Property type house
Minimum Stay 2 - 4 nights

About the property

House, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 3 Baths, (Sleeps 4-6)

Come enjoy peace and privacy on 5 acres bordering hundreds of acres of Rain Forest Reserve lands on a property that is in Volcano Village just a mile or two from the shops and restaurants of Volcano. The Hale Hapu'u is a stunning, renovated home with two large king rooms and sleeping space for two additional teens or children in the large double living room. There are three full bathrooms and a kitchen with every major (and most minor) appliance including microwave and dishwasher. The large back deck has a table for eating or smoking, a hammock...

And your stay now includes a relaxing four person soft tub on the back deck.

High def tv with premium satellite channels is included and there is a high def tv in the living room as well as a new high def tv in the forest room.

The entire property can be booked as a two bedroom/three bathroom which includes the main house and Forest Room suite. Or in low season the main house can be booked (king bedroom, living room sleeping and two bathrooms, kitchen, etc.) without the Forest Room for a $100/night rate reduction - in this case you will still have private use of the property.

This home features cathedral ceilings, central wood burning fireplace, a custom gourmet kitchen with Koa cabinets, granite counters, etched glass, and many antiques throughout.

You will love the extra large, luxurious custom bathrooms - they are gorgeous with roomy tiled showers and exquisite forest views - except the third bathroom off the living room which has less views and a tub/shower combo. The main house upstairs suite bathroom has two pedestal sinks and the forest room bathroom has Koa cabinets and granite counters.

Other exceptional features include a massive covered deck with four person soft tub and table and chairs overlooking the lawn and the forest that blankets you in true serenity.

This property is located in Volcano Village in the fabulous Cymbidium Acres neighborhood. It is about a mile from the shops and restaurants of Volcano Village and less than five miles from the Volcanoes National Park. The lovely Volcano Golf and Country Club is just over five minutes away along with the Volcano Winery.

We are under 30 miles from the Hilo Airport.

Please no parties or events at this home.

About Krish Renauer

I am a Realtor/Broker and Artist and have lived in Volcano over 10 years now. I have also lived on Maui, Oahu and spent much time on Kauai so I can help you plan your trip throughout the islands.

My family is very active and love the local activities - our favorites are hiking Kilauea-Iki and picnicking at Bird Park.

Why Krish Renauer chose Volcano

Volcano is one of the most magical places on earth. The tropical rain forest - the only one of its kind in the U.S., the active Volcano and the amazing beauty of this area are all part of why I fell in love with Volcano.

The weather here is just about perfect - especially if you like rain!

If you spend time here you will come to believe in the power and magic of Pele.

What makes this house unique

The Hale Hapu'u is just a minute from the fabulous early Sunday Volcano Farmer's Market at the Cooper Center/playground/skatepark. Another minute and you are in Volcano Village with wonderful restaurants, shops and our intimate post office.

Just another minute down the road and you are at the entrance to the Volcanoes National Park.

Another minute and you pass the Volcano Golf Course, Country Club and Winery.

And just one minute more and you pass Mauna Loa Road which takes you to the enchanting Bird Park with picnic areas and more...

Hale Hapu'u Luxury Home, Fireplace on 5 Acres/Forest Reserve
average rating of 4.8461537 based on 13 reviews

Very nice living space in a great setting convenient to the volcano and Volcano.

  • 4 of 5

The home was exactly as described; fully equipped way beyond expectations including fruit in a bowl. We had a minor issue and it was taken care of right away. We did not need the fireplace and didn't use the jacuzzi as we went to view the volcano every night. The home is not really set up as a rental with the owner's many possessions still in place. The home is up for sale in case you are interested.

Beautiful place to stay close to the National Park

  • 5 of 5

The house was everything we hoped for, clean, quiet, restful, comfortable. They had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. Owners were easy to communicate with and even provided us with helpful tips to prepare for our stay.

Beautiful, serene, hevenly!

  • 4 of 5

From a location perspective This place is splendid. Perfect for two adult couples, the split master suites, and I mean suites, where perfect! My only complaints, if I have any are uncomfortable living room furniture, and the dampness of the interior. A dehumidifier could really help with the later.

Magical home and service

  • 5 of 5

First it should be noted that the communication with the owner, Krish, was superb. She was very responsive to all our requests and gave very detailed and expansive information to help us in our planning. All questions she answered immediately. Krish does not live in Volcano, but has someone nearby to call if anything is needed. As it turned out, we wanted to watch a football game that was apparently on a channel that was unavailable. We made a call to see if this was the case...and in about 10 minutes received a call back informing us that they'd just upgraded the cable package and the channel was indeed already activated. Now that is terrific service! In addition, when we arrived, there was a basket of fresh papaya and bananas that were delicious.

As to the house itself, first impressions don't do justice. As we drove up, the outside seemed a bit lack-lustre. But enter inside and what a splendid surprise. It is gorgeous, especially if you like wood as we do. The furnishings, decoration and much of the style reminded us of Japan and Indonesia. Both bedrooms and bathrooms are very big. The bathrooms are stocked with various toiletries and have large walk-in showers with a view. The beds were comfy with new linens. The kitchen was one of (if not THE) best stocked of any home/condo we've stayed. With a bit of chill at night, we enjoyed sitting around the fireplace with a glass of wine. A morning hot tub on the covered deck outside was exquisite. In short, the house was terrific...we'd definitely stay again.

Serene and luxurious home in Volcano

  • 5 of 5

We just spent three nights at Hale Hapu'u for our visit to Volcano National Park. We loved everything about the house and grounds: the open layout of the house, the comfortable lounge areas and the welcoming back deck to relax and to listen to the sounds of the rainforest. The kitchen was extremely well stocked for a rental house; we found everything we were looking for. As for location and proximity to VNP, Hale Hapu'u could not be beat; we were in the park within 10 minutes. This made it easy to go to the park in the morning to explore and hike, take a midday rest and then return in the evening to view the caldera glow and hike to the lava flow. We would absolutely recommend this property and Krish was a pleasure to work with. Mahalo Krish!
