Located on residential block between Brooklyn’s Chinatown(8th Ave), Latin American(5th Ave), Waterfront Bush Terminal Park (Soccer and Baseball playing fields) and Industry City(2nd Ave). The Avenues are filled with ethnic groceries and restaurants, shops and pharmacies. Sunset Park still offers an affordable place to shop and experience a vibrant, multicultural stroll. Just 2.5 blocks down the hill to 45th Street Station (Local R Train) and 1 stop(or a 10min. walk through the park) to 36th Street Station(Express D & N Trains), it is a great location to access Manhattan(approximately 30 minutes) and other parts of hip Brooklyn. The local 5th Ave bus takes you through Park Slope to the Barclay’s Center and down to Brooklyn Heights Waterfront Park. Historic Sunset Park located 1 block away, offers green open spaces and shaded tree spots. It also has a playground, chess tables, handball courts, soccer, basketball, and in summer free swimming pool access in art deco recreation center built by WPA in the 1930’s.
The Schmidt Family welcomes you to their home and hope that you enjoy discovering Sunset Park as you visit the Greater New York City area!

The Schmidt's moved to Sunset Park because of its affordability, the park and its proximity to Manhattan. It is a quiet and warm, family oriented neighborhood. The avenues offer everything you need for local living.
The park, the views, Chinatown, Latin & Chinese street food, affordable shopping, close enough to Manhattan but a sense of getting away from the fray to a real Brooklyn neighborhood.
My venture into a "new," for me, part of Brooklyn was a delightful discovery and the circumstances under which I made that discovery couldn't have been more comfortable. Elise's apartment is tastefully furnished, meticulously clean, conveniently close to bus and subway, and well-stocked with those startup essentials - i.e. coffee, English muffins, butter - that made for a warm welcome. And when I realized I had forgotten to pack my clock, Elise immediately filled that void. The perfect host! While lacking the expensively renovated brownstone "charm" of some other Brooklyn neighborhoods, Sunset Park has a colorful, multi-ethnic vibrancy, which I found endearing, and the huge nearby park is a big plus. It grows on you, as my son, who recently moved there with his children, is discovering. It's what Brooklyn is all about. I definitely plan to return.
Elise was a an excellent communicator, accommodating, pleasant & a good housekeeper! I enjoyed getting better acquainted with her & meeting her mother. She was very prompt answering any questions I had regarding area dining, sightseeing & graciously arranged taxi service for me upon my departure. Thanks Elise! Transportation via bus &/or the train was quite convenient. I enjoyed visiting the park which was nearby. I have already recommended Elise's residence to one of my friends & will consider staying at Elise's residence again upon visiting New York.
Thanks again Elise for helping make my visit to New York fun & memorable!
that says most of it right there. place is quite nice, with lots of small touches such as the well supplied kitchen (maybe next time), and the wonderful art. as it says, a tall person might have a hard time with the bedroom, but we aren't tall, so not a bother. there are noises inherent to being on the bottom floor, but they were minor. the space is well set up, Elise delightful. if this location suits your needs, stay here!! (and the neighborhood's location next to Brooklyn Chinatown was definitely a bonus!)
Elise and her family have created a lovely, cosy refuge--so quiet and restful --but easily accessible to all the Brooklyn hotspots and to Manhattan. The apartment is lovingly designed, very well- equipped, and totally comfortable. We enjoyed staying for more than two weeks and will definitely be back. The neighborhood is great--so diverse and just around the corner from Sunset Park. Elise and Steve couldn't be nicer or more helpful. We highly recommend this listing to everyone who wants a true NY/Brooklyn experience.
My family and I enjoyed staying in this apartment. It is close to the subway, there are plenty of grocery stores nearby, the neighborhood was very diverse, Sunset Park was a great place to stay and view the sunset and the city, and Elise was wonderful in helping in making our stay a pleasant and enjoyable one. We look forward to staying here again.
Cozy little gem. My family and I enjoyed our stay. The apartment was very clean, and it had everything we needed. Elise was very kind and made sure we were comfortable, and even offered a car service to accommodate my son who was in a wheelchair. I would definitely stay here again.

Between Bay Ridge/Coney Island and Park Slope/DUMBO/Brooklyn Heights, visitors are central to hip Brooklyn as well as a short subway ride to The City. Experience food from Mexico, the Dominican Republic and China in this diverse area located one block from Sunset Park where views of the setting sun make it a respite from daily activity.
