About the property

Three Bedroom Two Bath Cottage On The Muscongus Bay-Breathtaking Water Views

Come experience all the Mid-Coast of Maine has to offer in beautiful Friendship. Centrally located between Portland and Bar Harbor, Friendship is just minutes away from many of Maine's finest attractions. Our cottage is directly on the water with a private dock for easy boat launch. Bring your own small boat or use one of the three kayaks or one canoe that are included in this rental or, bring your larger boat and launch it from the town landing, less than a mile from the cottage. The Cottage is nicely appointed with three bedrooms including a Master Bedroom with a Queen-sized bed and a sleeping loft with twin beds that your kids will just love! There is also a lower level bedroom with a queen sized futon. The mattress is very high quality to assure your comfort. This bedroom also has its own full bathroom for amazing privacy in the lower level. There is also a futon located in the living room to sleep two additional guests. With high ceilings and a large deck the cottage feels spacious and airy even when you have a full house! Spend your days at the cottage reading on the deck as you take in the breathtaking view while listening to the lobster boats as they haul in their catch. Take long walks or go explore surrounding islands in a kayak or take a long nap while listening to the harbor seals call to one another. On a foggy day you may want to curl up in front of the fireplace with your dog sleeping by your side. Wood is provided! The more adventurous may want to spend days golfing, shopping, touring lighthouses or taking harbor cruises. The tourist towns of Rockland, Camden and Damariscotta are all just a 30-40 minute drive. Even Acadia National Park is only a two hour drive. After a long day of sightseeing, you can return to Friendship for peace and serenity.

Note, Friendship is a small town with a small general store and just one or two shops. But you can still walk for an ice cream cone in the evening or go to the harbor when the lobster boats are coming in and buy lobster as fresh as it gets! It is a perfect little Mid-Coast Maine Village that you will fall in love with.

About Amy Waldron

I own this home with my sisters and have been vacationing in Friendship since I was a small child. I can't imagine anywhere else I would rather own a vacation home.

Amy Waldron purchased this cabin in 2002

Why Amy Waldron chose Friendship

This is the property my family rented when I was young. Years later my Father decided he wanted to purchase the property when it became available for sale. He spent many lovely weeks here before passing away. I love this home with its perfect view of the Bay and its cozy cabin feel.

We were so disappointed of the place. Its advertised incorrectly.

  • 3 of 5

It's rustic okay. But it's incompletely attended. It needs clean up more. The deck has no light and few of the lamp has dead bulb. I will not recommend it to anyone.

Owner's Response: I pride myself on having a rustic yet very well attended cabin. I received numerous phone calls from these renters who seemed unfamiliar with renting a home-yet I responded to every concern including how to turn on the light switches, how to turn on the heat, how to find the local general store, how to operate the grill etc. They texted me during their stay to indicate they were enjoying their stay. The deck does not have a light and nowhere is this advertised. Luckily we have many return renters who have all been completely satisfied. The rustic charm and appeal of small town Friendship is not for everyone, unfortunately. But for a peaceful, genuine Maine experience I assure you the cabin fits the bill. And I am more than happy to answer any of your questions. Thanks for reading.

Real Maine Experience

  • 4 of 5

For those looking for an authentic Maine experience, this Friendship log house is the perfect choice. We were two retired couples traveling with our two Labs and wanted to experience life in Maine. This rustic cottage has all the necessities plus many extras. The location, on a quiet cove, was perfect for relaxing, kayaking, and enjoying amazing sunsets. The wood burning stove was great for cool evenings and the town of Friendship offered a true Maine atmosphere with plenty of fresh lobster and other sea food. Don't miss going to the Pemaquid Point Lighthouse. We hope to return to Maine and will definitely plan to stay at this cottage again.

Perfect in every way!

  • 5 of 5

The property and contents were better than described! The sunsets from the dock or porch were fantastic. Amy provided everything we could need in the kitchen, and everywhere in the house. Even the faucet water was delicious. We thoroughly recommend this home. We hated to leave!

We loved the enchanted cottage nestled in the pines!

  • 4 of 5

We made full use of the kayaks and canoe, games, deck & dock with kids & dogs. Friendly, quiet, dog friendly neighborhood. Peaceful inlet, even seals to watch at sunset! The only reasons we held back the last star were the squeaky beds upstairs, no sound insulation, (we took mattresses of frames after first night), and adults found bed in master brm uncomfortable (nothing a memory foam topper won't fix). Still-we had an amazing week and hope to make a yearly Friendship pilgrimage from now on, with the Waldron cabin becoming a special place for our family.

A Wonderful Vacation Home!

  • 5 of 5

Thank you, Amy, for opening your rental home to us for our annual vacation in Maine. We have been coming to Maine since 2010 and this was the best, by far, outdoor space we have been able to experience. The inside of the home was lovely as well, but we are outdoor kind of people so we really enjoyed it. The deck on the home was perfect, the dock was perfect and two of the days we say the harbor seals, which was very exciting! We had one rainy morning, which was perfect for hanging out inside, playing games and reading. I had adequate cell phone signal, (AT&T) but it did surprise me to find that even though I had cell signal and could call home or text, there isn't any internet service available, which was absolutely fine. We had a wonderful time and look forward to returning next year!

Owner's Response: I greatly appreciate your taking the time to write such a kind review. We just had the dock completely rebuilt and agree it is one of our favorite features of the house. I hope you can return soon.

Magical Waterfront Spot Provides Endless Opportunities to Enjoy the Natural Beauty of Muscongus Bay!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I rented this simple but comfortable waterfront cottage for 3 weeks in July of 2017. Over that time period, we hosted our adult children and their friends, as well as some other extended family members, and everyone enjoyed their time immensely. The cottage had everything we needed for our stay, and the owner was very responsive whenever we had a question. The neighbors are very friendly and helpful, as well. It was great to have folks across the street who are life long Maine residents, and they were very willing to share their knowledge of the area with us.

This home has a beautiful deck overlooking the water, as well as a brand new, floating dock. We enjoyed using the kayaks which are provided with the cottage. All of our guests went kayaking, including my 86 year old mother! There are many inlets and coves to explore, where even novice paddlers are comfortable. Those of us who were a little bit more ambitious enjoyed paddling on the "big water" as well. My husband and I kayaked many times over the three weeks, and we still have a great deal to discover next summer. The wildlife in the area is incredible. There is a seal haul out (small rocky island where seals rest daily) directly in front of the cottage. We watched seals every day at low tide. We frequently saw osprey, eagles, herons, cormorants, kingfishers, terns, eiders, loons, gulls, and many other birds.

This is a cottage is on a quiet street in the small town of Friendship. Several ferry boat docks are within an easy drive, if you want to visit any of the nearby islands or take a whale or puffin watching cruise. Rockland Is also a wonderful little city that is easily accessible and has excellent restaurants, shopping, and art galleries. You can also take day trips to Acadia National Park or the city of Portland.

This cottage is very comfortable and well equipped. The owner was very welcoming to our 2 large dogs and we were glad to be able to have them with us. It is not a fancy resort in the middle of a busy tourist area. It is a restful place from which you can explore the natural beauty of Maine, and learn about its culture and people. My husband and I are already planning our return next summer. We also hope to spend a long weekend this Fall and enjoy the beautiful wood stove.
