About Judy Howell
John and Judy Howell were working for the government in the DC area, and got married in Maggie Valley. They fell in love with the area and began to look for property. They feel completely blessed to have found this beautiful slice of heaven, which they named Howells at the Moon Farm.
Judy Howell purchased this Cabin in 2012
Why Judy Howell chose Waynesville
This property is so unique. It was an old farm and in the same family until early 2000. It's on 13 acres, surrounded by meadows and forests, with spectacular mountain views. You will feel like you are isolated in nature, but are in fact minutes away from towns, shopping and activities. It is, truly, the best of both worlds. This property has hiking trails, long range mountain views, mountain streams, and privacy.
What makes this Cabin unique
From the front porch of the cabin, you can sit with a glass of wine or hot cup of cocoa, and gaze at the mist in the woods and hear the leaves rustling. Just listen to the sounds of nature and watch the fireflies dance in the evening. You will forget how hectic life can be when everything here is so tranquil. The cabin is cozy and comfortable; it's charm and hominess is to be enjoyed by couples, honeymooners, or folks looking to get away. The bedroom is comfy, outfitted in soft bed linens. After a day spent hiking or shopping, you will look forward to snuggling up in your nest. The living room has games and cards, but also has Roku TV and wireless internet for times when you want to 'plug back in'. You will love staying here; it's like your home away from home. There are streams on the property, and we are chicken and bee keepers and grow our own produce. The property will delight you and renew your spirit. Breathe in the fresh mountain air and feel yourself relax.

Relaxing, enjoyable, great get away
The cabin was great, clean and well stocked with the essentials. The property was quiet, relaxing and very enjoyable! Waynesville is a neat town plenty to explore excellent downtown area.
The cabin was perfect! It was clean and had everything we needed.
We love the property and especially the hot tub! A nice creek and privacy… What more could you ask for?
So much better than a hotel!!
This is our kind of way to stay in the mountains. The cozy cabin was just big enough for our family of 4. Every part of the cabin was well stocked. The hot tub was wonderful and the secluded location in the shadows of the Blue Ridge Mountains was just what we were looking for.
We loved the cabin. The eggs that Judy left were amazing. The bed was so comfy. We asked for more wood and she got it to us very quickly. We will definitely be back!
Had a great time of relaxation and rest. Enjoyed seeing the turkeys relaxing in the hot tub.
The cabin was just perfect.
My wife and I stayed here for a weekend for a nice winter hiking get away and we enjoyed every minute of it! The place was so clean and felt so cozy with all the nice amenities provided. Town access is just a few minutes away and hiking is anywhere between 30 and 90 minutes away depending on where you're headed.
Oh, and the hot tub is awesome! Thank you so much, we had such a wonderful time. We can't wait to visit again.
The property is located very close to the Blue Ridge Parkway, the Great Smoky Mountain National Park, historic downtown Waynesville, Maggie Valley, and Cherokee. There is great fishing and hiking spots nearby, as well as skiing in the winter.
Additional pricing information
Please be advised that if you are checking in the same day a prior guest checks out, the hot tub will not be up to temperature that evening. We drain, clean and refill the hot tub between each guest, as required by NC law, and same day turn overs are not enough time to get the tub up to temperature. It will be hot by the next morning.
