Description

Photos and Description of this 3 bedroom holiday home in Keeseville - King Anchorage

House, 3 Bedrooms, 2 Bath, (Sleeps 8)

Come find out why we love our camp, the lake, and the North Country so much. Whether it's quiet evenings in a rocking chair on the screened in porch watching the moon rise over the lake, or for the fun and adventures the lake and the Adirondack North Country have to offer, this camp has and does it all. The fall colors are spectacular in the North Country and seeing them by boat from the lake is something special.

Built in 1939 by my Grandfather, modernized in the 80's, now it's available for you to enjoy. I live on the property. I have a separate apartment, so you can see as little or as much of me as you like. I'm there to be your tour guide, boat captain, watersport instructor for wakeboarding, waterskiing, stand up paddleboarding, and tubing, leading day hikes and beautiful road bike rides, or just in the background as your invisible caretaker making sure everything goes smoothly. I grew up spending summers at the camp and it's by far one of the most beautiful and fun places in the world.

Wake up in the queen bed to the sound of waves lapping at the shoreline in the master bedroom. Then coffee at the kitchen table overlooking the lake. The second bedroom has twin beds and is private and quiet. The kids room is just that, with bunk beds, 2 single beds and their own tv, board games and fun, but trust me, they won't be doing anything other than sleeping in there after all there is to do during the day at the camp. Rain or shine there is always something to do. Mornings, get up early and cut up the glassy water before anyone else. Then a bike ride over rolling hills along the lake, or a hike up Pocomoonshine, paddle out to Schuyler island for a secluded picnic, swimming and tubing in the afternoon. For the less adventurous, shopping in Lake Placid, take the ferry over to Burlington for the day, or head up to Montreal, Canada's largest city. Don't forget your passport! Rainy days are nice too. Explore Ausable Chasm and raft down the Ausable river, Parc Safari and waterpark is just over the border an hour away. At the end of the day cool down on the screened in porch, or warm up in front of the large fireplace in the living room. Roast marshmellows over a bonfire on the beach, then lay back and count shooting stars. Life at the camp is great. Come and find out for yourself.

About Jonathan King

I spend my winters in Tahoe teaching skiing at Squaw Valley USA. I spend my summers at the camp teaching wakeboarding, waterskiing, stand up paddleboarding, leading bike rides and day hikes. I also know how to relax and enjoy the scenery and serenity of wherever I'm at.

Jonathan King purchased this house in 1939

Why Jonathan King chose Lake Champlain Valley

My family has been on Lake Champlain for over 100 yrs. We've all traveled all over the world, but always end up back at the camp. This is not an overly developed part of the lake. It's still just many of the same families from the 30's.

What makes this house unique

Take advantage of me. I know the North Country and all it has to offer and want to share it with you. My motorboat is available. I love to take people out tubing or for a lake tour. I also teach wakeboarding and water skiing. I have a separate apartment on the property and can also remain invisible. This is your vacation. whatever works best for you.

Amazing, superb, fantastic!!!

  • 5 of 5

We were looking to spend the Columbus day weekend around lake Champlain and HomeAway got us to this beautiful rental home.

Booking was a breeze thru the HomeAway application. First installation, around a third of the total payment, is required when booking. The second installment was due 3 weeks before the stay dates. I missed the email notifications (was careless of me to do that) but the owner is kind man and accepted the late payment.

We reached the cabin on Friday after midnight. In owner's word "This is country side, doors unlocked, lights on!" and that's the way it was! Totally loved the house from the moment we drove to the area (though it was midnight). Deers greet you frequently on the way.

The hall is beautifully decorated, 3 spacious rooms and a well equipped bathroom. (Jonathan has plans to add another bathroom). Kitchen is fully equipped, you just need to take your clothes and grocery. Jonathan stays on the floor below and is available to help all the time.

Now, few things which you will love about the place:

1. The dock - this is a lake facing property and the dock is, I feel, essential ;)

2. Life jackets - all clean and well maintained.

3. The boats - There is a canoe, a paddle boat and a row boat. The boats are in excellent shape and we had fun boating. Water was little cold for our comfort so no dip but it is a great experience. Kudos to Jonathan!!!

4. The "lounge" - a beautiful, comfortable spacious room with a sofa, 6 rocking chairs, small tables and a great lake view. This has to be your spot for the morning to see the sun coming over the lake.

5. The barbeque - the barbeque oven and the chairs next to it, is a perfect setup for a nice afternoon party! The gas tank was full and we loved it ;)

6. The games - there is a good collection of board games in the lounge room, we had long nights with these.

The house is well kept and you will have ample linen, the stove is electric, there is a electric toaster, microwave oven. The dishwasher is movable and you would need to move to near sink to use it, no sweat.

We did enjoy the fireplace as well in the hall, you have to get your own wood, get it from Stewart's, few miles from the house.

All in all I would really like to visit again, the summer trip is done and hopefully I can check this out in winter, the lake freezes in the winter and I haven't seen that yet!!!

Kudos to Jonathan!! Amazing, superb, fantastic!!!

Fun time on Lake Champlain

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed a delightful stay at Jonathan's house right on the lake. There were lots of toys including a power boat and stand up paddle boards. The house is close to Ausable Chasm and that was a treat. Jonathan was a gracious host who was very helpful. It was a great place for our family with children in their 20s. We loved spending time on the screen porch and playing games in the evening. The kitchen was adequately appointed for basic meals.

What a place!

  • 5 of 5

Jonathan is gracious and friendly host. The camp house left nothing to be desired- everything as described. If you are looking for a place with a great view, great lakeside access, and plenty to do in the vicinity King's Anchorage is the place to stay. Only drawback is the nearby train- which makes for some great smushed coin keepsakes!

Excellent and Relaxing Vacation

  • 5 of 5

We spent a 3 day weekend with my family and had a great time. The host, Jonathan was amazingly attentive and acted as our guide for the motorboat. We had gotten to utilize the canoe, paddleboards, and life jackets with no problems. The lake was a beautiful view to wake up to. We all enjoyed our stay here and it's all because of the amenities and great service that was provided. Highly recommend.

GREAT LOCATION AND BEAUTIFUL PROPERTY!!!!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed a week and woke up to the most beautiful sunrises over the water. The owner, Jonathan, was on hand and was tremendous in making sure there was everything we needed. The camp has so much history and so many stories! Would definitely stay here again. It's close to Whiteface Mountain, the ferry over to Vermont and many, many historical and natural sites.
