Overview

About the property

3 Bedroom, 1 Bathroom. 6 Sleeps

Welcome to a cozy 100 year old farmhouse in the rolling hills of East Tennessee. This 3 bedroom 1 bath house is set on a working farm. Wake to roosters crowing and watch the fainting goat herd from the covered back porch. The kitchen and bathroom are newly renovated. The house features hardwood floors and unusual hardwood walls which are original construction. If you tire of relaxing on the wrap around porches you can sit by the wood burning stove and enjoy a movie or the wifi. A gas grill is available for barbecuing as well.

For those who love to explore the outdoors, East Tennessee offers many opportunities. Within 5 minutes drive is the newly opened Tweetsie Trail, a renovated railroad trail stretching from Johnson City to Elizabethton. Slightly further away there are many hiking opportunities with access to the Appalachian Trail, Laurel Falls, and Roan Mountain State Park. Hidden local favorites like the Blue Hole and the Beauty Spot are also nearby. Access to Watauga Lake is approximately 30 minutes away.

This property would make an excellent base for exploring the area or attending local college functions. It has a large backyard as well that could support the gathering of family or friends.

Though in a quiet country setting, the farmhouse is only about 10 minutes from Milligan College and Elizabethton. It is 15 from East Tennessee State University and Johnson City and 40 from Bristol.

bring cleaning supplies

  • 1 of 5

we needed to clean a bit before feeling comfortable. I hosed the building exterior to remove cobwebs, spider webs and spider nests with eggs (looked like black widows) would not sit on outside furniture or use the grill. Inside not much better, my wife would not use the refrigerator without cleaning it, bugs, dust bunnies, left over food from previous guests, etc.. Bathroom was clean, kitchen sink faucet not functioning properly, not directional signs to difficult to find entry.

All the animals looked health but cages filthy, rather disturbing. NOT a working farm, it is owned by professional in Johnson City so no one actually "works" the farm and it is basically neglected 80% of the time. Met the owner, he was kind and knows what to do, just too busy I would guess. Could be wonderful but no one cares .... we left early and will not be back.

Owner's Response: I am sorry you did not enjoy the farm. i have issued a full refund as I always want customers to be satisfied. I am hurt by the one star review for cob webs and spider webs on the OUTSIDE of the house. There are no black widow spiders at the farm. I have since power washed the exterior of the house. The faucet in the kitchen has been fixed as well. Regarding the farm, you mentioned in person that you had little experience with farms. The animals are tended daily and are healthy, they are not neglected at any point. All barns are dirty. Your response to the farm says more about your understanding of how farms work than about my caring about the farm.

Wonderful memories

Thank you for sharing your wonderful farmhouse with us. We so enjoyed the animals and the beautiful gardens. It was my sister's first trip to Bristol and staying at the farmhouse made it that much more memorable.
