Overview

About the property

Cottage, 2 Bedrooms + Loft, 1.5 Baths (See Deborah's Guesthouses for more)

This cozy cottage was built in the 1800's and recently rehabbed. Quaint but eclectic, this home offers tin ceilings, an exposed brick chimney, original pine floors, art glass windows, and tons of natural light.

The first bedroom has a queen bed with a half bath attached.

The second bedroom is actually a sunroom with a queen-size canopy bed. It has its own sink area, as well as access to the outdoors. Three large skylights welcome the morning sunshine.

Children will love the loft, with its two tented twin beds. Also, there is a queen size sleeper-mattress on the floor for further sleeping, as well as video viewing.

Off the loft is a small screened-in porch that opens onto a 20' x 20' deck.

The kitchen and living room combine to make one large room. Food and fellowship are always a winning combination.

The laundry room is available for your convenience.

About Deborah

As a flight attendant, I stay in quality hotels almost every week... so cleanliness is very important to me. If you call and my phone is off, I'm probably on the airplane or in Germany--But I will call you back in 1-3 days--or email me, I'm often connected to the internet.

I moved to Petersburg in 1998 for the country setting, which was still only 25 minutes from downtown Cincinnati, and 13 miles from the Cincinnati airport (CVG).

Petersburg has only about 300 residents, not counting the cows at the one end of town. It's not unusual to hear the clop-clop-clop of horses' hooves as they ride down the street.

The first time I drove into town, the winding road reminded me of driving in the Italian Alps. Since I travel for a living, I was delighted to find my own 'Mayberry' with a touch of Italy.

Deborah purchased this cottage in 2003

What makes this cottage unique

The vacation home is located one block from the community center, which has a playground available to all, as well as basketball hoops and a ball diamond. There's a small park on the river's edge, as well as access to the river itself for kayaking, fishing, canoeing, etc. Our tiny post office is 2 blocks from the house, and if you like walking, it's exactly one mile around town.

6 miles away is the historic Dinsmore Homestead, and across from Dinsmore is Middle Creek Park (Boone County), which is great for hiking. About 13 miles away is Rabbit Hash, KY, which has a wonderful old general store. (Google any of these attractions for more info.)

Owner's Response: Thanks so much for coming to stay with us! And you're right about the Cottage being "old" -- it was built in the 1800's, and so it has seen a lot of years :)) Some things get better with age, and houses are in that category for me. Maybe it's obvious... I love old houses! If anyone is looking for perfection, this may not be the house for you. But if you like Pinterest, natural light, art glass, old floors, and fun spaces, you'll definitely enjoy the Cottage!

Truly a Home Away from Home!

  • 5 of 5

What appears to be small on the outside turned out to be big on the inside. This cozy cottage had plenty of room for our family of 6. The location was perfect for visiting Cincinnati, the Ark Encounter, and the Creation Museum. We really appreciated all of the little touches and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Can't wait to return!

We loved this house, the kids really did. They loved the upstairs.

The house was prefect. Plenty of room and very clean. And was close to the

Museum, and not to far from the ark. I would stay here again.

Cute home in a different era

  • 4 of 5

We rather enjoyed the home! We loved the décor and the original wood and furnishings was lovely! The layout worked out well for our party of 7. My mom did have to kill quite a few spiders, but I believe that helped with the old era charm. :-) Overall it was an awesome experience and we are thankful we had the opportunity to stay here. It's proximity to the Creation Museum was great! We did have to travel a bit further to get to the Ark Experience, and nice restaurants, but that was not at all a big deal. Just watch out for the curvy mountains on the way!!
