About KayDee

Hi, I'm a retired school teacher and lived on this property for 20 years. I love to travel and spent a year living in China and traveled throughout Asia. My father was in the military so I did a lot of moving and traveling as a child. I love the outdoors, hiking, swimming, sailing etc. along with good food and friends.

Why KayDee chose Sebring

This property...Dancinggecko...is the best location on the lake. The prevailing winds blow directly on the property and there is always a cool breeze, plenty of sunshine and a fabulous view. The property is outside of town but close to everything. The cottage sets back off the road and closer to the lake than most homes so its secluded and quiet.

What makes this cottage unique

Dancinggecko is quiet and the neighbors are great and you wouldn't even know they were there. We have fabulous sunrises and moon rises. The full moon glistens on the lake and you'd think the sun was up. There is a slider on the dock to view the lake and plenty of room to do your morning yoga.

great little place

  • 5 of 5

Yes it is small but in a cozy way. Nothing like having coffee and watching the sun rise over the lake. The owner has a cat who became our best friend, but the best part is the owner herself. KayDee made feel so welcome from the first day.

Lakefront in Sebring, quiet paradise

  • 4 of 5

We loved our quiet stay in Red Beach Lake Cottage. The place in an old style cabin with kitchen, living space, small bedroom and bathroom. The view is just beautiful outside of the living windows and on the small deck outside. You can walk down to the pier on the property to enjoy the beautiful lake view.

A little too musty overall.

  • 3 of 5

We love older properties. This one is right in the lake, which was great, and it's cute. The bathroom was pretty clean, but there's a musty smell that aggravated my already developing allergies. When I looked closely I saw that there's lots of dust on the blinds and spider webs in the kitchen window screen. I found out the bed has a feather pillow, which my husband is allergic to. The original ceiling tile is still up in the kitchen and bedroom, and it's stained. This place would be great after a few things like that replaced and a good deep cleaning. If those were done, I'd be back in a heartbeat! The two window air units may need filters cleaned or replaced. It's a beautiful quiet spot.

A pleasant old cabin...

on the lake, comfortable and convenient to both Lake Placid and Sebring, far enough out to be quiet and peaceful.

A little bit of heaven

  • 5 of 5

I loved my stay here. Located on a rural road about 4 miles south of Sebring with 6 large live oak trees the cottage sits well off the road and is quiet. There is a beautiful lakeview from the living room and access to the dock where you can sit on a gliding bench seat and see sunrises. There is a covered parking space. Originally built by a ship's captain the cottage has many nooks and crannies for storage. There is also a working fireplace which I used and enjoyed very much. The cottage reminded me of the nice cottages we stayed at in the Finger Lakes in upstate NY in the 60's where I grew up. They were homey and not the Shangri Las so many are today. Kaydee, the owner, was very accommodating. A new heater was installed while I was there with required wiring which provided more than adequate heat on cool nights. The bathroom was new with a nice shower. The living room was beautifully wood paneled. The kitchen was equipped with microwave, toaster, stove and fridge. I enjoyed sitting on the front patio that overlooked the lake. I particularly like the fact that I could drive into Sebring either on a nearby 4 lane divided road or take a less traveled country road that ran through orange orchards. I had some great weekly breakfasts at different restaurants with a group of local car club members. I also was privileged to attend a Veteran's dinner. I have booked the cottage for next year and can't say enough good about it. And Kaydee, the owner was just super. Thanks
