It was good
This cabin was a very nice place. It was comfortable, clean and quiet. It had plenty of room for the six of us and baby.
I was disappointed in the deceptive picture that appeared to show the cabin right on the lake. It was a good five-six minute walk through the woods. It was concerning how much housekeeping was expected.
Love the shower.
I am glad you enjoyed Cabin in the Sky and that you appreciated the supplies, amenities and charm of our cabin. Thanks for your response and comments. I am confused by your comment that we somehow misrepresented the proximity of the house to the beach. Below is the description of the beach and location taken directly from the description on our listing of the property. We were very specific that the beach is 300 yards down a private dirt road. See below taken from the listing.
"The private beach is accessible from our private road on 12 wooded acres. Ideal for fishing, hiking, canoeing and country living.
Beachfront-The private beach is on a point that is at the end of a 300 yd private dirt road. The beach area includes a small dock, and float, and a canoe. "
You mentioned that the pictures were deceiving. I can't find any pictures that shows the beach and the house being in close proximity.
I am not sure how else we could present the property more honestly and fairly. I hope after you review our listing you will agree as well.
You mentioned that you were surprised at how much housekeeping was involved. I believe that the house was clean and fully prepared for your visit and that you did not have to do any housekeeping upon your arrival. I did inspect the house before your arrival and felt that the house was in very nice condition including a bouquet of flowers on the kitchen table to welcome your arrival. Please let me know if that was not the case.
The house was beautiful and the accommodations were great.. The lake for the 4th of July was perfect. The only negative was the lack of air conditioning as there was a heat wave when we were there, the house hit very close to 90 degrees. I definitely would come back and would recommend this house.
Thanks Francis for your nice review. We were feeling the heat ourselves from the heat wave and I bought a large air conditioner for the living area for the Cabin in the Sky. Hopefully that will make a difference in the event of another extraordinary heat wave.
Thanks again and so glad you enjoyed your visit.
Clean and Comfortable,
Alan the owner was responsive and welcoming. The house was clean and comfortable. The upstairs washer and dryer was an added perk. Only 30 minutes from Mount Sunapee
A very nice place to spend some time with friends
We stayed over the weekend and enjoyed hiking (nearby Pillsbury State Park, behind the house), paddling around the lake on the canoe (especially nice under the stars), and hanging around the fireplace during the rain.
The kitchen is well equipped. We cooked a lot (chili, pizzas, cookies, stir-fry, pancakes) and had no problems.
I found all the older rooms and features to be very interesting. I particularly found the old stove fascinating. The bedroom reminded me of my granddad's cabin.
1040 Faxon Hill
I had several people stay in the house for a wedding that was happening in Hillsborough and everybody raved about the house, It was beautiful the lake was great, the children and parents loved it! I will recommend it to family and friends for next summer
Great get away!
We got married at Camp Morgan Lodge and spent the week using this house as our base camp. The main room is beautiful and a great place to relax with the whole family. The bedrooms are comfortable and the kitchen is well appointed and fun to cook in.
The beach is beautiful and my (new) husband was able to take the kayak out a few times. It was beautiful and very relaxing! Thanks so much for a great vacation.
