Private Steinhatchee Cabin with Dock and Boat Ramp

Bedrooms 2
Property type cabin
Minimum Stay 2 - 3 nights

About the property

Cabin, 2 Bedrooms + Living area, 2 full Baths, (Sleeps 8)

Congratulations! You have just found one of the best kept secrets of Florida vacations. If you are looking for a quiet, relaxing retreat then you're in the right place.

This cabin has plenty of room for friends and family to enjoy a day of activity outside and a relaxing evening around the campfire.

Bring your canoe or kayak and launch right from the ramp in front of the house and paddle down the creek right to the Gulf.

You may also bring your own boat for a great weekend of fishing, easy launching from the private ramp at the cabin and store it in the covered slip for the duration of your stay.

Most boats 24' or smaller are fine but boats with t-tops are discouraged since there is a low bridge to go under. Our screened fish cleaning house makes cleaning the day's catch convenient. The Gulf is a short, 20-minute boat ride.

Housekeeping services are paid in cash at checkout.

Great Getaway

  • 5 of 5

I love this cabin! We needed to get out of town for a while and so my family of four stayed for a long weekend. We brought our kayaks and went for a paddle. The kitchen is easy to cook in for the whole family and we had plenty of room to relax. We even brought the dog, I just wish the yard was fenced so she wouldn't run off.

The house was clean and secluded. I'll remember this next time we need a little break from the hustle of the city.

Private cabin with prime location on the water with ammenities

  • 4 of 5

Having this cabin right next door to our property was super convenient for a larger get together! We had a blast and it was very nice to have a variety of kitchen utensils and pots/pans etc. since we were doing a lot of cooking. Overall, clean and tidy. One issue was a broken light in one of the bathrooms.

Not at all what was pictured.

  • 1 of 5

The house was unclean with roaches on floor. The beds were described as queens, but were instead double beds. We were unable to go outside due to the amount of bugs. This is not a cabin but instead a trailer. I felt the pictures and descriptions were falsified.

Peaceful, Quiet, Beautiful!

  • 5 of 5

We rented this cabin for scallop season. It was all we needed and more. The cabin is cute, roomy, and well stocked. Everything you can think of (or may have forgot to pack) was there! The owner answered my questions quickly and was accommodating. The washer and dryer work great and were a very welcome amenity. Being able to just step off the dock onto our boat in the covered slip and head out for scallops was great. That was the main reason we chose this location for the private boat ramp and covered boat slip. The location was so peaceful and serene. I definitely recommend this cabin for people who enjoy privacy. Bring bug spray, the mosquitoes were thick. Heed the warnings about the low bridge and shallow creek but it did not cause us any real problems, we just had to take it slow with the pontoon boat. Flat bottom boats are better suited for this creek.

Good accommodations for a scalloping vacation! But......some issues!

  • 3 of 5

This was a good accommodation for our scalloping vacation, much bigger than we had rented the previous years. Vanessa was so easy to deal with and helped us out when we needed it. This property is like 2 trailers put side by side with lots of built-ons around it as decking: an outside deck for the washer and dryer, an upper deck for sitting, a screened-in deck by the dock, and a partially screened scalloping cleaning area by the dock, complete with sinks. It was advertised as "sleeps 8," but really sleeps 6, just glad we brought our inflatable mattress for our 7th person.

WHAT I LIKED: big kitchen with center butcher block, washer and dryer, scallop cleaning area, dockage for 2 boats, ramp to launch boats on property, lots of room.

WHAT I DISLIKED: the mosquitos and horse flies were horrendous (I am still healing after 2 weeks), having to make our beds upon arrival (annoying, as this vacation includes a lot of work for us already), having to strip the beds upon leaving (once again, more work), having to take our trash with us when we leave (and once again, annoying to have to do that), having to clean every dish (we usually do this anyways, given the fact that we cook for every meal, but still having to do this upon departure...annoying), and then having to leave extra money ($60 cash and extra $10 if u leave trash) for the cleaning person. In addition, I assumed this was a property with one house (cabin, trailer, whatever you would like to call it), but there were several other trailers on the property (2 at the front, and 2 or 3 to the side) that were close enough to wonder if our stuff was safe. We did see some sketchy characters in and out of the other trailers, but everything seemed ok. Kind of weird.

WHAT I HATED: Rocky Creek is not called Rocky Creek for nothing. There were cement slabs in the middle of the creek (that we hit our first time out), there are oyster and rock beds all over, and you really have to watch the low tides (something no one really plans on since we were only there for 2 full days). We have an 18' Hewes flatsboat, and we got stuck several times at low tide, we hit a few nebulous hard things, and ended up with about $500 in damage to our prop and skeg. Now, granted we don't have a jack plate, but that probably would have been handy, as we see this seems standard on Carolina Skiffs.

Unfortunately, we had to cancel our next trip at this property, and will stay on the Steinhatchee River from now on!
