Ocean views! Relax in a quiet countryside setting, with only a few houses in view. This newly constructed (2011) home has a fully equipped kitchen with tile counter tops and oak cabinets, a large comfortable couch that re configures into a double bed, new queen sized beds, a living room futon, is fully air conditioned except for the bathroom and has a large living room, kitchen, and dining area(with table and seating for 6), plus two large ocean view sliding glass doors leading out to a small lanai with outdoor seating. The isolated design, with separate entrances and parking locations make it likely you will forget there is another unit above. Our on site manager, Rogelio, will take care of your transportation needs to and from the airport or ferry and the house when you rent the vehicle for all the days of your stay.
PLEASE NOTE: There are three units available to rent on the property. If you would like to reserve more than one house at the same time, please complete a separate inquiry form for each of the properties. The VRBO listings are as follows:
* Culebra Island - Upper Breezes – 288656 *Zoni Retreat – 194903 *Zoni Breezes Lower - 345119
We married in the area in 2003 and on a return visit, purchased this property.
Tom Lowell purchased this house in 2006
This property is quiet and secluded with great ocean and mountain views. Its out in the quiet country with just a few neighbors who are fantastic people. Its a different world here, calm, peaceful, and beautiful. Nearby is Zoni Beach, just 3 minutes by vehicle.
Spent a week at Zoni Lower in January. The place was as advertised. The hikes in the hills out back were excellent and proximity to Zoni beach is good. There is a great 4 or so mile round trip if you walk from the house to Playa Larga and then up the beaches and over the headlands (a bit of a scramble) to Zoni. This is the part of the island to be on in my opinion. The big houses are too expensive and stuff "in town" all too dingy. Tom's little retreat is perfect. Def need a Jeep for the road in and NOT a golf cart. I've been to 10 or so Caribbean islands and Culebra is great! You are alone or nearly alone on most of the beaches. Best snorkeling was at Playa Resaca among the rocks all the way to the right a couple hundred yards or so. What a great island. Pretty small so no need to go back there (I like new ground). If you're looking to spend tons of money and "be seen" go to St. Bart's or St. Martin, if you want to chill naked alone on beaches you have to hike into, go to Culebra. Ain't much infrastructure. Thank you Tom.
The unit was very clean and we had lots of hot water and good water pressure in the shower. It was nice to be so close to Zoni Beach. The handy person picked us up at the airport. A repair was made promptly after our complaint.
Please note that you will not see negative reviews or negative statements about this property online because the owner has the following clause in his contract that you must sign: "should renter publish or facilitate publication of any disparaging reviews of the premises on the internet or anywhere else, it is agreed that renter has violated this contract and shall be liable for liquidated damages in the amount of ( amount deleted per website policy) to be charged to renter's credit card, or collected by other means..."
In other words, he will bill you for saying anything negative online. And it is a large amount of money.
As of March 14, 2017, this clause becomes illegal under the Consumer Review Fairness Law. You can google the law to see your rights.
Note that he has a similar "gag clause" in the contract to rent the vehicle.
Property was easy to find, clean and just as pictured. Rogelio was easy to contact. Quet and relaxing.
The description of this was just as it was described. Very quiet and peaceful. You will need to rent the jeep since the house is miles from anything....except Zoni Beach which is about a 15-20 min. walk from the house. There is only one town on the island, Dewey, which has everything you could need. There are restaurants in town, but eating at the kiosks on Flamenco Beach (the only beach with food and bathrooms) was just as good as the restaurants in town and half the price. If you don't mind the price though, be sure to check out the Dingy Dock and Mamacitas...
The house itself is on the top of the hill which makes for a beautiful view if you are in the Upper. We stayed in the Lower but the couple renting the upper were gone for 3 days and told us to make use of the balcony. It really made the stay much more enjoyable with the breezes and the view. Be sure to bring your own beach towels, towels, and washcloths.... if you use more than one......We were given one towel apiece for the whole week, so it was to the "grocery" we went to buy beach towels and bath towels and detergent....The home was nice, but we weren't there that much..the island has so much to offer with the beaches and snorkeling and hiking. Be sure to plan ahead and rent snorkel equipment and beach chairs and coolers, there were none at the house. The do have a boogie board that we had a ball with tho....Staying at the Breezes was good, but I think next time we will try and stay a bit closer to the town and Flamenco beach, which was our favorite. The owner was very helpful and clear about the house's location and the "remoteness" of the location. The drive was about 15-20 minutes to get into town or to some of the other beaches, so if you want to me in the middle of things, this is not the place, but if you want to be secluded and peaceful, and don't mind a bit of a drive, then this place might be just what your'e looking for.
Had a wonderful time in this very clean, comfortable, relaxing location. Stayed in the lower unit and found it to have everything we needed for a truly relaxing vacation. The availability of a car was fantastic and allowed for trying a different beach daily. I recommend this location for a very peaceful, happy vacation.
This is a nice newly constructed duplex. It has a complete kitchen, the open floor plan is great, and the bedrooms are a nice size. We stayed in the "lower" breeze and had a wonderful time. I would highly recommend renting one of the Jeeps. Much of the fun is exploring all the different beaches and you will need a jeep to get to some of them. Don't hesitate - book it and you won't regret it!
Nearby Zoni Beach is one of the finest in the world! Soft white sand, green palms, turquoise crystal clear waters, and few people
Other Activities: shelling, kayaking
