grande et très bien équipée ( ventilateur dans toutes les pièces, deux frigos, machine à laver, lave vaisselle).

La piscine est parfaite , avec une partie ou vous avez pied, et les bains de soleil sont là pour nous accueillir après la baignade, le jardin est magnifique et très arboré ( pommier, noisetier, kiwi!).

Vila situé dans un quartier très calme, proche du village ( 10 minutes à pieds, 1 h de Barcelone, 35 minutes de la plage.

Le propriétaire tient à disposition un classeur avec les conseils, plan du village très utile.

Area Discription

The Montseny Natural Park, just 8km from the villa is an easily accessible mountainous area located to the north-east of Barcelona. It has been recognized as one of the most valuable geographical areas in Spain for its landscape qualities.It has been declared a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO. Wonderful for walking, hiking, mountain climbing and cycling. Dotted with fresh water fountains and rivers, plus bars and restaurants, which provide refreshing breaks for resting or swimming.

Arenys de Mar is one of the main municipalities of the Maresme. Arenys harbor, for many years the only existing port on the north coast of Barcelona, is the most evident proof of the long history and seafaring tradition of the village. The beaches, framed by hills which run right down to the sea, give a preview of the neighboring Costa Brava.

In Barcelona there are infinite places to discover: architecture, leisure spaces, cinemas, theaters, flamenco shows, the biggest aquarium in Europe, gastronomy, bullfights, art, music, sardanes (traditional Catalan dance), popular festivities.

Girona enjoys a privileged position and preserves some of the most valuable heritage sites in Catalonia, based on three elements that are unique in Europe: its old fortifications , which include the western world's largest sections of wall dating from the time of Charlemagne, one of the best preserved Jewish quarters, and the Cathedral , which has the widest Gothic span in the world, with 23 meters of free space. In addition, in Girona you can see some beautiful Gothic and Romanesque buildings, and contemplate works of art of notable interest in its fascinating museums.
