Nice place, no concern for guests
The unit was nice, the pictures are relatively accurate. The balcony/'view' are of the hill of Howth...so basically you're looking at a hill and vegetation. It's nice to have outdoor space though and the location on Howth is excellent.
We experienced major issues at check in. We arrived at approx. 10:30 p.m. after a long day of travel, long after the 3 p.m. check in time. Codes worked but no keys. After several calls/texts (difficult if traveling abroad - lucky I had a local sim card already), we caught the owner. She said she'd check and get back to me. After some back and forth we were told someone was on the way. He arrived shortly after midnight - 1.5 hours after we initially made contact and hours after 3 pm check in time. We were told it was a scheduling/calendaring issue between listings on Homeaway and another booking site. We have numerous confirmation emails...assuming owners get the same. Once we got in, the unit was dirty. Cleaner had to stay for a couple hours to clean beds and bathrooms for my elderly in-laws to go to bed...well into the night. The room was never fully cleaned during our stay. We had to clean dirty dishes and some surfaces that were missed in the hasty after-midnight cleanup. All this was relayed to the owner and we received no real apology for the issues or reimbursement/compensation for the lost day. In fact, we never received a reply after we worked out the internet issues (not resolved until late afternoon on the day before our departure - no network name provided/given incorrectly after requested and the password given was wrong, as were several alternatives until we finally got the right one late on our last day).
So, nice place but make sure you confirm your arrival date with the owner even if you have confirmation from HomeAway, apparently that means nothing. Get there early or prepare to wait. Don't expect an help from HomeAway. They wouldn't even chat with me online due to the nature of our issue - the only option is a phone call which is costly from abroad for most travelers. Don't expect any help from the owner, she doesn't seem to care much for her guests...at least not us. I suppose I annoyed her with my insistent calls/emails for access as my elderly in-laws hung in the hall for over an hour. But a little apology and consideration would've gone a long way for a hospitality professional like myself. Got nothing, really disappointed in owner and HomeAway. Probably not using this service next time.

As we informed you before that There was a problem between Airbnb and HomeAway syncing their calendar and we were unaware of your arrival at midnight until
i received your call . Within minutes Our staff jumped out of their beds and worked as fast as possible to get your in-law Comfortable within the hour . They Apologized for the delay and your in-law seemed so happy when they left . In reference to the WiFi code , they can be found on our hospitality page on Home and Away !! Howth is a good place to stay
The property is superficially fine although somewhat marred by:
1) failed bulb in small WC, 2)broken undercupboard bulb in the kitchen 3)failed bulb in master bedroom table lamp 4) mirror on back of en-suite door is loose and dangerous is door is not closed very carefully. 5) Neither bathroom extractor fans appeared to work 6) basin plug in small bathroom no longer works. 7) shower tray in small bath is very sloppy.
These small items proved somewhat irritating and marred wha otherwise would have been a very pleasant stay.
Howth is such a great location and this apartment is convenient to everything. The Dart into Dublin is just across the street and lots of good restaurants around

Once we got past the numerous codes for the gate, doors and garage, the place is lovely! Very quiet and cozy. Lots of sunlight coming in all day long!
Easy walking distance to great seafood restaurants, shops and fun!
We can't wait to stay there again!
The apartment was ideally situated within the main town. Everything was very clean and the accommodation was of a good standard. We're not sure how recently the owner has visited the property but the oven wasn't working, although the rings on top were. Also the TV instructions appear to be for a previous TV. The main issue was the key code for the main gate is wrong on the arrival instructions. I phoned the owner and she kept repeating to follow the instructions, but how could we when the code is wrong! Once we had mastered all the different codes, we soon got the hang of it.
Charming Rental in Howth
Beautifully decorated rental, with up to date amenities, security, and underground parking. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay-close to restaurants, pier, and also quiet enough for a good night's sleep.
