Beautiful log home with breathtaking lake and mountain views! Right near Hunter Mountain skiing.
My friends and I, a group of 11, picked this spot for a weekend away from the big city to relax and decompress and we could not have asked for anything more. The house was gorgeous and spotless when we arrived, the nearby lake was beautiful, and the surrounding areas were quiet and perfect a weekend away in the country. We few of us hiked and hit the water and just had an absolute blast. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a good time. Also, the ownership was prompt to respond to any questions, sent us all the info we needed immediately, and were really laid back which made the process easy and refreshing.
Our stay was very enjoyable, only a couple of minutes away from hunter mountain ski resort....the house was very clean, homely and affordable! It is just beside a lake with really nice scenery. Would definitely recommend others to stay here!!
We had a wonderful stay. Our children and ourselves enjoyed our self making it very hard to go home looking forward to coming back up thank you
HAD A FEW ISSUES WHEN FIRST ARRIVED AND A COUPLE OF MINOR PROBLEMS, BUT, THE REST OF THE HOUSE AND PROPERTY WAS ENTIRELY BEAUTIFUL AND EXACTLY WHAT ME AND MY FAMILY EXPECTED. BREATHTAKING VIEWS OF THE MOUNTAIN BACKDROP OVERLOOKING THE LAKE. IT WAS PEACEFUL AND RELAXING FROM THE 1ST MINUTE TO THE LAST. EVERYONE TOTALLY ENJOYED THE ENTIRE STAY. WALKING DISTANCE TO THE BASE OF HUNTER MOUNTAIN SKIING. BATH TOWELS WERE PROVIDED, JUST MAKE SURE YOU BRING WASHCLOTHES AND HAND TOWELS(WE DIDNT). BUT, THAT DIDNT KEEP US FROM HAVING A GREAT STAY. THE BEDS WERE THE MOST COMFORTABLE BEDS I HAVE EVER SLEPT IN. THERE WERE 5 CHAIRS ON THE MAIN BACK DECK, BUT, UNFORTUNATELY 3 WERE BROKEN. COULD ALSO USE SOME CHAIRS FOR AROUND THE FIRE PIT. ALSO ENJOYED WATCHING THE NEIGHBORHOOD BEAR COME AT 1 AM TO KNOCK OVER THE GARBAGE CONTAINER IN THE STREET(GOT COOL PIX). ALSO MAKE SURE YOU READ THE ENTIRE LISTING ABOUT FESTIVAL WEEKENDS AND THE CLEANING FEES. THE HOMEAWAY SITE DOES NOT HAVE THAT INFO. I GOT SURPRISED BY IT, BUT , IT IS CLEARLY STATED(JUST NOT THE AMOUNT). ALISON, THE PROPERTY MANAGER, DOES RESPOND VERY QUICKLY TO ALL EMAILS AND PHONE CALLS. KEEP IN MIND SHE IS A LITTLE BIT OF A TOUGH COOKIE! SHE USES THE TERMS, "MC MANSIONS" AND "TOP OF A MOUNTAIN" A LOT. LOL!!! ALL IN ALL WE LOVED IT, AND WOULD ABSOLUTELY LOVE TO SPEND OUR NEXT OKTOBERFEST WEEKEND HERE. THE BEST PLACE FOR THE PRICE.
We stayed here for Columbus Day weekend and loved it!! The views are fantastic. The house was quite clean, plenty of towels for our larger group. Dining room and kitchen were great for our meals. Large backyard by the lake where we made a campfire each night. If you're looking for a beautiful cabin with views, this is a great place!
The house was nice - the only issues we had were that no one had collected the garbage (outside) from the previous rental so the garbage cans were full and didn't leave much room for us to dispose of our trash. Also, the cable was not working during our stay - we called the owner and they said they needed to have someone come out, but seemed unconcerned. The cable thing was not an issue for me personally, we had beautiful weather and spent most of the time outside.
The property is really beautiful. The lake, the lawn - all great. If I had a better experience with the owners I would not only recommend this place, but I would even stay there again myself.
HOWEVER - I cannot seem to get my security deposit back. It has been months, I have called and sent messages through homeaway. The owner does respond, but alas, no check shows up in my mailbox. One time they said that they thought they had sent it to me, but sent it to another renter with the same last name. Our last correspondence was over 3 weeks ago when I was assured once again that it was being sent out. I even offered that they just paypal me to resolve the issue and they said they would not paypal me because I paid the deposit by check and it needed to be paid back by check. I have used homeaway a couple times before and while its not uncommon to have to request that the owner return the security deposit (Even though it is supposed to occur automatically) - usually once you request it you get it back right away. I have never dealt with a situation like this before.
If I do end up getting it back following this review, I will write an update, but if you don't see one, you can bet that I never got that money back.
The above-referenced rates may vary for Holidays, Festivals, Special Events, Long-Term Rentals, and Repeat Renters. A refundable security deposit is required. Cleaning fee will be deducted from the deposit upon return (assuming no damage). If paying through homeaway or paypal.com, a 2.9% or 2.5% payment convenience fee will be deducted from the security deposit, accordingly. If using Google Wallet, Chase Quickpay or check by mail, then FREE! If applicable, a pet fee will apply.
