Overview

About the property

Cottage, 2 Bedrooms + Loft, 1.5 Baths (See Deborah's Guesthouses for more)

This cozy cottage was built in the 1800's and recently rehabbed. Quaint but eclectic, this home offers tin ceilings, an exposed brick chimney, original pine floors, art glass windows, and tons of natural light.

The first bedroom has a queen bed with a half bath attached.

The second bedroom is actually a sunroom with a queen-size canopy bed. It has its own sink area, as well as access to the outdoors. Three large skylights welcome the morning sunshine.

Children will love the loft, with its two tented twin beds. Also, there is a queen size sleeper-mattress on the floor for further sleeping, as well as video viewing.

Off the loft is a small screened-in porch that opens onto a 20' x 20' deck.

The kitchen and living room combine to make one large room. Food and fellowship are always a winning combination.

The laundry room is available for your convenience.

About Deborah

As a flight attendant, I stay in quality hotels almost every week... so cleanliness is very important to me. If you call and my phone is off, I'm probably on the airplane or in Germany--But I will call you back in 1-3 days--or email me, I'm often connected to the internet.

I moved to Petersburg in 1998 for the country setting, which was still only 25 minutes from downtown Cincinnati, and 13 miles from the Cincinnati airport (CVG).

Petersburg has only about 300 residents, not counting the cows at the one end of town. It's not unusual to hear the clop-clop-clop of horses' hooves as they ride down the street.

The first time I drove into town, the winding road reminded me of driving in the Italian Alps. Since I travel for a living, I was delighted to find my own 'Mayberry' with a touch of Italy.

Deborah purchased this cottage in 2003

What makes this cottage unique

The vacation home is located one block from the community center, which has a playground available to all, as well as basketball hoops and a ball diamond. There's a small park on the river's edge, as well as access to the river itself for kayaking, fishing, canoeing, etc. Our tiny post office is 2 blocks from the house, and if you like walking, it's exactly one mile around town.

6 miles away is the historic Dinsmore Homestead, and across from Dinsmore is Middle Creek Park (Boone County), which is great for hiking. About 13 miles away is Rabbit Hash, KY, which has a wonderful old general store. (Google any of these attractions for more info.)

Our Stay at The Cottage

  • 5 of 5

The Cottage was cozy, cute and comfortable. We had plenty of room for 7 of us - five adults and two children. We had 4 generations represented. Everything we needed for cooking meals to housekeeping was available.

We highly recommend The Bank and The Cottage. Each time we visit The Creation Meseum and this time The Ark Experience, our group is larger. Perhaps our next visit will stay in The Victorian or The General Store.

Thank you Deborah for your vision, hospitality and ministry.

Great place to stay

  • 4 of 5

This was our 2nd time staying in this house. We really like the house and being able to fix our own meals and hang out with friends and family who joined us. The owner is really nice and willing to answer questions before and during the stay. It would be nice if the second bathroom had a shower, but we made it work. Great location in a quiet neighborhood with a nearby playground for the kids and a short walk to the river.

Charming and Cozy

  • 5 of 5

There were 8 of us--ranging from 7 to 72 and we all loved the character of The Cottage. It had lots of neat cozy places for the young ones, like the loft, and the charm and necessities we all needed! The house is kept up very well and had Wifi and movies to play, etc. We all had a great time at The Cottage, Creation Museum, and The Ark. Thanks for your high standards! We will use HomeAway again.

A very neat house with room for plenty of guests.

  • 5 of 5

We rented this place for my brother-in-law's family to stay while visiting the Creation Museum. The kids were thrilled with the house and enjoyed staying there. The town is nice and quiet and the location very convenient to get to the museum.

Sweet little town

  • 5 of 5

The house was bigger than it appeared on the website. It was fully equipped with everything travelers could need. The beds were extra comfortable and inviting! I'd recommend this cottage to anyone!
