Overview

About the property

Cottage, 2 Bedrooms + Loft, 1.5 Baths (See Deborah's Guesthouses for more)

This cozy cottage was built in the 1800's and recently rehabbed. Quaint but eclectic, this home offers tin ceilings, an exposed brick chimney, original pine floors, art glass windows, and tons of natural light.

The first bedroom has a queen bed with a half bath attached.

The second bedroom is actually a sunroom with a queen-size canopy bed. It has its own sink area, as well as access to the outdoors. Three large skylights welcome the morning sunshine.

Children will love the loft, with its two tented twin beds. Also, there is a queen size sleeper-mattress on the floor for further sleeping, as well as video viewing.

Off the loft is a small screened-in porch that opens onto a 20' x 20' deck.

The kitchen and living room combine to make one large room. Food and fellowship are always a winning combination.

The laundry room is available for your convenience.

About Deborah

As a flight attendant, I stay in quality hotels almost every week... so cleanliness is very important to me. If you call and my phone is off, I'm probably on the airplane or in Germany--But I will call you back in 1-3 days--or email me, I'm often connected to the internet.

I moved to Petersburg in 1998 for the country setting, which was still only 25 minutes from downtown Cincinnati, and 13 miles from the Cincinnati airport (CVG).

Petersburg has only about 300 residents, not counting the cows at the one end of town. It's not unusual to hear the clop-clop-clop of horses' hooves as they ride down the street.

The first time I drove into town, the winding road reminded me of driving in the Italian Alps. Since I travel for a living, I was delighted to find my own 'Mayberry' with a touch of Italy.

Deborah purchased this cottage in 2003

What makes this cottage unique

The vacation home is located one block from the community center, which has a playground available to all, as well as basketball hoops and a ball diamond. There's a small park on the river's edge, as well as access to the river itself for kayaking, fishing, canoeing, etc. Our tiny post office is 2 blocks from the house, and if you like walking, it's exactly one mile around town.

6 miles away is the historic Dinsmore Homestead, and across from Dinsmore is Middle Creek Park (Boone County), which is great for hiking. About 13 miles away is Rabbit Hash, KY, which has a wonderful old general store. (Google any of these attractions for more info.)

Fun Family Vacation Spot

  • 5 of 5

I loved the sweet little Cottage in Petersburg! It was roomy, charming, and delightful. 5 of us stayed there, and we had more than enough room to spread out. We enjoyed having seperate bedrooms, but being able to come together to cook, enjoy meals, play games, and watch TV. The owner and property manager thought of almost everything. We used the grill to make some delicious dinners. There were hooks in just the right places. There were even wonderful books to read! We visited the Ark Encounter, the Creation Museum, and downtown Cincinnati. This was the perfect place to stay to be close enough to all of those.

Very nice, Unique loft

  • 5 of 5

As always, neat, clean well equipped. We always enjoy our stay in Deborah's guest houses. She and Wanda treat us like family. We have never been disappointed in any of her guest houses, and more cozy and economical than a hotel for a family vacation. We go for the Ark Encounter and Creation Museum, but there are many other attractions in the area.

Grandparents, children and grandchildren

  • 5 of 5

The house was clean, comfortable, great grill! Perfect fit for 3 couples and 2 children.

The first night we arrived too late to catch a bite of supper at the local restaurant so had to travel a bit to find a hamburger.

We've recommended your hospitality over and over!!!

Good, quick communication with owner/coordinator.

Little house close to the ski slopes.

  • 4 of 5

Hotels are so expensive when you have a family of 7. We always look to rent houses and cook our own meals. This little house was perfect for taking the kids to the ski slopes. The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare breakfast and dinner. Our youngest children enjoyed the loft.

Just what we needed

  • 4 of 5

This was a great place to stay. Location, cleanliness, kitchen, and ample space were all assets. The advertised price does not include tax, cleaning fee, and service fee. I would recommend this place.
