Great apartment in Foggy Bottom, across street from Metro in area of GW campus. Good restaurants and a Whole Foods adjacent to building. Only complaint is the shades in bedrooms are not room darkening, and the street lights are very bright. You can read in bed all night long! Called management and they said all units had this, they would look into a credit towards our rental fee but the I never heard back again. Too bad, otherwise it's a great place that they could easily make so much better.
The apartment is very well appointed and spacious with a modern flair. I shared it with a colleague, and the two-bed, two-bath layout offers lots of privacy. It has beautiful large windows with fun views of the George Washington area of DC, but the window coverings allow so much light to come through that I could almost read a book in my bedroom with all the lights off! The modern shades are great for the living room, but not at all appropriate for the bedrooms, which are near bright street lights. We were there for three nights, and the first night was extremely loud due to restaurant noise and a street-corner band. The other two nights the noise volume was much less and did not disturb my sleep like the first night. Location can't be beat. The GW metro is literally across the street from the apt. building.
I had rented this unit based on the photos posted and sent to me as confirmation. When we arrived, the first impression was good as this unit is in a nice building, modern, new and well kept. The doorman had our key package and we entered the unit. e arrived very late due to a flight delay, it was past midnight. The unit's entry and hallway lights were not working. We arrived in the living room and it was nothing like the photos we had seen on the website. The layout was different, the furniture was dowdy and damaged. I have pictures of all of them in case anyone is interested. We went to sleep in the master bedroom, and we were unable to sleep since the air conditioning blows right on the bed. The following morning, we noticed that the bathroom lights were burned and 2 of the kitchen lights were burned. I called the management company complaining about all these issues, i was told that a manager would call me, no one called to this day. I tried to use the washing machine and it was not working. The following evening, we decided to sleep in the guest room, but there the air conditioning was not working at all and we were uncomfortably warm the whole night. Needless to say, for the price we paid it was a most disappointing experience.
Our family of four spent the week at Residence on the Avenues. It's a great place to stay while in Washington. You get a very nice apartment in a nice, safe, secure building in a perfect location.
Whole Foods is in the lobby, there are several excellent places to eat on the block, the metro is steps away, and the building is safe and secure. This is a hot block, on the GW campus, and across from the hospital...there is a lot to do right in the foggy bottom/Georgetown area. The White House is a short stroll down Pennsylvania Ave, and the Monuments are also close by -- walk, grab a City Bike, or call an Uber.
The apartment unit itself is very nicely laid out -- master bed/bath with a secondary bedroom and bathroom. The living area is comfortable and the kitchen is nicely equipped. We didn't cook much, but the basics are there for your...note, the cupboards are bare -- no sugar, condiments, etc. But all the pots/pans/plates, etc. are provided. There is also a starter kit -- dish soap, laundry soap (for the in unit washer/dryer), shampoo, etc. -- in the unit. The WiFi was good. It's all very upscale comfortable, the amenities are solid, not luxurious. Think Hilton not Four Seasons.
The building and unit are close to the hospital, so you will hear some ambulance/street traffic. The windows face an expansive inside courtyard -- so it's bright, but there are residences and offices facing you...but it's typical city living. We had zero issues with any of the other folks who live in the building -- they (ranging from students to young professionals) were all very nice. No issues at all.
We were a family of four -- kids aged 9 and 12.
I would return and recommend this place to friends who are looking for a great location to set up to explore and enjoy DC. If you want comfort and room, you can't go wrong. If you are looking for a romantic/luxe/private getaway, check into the Mandarin or Four Seasons.
