This house is the south side of an oceanfront duplex. Privacy is maintained by an interior connecting doorway that will separate your group from those on the opposite side. Enjoy the large shared oceanfront deck with plenty of furniture for the guests on each side, or spend some private time on the upper oceanfront balcony or street side balcony (separated from the opposite side by a partition wall).

Carolina Joy South offers 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Bed sizes include a King, a Queen, and a Pyramid Bed (Twin on top & Full on bottom). Pillows, spreads, and blankets are provided. Linens are NOT provided, but are available for rental.

This property is located at 1102-B South Shore Drive in Surf City.

This property is NOT available independently during our Maritime, Bungalow, and Buccaneer seasons. A 3-night minimum stay is required during our Castaway season. This property may rent independently if weeks are available last minute during the prime summer season.

Sorry but NO PETS are allowed at this property.

No Smoking is allowed inside this property.

Linens are not provided but can be rented along with your reservation. Please ask for pricing information. Pillows and blankets will be provided for all advertised sleeping arrangements.

This property has a 3 night stay minimum requirement for all reservations during our Castaway and Low Maritime seasons. A 7 night Saturday to Saturday stay will be required during our High Maritime, Bungalow and Buccaneer seasons. Please see rate section for season dates.

No pesky Security Deposits! An Accidental Damage Insurance policy is included with all reservations.

This property offers Keyless Access Entry for speedy check in. An entry code will be provided prior to arrival. Keyless Codes activate at the 3 pm Check In time.

Relaxing stay

Recently we rented the Carolina Joy South for some down time after having a pretty rough couple years helping our senior parents. We loved that it was right on the ocean and the view from the living room & master bedroom were out of this world - so lovely! However, we did have a problem upon arrival. There is a key code sent to the renter to bring with us for getting in the house. Well, upon arrival, the key code wouldn't work! Called Lewis Realty & got the voice mail for the after hours help. Never heard back. Thankfully one of the maintenance guys was next door and he was able to help us get in using his code. That was great but we had to go get groceries and when we got back his code would no longer work. We kept calling the office. Kept calling different numbers I had saved from when we were making the reservation and we were able to reach Jessie who came over to assist. Turns out someone had forgotten to put our code in and on top of that the batteries were low. Also, on the first trip up the steps, my husband fell down because of a raised place in the landing area - one of the boards was warped and sticking up. Bruised his knee pretty bad but fortunately that was all. The next morning we called the office and they sent some of their maintenance guys over to make this repair which they did that same afternoon. So, both the warped step & the key code problem were resolved.

On top of that a few items just needed to be updated a bit. Not sure how often the owners come down but the master bed mattress pad was in very poor condition - we went and bought a new one for while we were there. The can opener didn't work so we bought our own to use. There was no really good frying pan for cooking eggs, etc, so we bought a frying pan for using while there. The railing was very loose coming up the steps so we told the rental office about that as well because we didn't want anyone to get hurt. The water heater element must be going out because when one of us took a shower then we had to wait about a half hour before the other would have enough hot water. Other than those items, nothing much we can think of.

Loved the K-cup coffee pot in the kitchen. Loved the views of the ocean.

All in all a good vacation, but the owners may want to update a few things occasionally. :)

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review and we have corrected any of the issues you encountered. We do want to add that we have an after hours emergency line that rings to cell phones. It is option 3 on our automated after hours assistant. This line was not utilized for the lock out issue. Rather messages were left in the general voice mail box that is only monitored during business hours. We could have responded very quickly if the correct instructions were followed. When we did hear from you, we tested our emergency line several times, it worked as designed for us. It seems the wrong phone key must have been pressed. Overall, we are happy to know that we were able to correct your issues and that you had a pleasant stay. Lewis Realty
