Sunnyside is one of the safest neighborhood in New York. This has been mentioned on the major newspapers and on news.

The house is located on a tree line street, all private houses. The subway 7 train line is 3 blocks away from the house and it takes about 13 minutes to be in Times Square. The cost of a single ride ticket is $2.75 and the cost of the unlimited ride ticket for 1 week is $30. The 7 train runs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. A taxi ride to Manhattan will take you about 15 minutes and about 18 dollars at the most.

Sunnyside is a diverse neighborhood with people from different ethnic backgrounds, Europeans, Japanese, Irish, Koreans, Indians, Nepalis, Tibetans and Spanish. A lot of the professionals working in major companies in Wall street and Manhattan live in Sunnyside. Due to the diversity you have no shortage of restaurants and bars in this neighborhood. One of the best Japanese, Korean, Thai, Turkish, Spanish, Chinese, Vietnamese, Indian, Nepal/ Tibetan can all be found with 3 blocks of the house. There are also cafe shops and chain fast food in Sunnyside: Starbucks, Caffe Bene, Dunkin Donuts, Burger King, Mc Donald..

Sunnyside also has a lot of bars and breakfast/ brunch places to eat. If you want to live healthy there are two parks within 2 blocks of the house where you can play basketball and handball. There is also a health food store that sells organic food.

A small movie theater, a non profit Spanish theater, major grocery stores, hair dressers, nail saloons, tailors, dry cleaners, cell/ mobile phone stores all within 3 blocks of the house.

Since 2006 this neighborhood has been coming up and people are realizing that it is a true gem of New York.

7 Train line is 3 blocks away from the house which runs 24/7 and it takes 15 minutes to be in Times Square center of Manhattan.

Taxi ride to the city are also very cheap and affordable.

From JFK the taxi ride to the house is 35 minutes and costs about 40 dollars and from Laguardia Airport the house is about 20 minutes and costs about 18 dollars.

From JFK, there is an Airtrain ($5) that takes you to the subway station Sutphin Bvd in Jamaica and from there, you can take the E train line until 74th street- Jackson Heights and transfer to the 7 train line until 40th street station.

We expect guests to be responsible people. On arrival a copy of your driver license or Passport is required for security reasons.

When you inquire about the place, please provide full details of yourself and your partner. Where you live, what you do, and how long will you be staying, purpose of your visit and things that interests you.

Great place, close to everything, extreme convenience and comfort

  • 5 of 5

I shared this rental with my teenage daughter over Memorial Day weekend. The property was very clean and fully stocked with paper goods, soaps, etc. The beds were very comfortable and we enjoyed the convenience to shopping and transportation. Anthony was extremely flexible with us regarding checkout and it was greatly appreciated. Neighborhood is very safe, lots of families. Highly recommended for visiting Manhattan as location is easy. Do note that the "subway" in this neighborhood is elevated and the only access is by stairway.

1. Beds were comfortable, linens very nice with comforters and covers / extra pillows would have been nice, as well as extra linens in case of emergency, light bulb in lamp was dead

2. Bathroom very nice, good storage space, great mirrors, lots of very hot water in shower / shower mat was really moldy and gross - create better drainage - drying for mat between showers, leave extra towels, need small wastebasket in bathroom

3. Kitchen equipment was perfect, lots of dishes, soap, etc. / needed a small pot, not just the large one, needed a dish towel

4. Air conditioner worked great / door to bedroom cannot be left closed at night or a/c will not circulate into bedroom

5. Living room futon was comfortable and even opened there was enough room to walk around / not enough stools to sit at small table, need better/more shelving for personal items

Nice and convenient place close to Manhatten

  • 4 of 5

Very good location, about 10 minutes from the Subway what takes you to Time Square approx. 15 min. The area is very quiet, it's good to return and relax after a long walking day. But ear plugs definately needed because you can hear all the steps above you. It's a basement appartement which is perfect for 2 people. Cleaness wasn't perfect but acceptable.

Anthony was very helpful especially when we had some heating problem, he solved it very quickly. And also he was flexible with check in and check out time.

I would recommend this place.

Great place to stay

  • 5 of 5

Nice, very clean apartment. Anthony was their to greet us and show us around. Nice neighborhood, within walking distance to grocery and other merchants. I would stay here again. Very accessible to Manhatten. Only thing that was needed were wash clothes for the bathroom and dish towels and dish clothes in the kitchen.

Convenient to city in a nice quiet neighborhood

  • 5 of 5

Anthony and Laura were great. We needed to check in before the listed check in time and they were very accommodating to make that happen. We got lucky and found parking right in front of the place, which was a huge plus. The neighborhood felt very safe and was quiet. The only time we dealt with noise was early one morning when the upstairs tenants woke up. The next night my husband and I just used ear plugs and it was fine. Nothing that would make me rate this place lower, as you would expect some noise anyway as this is a basement apartment. It is a small space, but well kept and perfect for 2 people and has everything you really need. The subway is a very easy 10-12 minute walk down the street, very easy to get to. And the line takes you right to Grand Central or Times Square in about 15 minutes. There are some good little restaurants around if you don't want to venture into the city, a CVS, a liquor store...everything is very convenient. I would definitely recommend this place if you are looking for something close to but not right in the city.

Comfortable and Cozy Retreat & So Cenvenient

  • 5 of 5

Host was attentive and very responsive to any questions or requests I had. Like that he lives nearby. I felt very safe (solo traveler) & comfortable in a very nicely decorated place with full kitchen, a living/dining room area, and separate bedroom. Very, very convenient to the subway stations into Manhattan. Parking, however, is a problem...but, hey, it's New York! Love the neighborhood and all the local retail and restaurants available nearby including a good-sized grocery store...very walkable area. Loved that it was conveniently only 4 blocks from by son's place...near enough to visit but far enough to allow privacy each of us. Not many places advertised as vacation rentals in Sunnyside area so this was a great find and quite reasonable. I certainly would rent from the Sherpa hosts again. Thank you.

Bien situé mais....

  • 3 of 5

Charline & Florent.
