Single story, 3 bedroom home with views of the Deerfield River Valley and surrounding hills on the Mohawk Trail in East Charlemont. Located 2 miles west of the quaint Village of Shelburne Falls and 7 miles east of Berkshire East Mountain Resort. 40 Acres of private land with hiking trails, old growth forest and abundant wildlife. 6 acres of adjacent meadows are grazed in the summer months by Irish Dexter Cattle. Trout fishing, white water rafting, Zip Line Canopy Tours, Mountain Coaster, Hiking, Skiing, State Parks and many more outdoor activities are minutes away.
This home on the scenic route 2 is light, spacious and welcoming. The sitting room is large with plenty of seating. The beds are comfortable and the kitchen well equipped. There is a large, private woodland out the back, where we enjoyed early morning walks, and a firepit around which we spent a lovely evening. The surrounding area is stunning. We were here at the perfect time for autumn colour, so the drives and walks were quite breath-taking. We had never before seen such an incredible array of different coloured leaves! We drove west to North Adams, stopping at 'The Hairpin' for the most wonderful panoramic views. We also went walking in Mohawk state forest - very peaceful. Going east, we went to Shelburne Falls and had a lovely meal at the Blue Rock restaurant. Unfortunately, it is no longer possible to go down by the falls and potholes, which was disappointing, but there is a good viewing point. We also drove up to the Kringle Candle Co. which was full of lovely things to buy as gifts, though rather expensive. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend this home.
The owners were very accommodating, house very nice, beds comfortable! We enjoyed the large yard and great hiking/biking trails in the back acreage. Highly recommend this property.
What a great house! We needed to be in the Amherst area for a work-related trip, but wanted to mix in some family time with our 17 year old. This house is a 5 minute walk to the Crab Apple rafting company, yet situated in the middle of beautiful rolling hills and far enough off the main road that you don't hear the traffic. After our first day of family rafting at Crab Apple Rafting, our son was able to walk there each day for additional adventures while we traveled the half hour into Amherst. In the evenings we were only 5 minutes from the idyllic New England town of Shelburne Falls where we had amazing dinners and lovely walks around town including the unique "Bridge of Flowers". The house was also only about 15 minutes from the Berkshire East Mountain Resort where we took a trip to ride the longest Mountain coaster in the US. What a thrill! We are already thinking about heading there for winter fun of skiing and snowboarding and will be booking this house.
We stayed for a fabulous and relaxing week at the beautiful home of Larry and Jeanne. Truly, this place is immaculate, and they have provided for anything and everything you could think of so that all you literally need are your clothes. We enjoyed hiking trails, enjoying delicious food at nearby restaurants and having a central location for day trips to Vermont and the Boston area. We LOVED our stay, enjoyed watching the cows grazing in the back yard fields and having family time to relax. We especially enjoyed the homemade lemon zucchini bread baked by Jeanne! We hope to visit again some day!
We rented this home because it was close to where my son, daughter-in-law and 1 month old grandson live. The owners were great to deal with. My questions were answered within a few hours. The day we were to arrive we had an issue that I needed to call the owners about. Larry checked out the situation and called me back within a few minutes. I appreciated him being so prompt. When we arrived we couldn't believe how wonderful and well kept the home was. Tastefully decorated, neat as a pin, well stocked kitchen (although we didn't cook but had breakfast and snacks so we used glasses and mugs). Everything clean, Clean, CLEAN!!! And that's what I like! The beds were comfy and we joked about taking the living room furniture with us it was so comfortable. :) The owners even had homemade pumpkin bread and milk waiting for us. Pumpkin bread was some of the best I've ever eaten. Would I rent this again? In a New York minute! Just a heads up though. If you book in the heat of the summer, which we did, they have a floor AC Unit in the Living Room but not in the bedrooms. We were thankful for cool nights because, even with ceiling and window fans, sleeping would have been tough if we had hot nights. Loved watching the cows in the morning and learning their history through the file left for us. Thank You so much Bruffees! PS The "daughter" that went with me works at a B&B and she really checked out the place - she greatly approved!
This home was conveniently located to many area attractions. We were there for 2 nights in July to go whitewater rafting at Berkshire East (highly recommended). We spent the evenings walking around and dining in Shelburne Falls. The home was equipped with everything one would need including a gas grill and fire pit in the backyard. I wish we could have taken advantage of these amenities, and the yard games in the garage. Maybe next trip. The cows in the backyard were a big hit for my kids. They enjoyed greeting them in the morning, especially the 3 week old calf. So cute.
