The property was spacious with good location, but cool cabin management had terrible customer service. I would suggest owner to change property management company.
We had a rat problem, and were questioned whether there was even a rat. There were maintenance guys that came (1 nice guy and 1 rude guy). The nice guy just fixed the lights for us. The other rude guy came because we had rat problem and another light broke and when he came in first thing he said was I quote "You called me in at this hour for this?". Without us even explaining what we needed he was already upset. Even with multiple people telling him there was a brown rat, he says we probably saw wrong and there was either a mice or nothing.
During our stay we contacted Cool Cabins and two representatives were nice, but the manager was extremely rude to my friend. First I spoke with the manager and she said she could do nothing, but these things:
1. We might have another cabin with a very steep driveway, where our cars couldn't go.
2. We can't send maintenance at night to buy a rat trap.
3. You probably have a mice not a rat. (Many people saw a rat)
3. We don't talk about any form of compensation or anything until after we check out. ( <-- I don't understand what kind of logic this i)
Next my friend wanted to explain how she didn't feel good to management about living with a rat because of hygienic reasons. The conversation became heated and the manager straight up said I refuse to talk to you and hung up on her. I'm not too sure if it is just in Big Bear you do not have many choices so they do not care much about customer service.
The next day the only thing that was provided was a mice trap. The mice trap was so small as it was smaller than the length of an iphone. I have pics, but this review site doesn't allow pics. This goes to show that management did not believe us there was a large brown rat. I personally didn't see the rat, but a bunch of my friends saw it. If one person saw it, I might question it, but multiple people saw the rat and even were able to describe it in detail. We weren't asking for much, just wanted a nice, clean place to stay and have management company believe us.
At the end, we had nowhere to stay so we just decided to not eat in the cabin, organize all our stuff and close all room doors to stay away from the rat. I would not recommend this place to anyone unless owner deals with the rat and changes to a new management company. Hopefully this review helps people out.
Great for familys with dogs. This will be our go to cabin for now on.
My family and I rented the cabin for the long holiday weekend and overall the stay was quite nice. The living room and kitchen were beautiful and the yard was very large which was perfect for my sisters 2 dogs. The master bedroom and bath were very nice and one of the guest rooms was nice. My husband and I stayed in the 3rd bedroom which appeared to be only used if it was needed since it wasn't quite as nice, had some random items in the closet and did not have an actual door handle (just a deadbolt lock). The only complaints were had were there is not internet, the 2 guest beds were quite hard which gave my mom, husband and I (we both have back issues already) sore backs and the coffee maker took about 30 minutes just to make 1 cup of coffee. Overall the stay was good and the location was great!
Bear Snugglin' treated us very well. The cabin was very spacious, we had two couples, two infants, and two dogs in our group and I felt like we could have added a few more and still would have had enough space. The fenced yard was a very big bonus for the dogs, they had plenty of space to run around and explore. We were close to all of the things we wanted to do: bike trails, hiking, and the lake.
However, there were a few cons: The gal with Cool Cabins who checked us in was very unpleasant. She was rude and lacked basic customer service skills. She should take a few notes from the nice girl who helped us with the booking. The kitchen was missing some silverware, only two forks were provided. The sliding door in the master bedroom did not have a screen.
These little hick ups did not really affect our overall stay, we were very satisfied and would definitely come back!
