Enjoy the peace and tranquility of a quiet mountain lake, towering pines, amazing sunsets and night skies filled with bright, sparkling stars. Located on five acres, this charming lakefront cabin overlooks Saturday Pond, Perfect for those lazy days of summer filled with swimming, canoeing, fishing (off the dock or in one of the lake’s coves), reading a book in the hammock, picking blueberries, lobster dinners, barbecues and cooking marshmallows for s’mores over the fire pit at the lake's edge. For a change of scenery, drive to the Maine coast for the day to swim at one of its many beaches, visit its lighthouses and quaint towns.

About Saturday Pond: Saturday Pond, a spring-fed, crystal clear lake is home to several loons, hawks, great blue herons, osprey and an occasional eagle and moose. The lake is 179 acres with maximum depths of about 25 feet and has bass, perch and pickerel in its waters which makes for great fishing. Saturday Pond is located in the town of Otisfield, Maine about 35 miles northwest of Portland near the Sebago Lakes region.

About the Cabin: With a screened porch furnished with wicker furniture and a large picture window, this vacation retreat provides spectacular views of the lake and its wildlife. During the season, pick blueberries out the front door of your cabin or gaze at the brilliant stars in the dark summer skies. The cabin has a common area which houses its living, kitchen and dining areas and two bedrooms: one bedroom with a queen-sized bed and another with two twin-sized beds. Pillows and comforters are supplied. Guests need to bring their own sheets, towels, paper goods and charcoal. Rent this cabin alone or with a larger cabin located nearby for a perfect private compound to share with another family or set of friends. Pets are welcome here with prior arrangement.

Shopping: Shopping abounds only forty-five minutes away in the Mount Washington area of North Conway, New Hampshire or about an hour’s drive to Freeport, the home of the original LL Bean store and many designer outlets. Or, visit the many shops and fine restaurants also an hour away in the Old Port Exchange in Portland. During the crisp days of autumn, enjoy the fall foliage and breathtaking mountain views while visiting the many antique shops, gift stores, local farm stands and country fairs.

Amazing setting, wonderful stay

  • 5 of 5

Situated on the shore of peaceful Saturday Pond, our rental (Cabin 5) was everything we needed to relax and get away from it all. Simple functional kitchen, we kept bathroom and bedrooms, air conditioners (didn't need them much), ceiling fans. We loved the shared canoes and kayaks, but really all you need is to sit on one of the docks and watch the clouds go by. Good communication, clear directions to arrive and how to do everything needed (trash, etc.) Decent enough internet (we wanted to get away from it all), plus we watched some olypics on the tv at night. Definitely would reccommend, with the only caveat being you are sharing the docks and gigantic yard, was not a problem at all for us and our three kids.

Owner's Response: We want to thank Eli for his review. For potential future guests reading this review, we’d like to clarify some of Eli's comments. There are 2 cabins on this 5-acre waterfront property. Each cabin has its own fire pit, hammock, dock and canoe. Our intent is not for the waterfront area - i.e. the docks and canoes, to be shared. After this review, we designated which canoe is attached to each cabin and separated the waterfront with a landscape barrier. We also own some kayaks which “do not come with the property” so-to-speak. However, if we’re not using them, we let our guests share their use. Our 'front yard' is about 2 acres from either side of each cabin's property and going down to the waterfront. Most guests respect the privacy of the guests in the other cabin and stay within the area of their cabin down to the waterfront. If you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. Thanks so much! - Ellen and Jim

Perfect cabin, with a perfect porch overlooking a quiet lake.

  • 5 of 5

People who rent properties should come and stay here to learn how it should be done. In my opinion, this is the perfect cabin. It is appointed perfectly without being cluttered, it is warm and welcoming, and the owners do not overburden you with rules, making you feel like you will be lucky to get your deposit back. I am somewhat picky on cleanliness, and this cabin was very clean. Also, the owners were happy to provide me with linens, as I live in Texas and certainly could not bring my own.

With respect to the environment, not only is the cabin itself delightful, the lake is beautiful and peaceful, and the area is very quiet.

Things to consider: no dishwasher, washing machine or dryer; no restaurants close by, and the closest ones that we found were pretty mediocre. I am also pretty picky when it comes to restaurants -- I prefer healthy options, so I was better off going to the nearby farm stand and preparing my own food in the wonderful, cozy cabin.

There are five rental cabins on the property, but there is a pretty good amount of space between the cabins.
