Photos and Description of this 4 bedroom holiday chateau / country house in Smithville - THE OLD MILL AT DRY CREEK

Chateau / Country House, 4+ Bedrooms (See Description), 4.5 Baths, (Sleeps 18)

Welcome to our quiet peaceful country home nestled in the Dry Creek valley in Middle Tennessee.

Private and cozy with all the comforts of your home away from home.

The gurgling “Dry Creek” has water year around to attract children (and adults!) of all ages.

Acres of woods, rock bluffs, hills, and caves for exploring.

Our secluded country roads are also great for leisure walking, jogging and biking.

Center Hill Lake is 8 miles away for fishing, boating, and water sports.

Cumberland Caverns is a half hour scenic drive away.

Every 4th of July week end Smithville hosts the famous Fiddlers Jamboree and Crafts festival.

Nashville Music City USA , home of the Grand Ole Opry is just 55 miles away.

Step back in time and relax in a rocking chair on the veranda and reminisce what life may have been like as you read the history of “The Old Mill at Dry Creek” and observe the 16’ overshot waterwheel, the gears, and the grinding stone.

At the end of your fun-filled day, relax around the campfire on the creek bank and swap family stories, or in quiet contemplation observe the evening stars.

Fantastic Thanksgiving Experience!!!

  • 5 of 5

As a blended family(aka Brady bunch), we try to get everyone together for our "Gathering of the Tribes" periodically . This allows everyone to reconnect and catch up with each other. This year the "tribes" assembled at the Old Mill at Dry Creek. All 22 of us ( ages 5 mos to 73) arrived on Wednesday for a truly unique thanksgiving experience! From the old mill house to the cave on the property, the old mill exceeded expectations in every way. Cassie was fantastic and went out of her way to make sure our stay was enjoyable! From the daring adventures to the cave, afternoons on the porch visiting and reminiscing, football games in the yard, to the sing alongside and board games in the evening, this was everything Grandpa hoped it would be! And one of the teenagers commented on the fact that it was great not having the internet as a distraction!

Great place,great people, great weekend

Family Reunion

  • 5 of 5

My family stayed at this location to celebrate my parents 60th wedding anniversary. We had a group of 14, but had plenty of room to spread out. The location is perfect, just far enough out of Nashville to feel like a get-away, but not so far that it took a long time to get there. The house is huge and has plenty of amenities. The kitchen is quite large and has everything you could need. The cave is a lot of fun, and not claustrophobic. The creek and landscaping are beautiful. I was impressed with the accommodations for children. There are two areas with toys for varying age groups, as well as beds for young ones. We will definitely stay here again!

This is a wonderful retreat location

  • 5 of 5

15 family members and I were attending a wedding at nearby Evins Mill and needed a place where we could all be together for the extended weekend. This converted mill house was the perfect place to hold and entertain a group of relatives ages 14 to 86 and, with four showers with plenty of hot water, a huge kitchen and pantry, multiple dining areas (one was used exclusively for puzzles), a campfire, large outdoor cooking area, and trails and caves to explore, no one wanted to leave.

Perfect place to get away from it all!!

  • 5 of 5

When we looked for a family get away, it needed to be: somewhere around Nashville,(as that was the central location for our family to gather) kid-friendly ( 8 between the ages of 14 - 7) and big enough for the 16 of us to not be on top of each other! There were plenty of beds for everyone, however, we couldn't use the basement for sleeping due to the musty smell, so we just brought the mattresses upstairs. The kitchen was well stocked, but for that many people, an additional refrigerator would be really convenient. Other than those two minor things... The Old Mill on Dry Creek was perfect for us! Even the lack of internet (after the first couple hours) didn't seem to matter to the kids! The creek outside was perfect relief for the hot August weather and a great source of exploration for the kids. We spent a day on a rented pontoon boat on Center Hill Lake , toured nearby Cumberland Caverns for the experience, then had the best time ever exploring the cave on the property. If we would have realized how big it was we would have given ourselves more time to explore! After the four days there, no one wanted to leave and the kids are asking when we can come back! Thanks for making this beautiful place available!

Great house

  • 5 of 5

This house is very nice and met our needs for our group, we really enjoyed the cave and stream by the house. This is our 3rd time renting this house and is our favorite place to stay. We will probably be back.

Very Nice!

  • 5 of 5

The Old Mill on Dry Creek was a great place for our family reunion. The house easily and comfortably accommodated the 16 of us. It was very clean and has a kitchen that is well equipped and spacious.

The creek was a great source of pleasure for young and old alike and the mill wheel and accompanying historical information was quite interesting. We did not realize the extent of the cave - a cave system actually - and did not come as prepared to explore it as we would have liked. SO...we hope to return next year for another even more adventurous stay!
