Warm Home on a Cold Vacation Stay

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Larry and Jeanne's home in Shelburne Falls. The whole area is so picturesque. And even with temperatures around zero, we were warm inside this lovely home. Our hosts were also gracious to leave a home-baked pumpkin loaf as a welcome. Our family would recommend this home for any time of year for skiing, rafting, hiking, and fun amid a relaxing and beautiful countryside setting. We are looking forward to returning in the spring or summer.

Cute and Cozy Home

  • 5 of 5

My family of five absolutely loved our stay at this house. The owners left us pumpkin bread, which was a perfect breakfast for our first morning as we had not yet made it to the store. Everyone loved it! The kitchen had everything we needed - appliances, condiments, and spices. Mom and Dad were especially happy to find a Keurig machine, in addition to a regular coffee maker. The entire house was clean and well maintained. The beds were also super comfy. We were amazed by how close we were to the cows - every morning after they fed they would walk down to the watering tank near the master bedroom window and greet us with their moo-ing. Our daughter found this so funny that she woke us up giggling one morning. I wish we had more time to see the property but we spent most of our time exploring the area. Shelburne Falls is a cute little town. I highly recommend visiting the candlepin bowling alley - a neat experience for this ten-pin bowler, and the owners were extremely nice. We also found a delicious new "evercrisp" apple and some yummy apple cider at Apex Orchards. It's a few minutes out of town, but they had samples of their apples and the view from their overlook was amazing. We also enjoyed our visits to Boswell's Books (who doesn't love a bookstore with a cat), the Trolley Museum (which was lit up with Christmas lights for the holidays), Hager's Farm Market (yummy apple cider donuts), and to see the Glacial Potholes (an amazing work of nature). I would love to visit in the spring to witness the Bridge of Flowers in bloom. Instead, we were able to attend the town's holiday festival, Moonlight Magic, where the bridge was lit up with Christmas lights and candles. If you don't mind a bit of a drive, I also recommend visiting The Art of Humor Gallery in Wilmington, Vermont, as well as the Chelsea Royal Diner and Grafton Village Cheese Company in Bratteboro, VT. We ate at least $10 worth of cheese in samples alone while we were there! Every evening it was so nice to drive back to the house, which was toasty warm from the oil furnace, where I could make dinner for my family. We ended our days on the comfy couch or chair drinking hot cocoa and watching movies. It really felt like home.

Cozy and Comfortable

  • 4 of 5

We found this home to be perfect for our needs. It is warm and cozy. The owners left us homemade banana bread which was a nice treat. The home was fully furnished and sat back off the road so it was peaceful and quiet. We enjoyed watching the cows!! Renters have the country feel but yet close to stores, towns, attractions. I would highly recommend this property to anyone traveling to the area. We loved it!!!

Cozy place near attractions. Pleasant owners who keep the place tidy and well-stocked. The cows that share the property are cute and friendly too!

Well-appointed, clean house that was close to fun activities! We enjoyed sitting in the yard while the kids played and the cows grazed! Owners are close by and available as needed.
