I moved to California from England in 1978 for "a couple of months" to see if I would like to live here! Well, 37 years later I'm still here so I guess I like it! I still go back to the UK a couple of times a year but Malibu is definitely my home. I bought Sage Hill Ranch in 2005 & planted the vineyard & put in the horse corrals.
Gabrielle Harris purchased this house in 2005
I love the peace & tranquility up here & the views are unbeatable! I love to hike & trail ride so this is the best spot for both of those pursuits.
My family really enjoyed staying at the property. We took couple of hikes; easy for the family and the views are incredible. Relatively close to Malibu but still away and secluded. We really wanted relaxing long weekend and we got it.
The house was idyllic and peaceful. A true retreat from the hustle and bustle, yet close enough to the towns of Malibu and Santa Monica for us to enjoy what they had to offer!!
Loved the stay here. Quite the scenic drive to get there, definitely want to drive in day light hours. Very relaxing. Wine was awesome!
This is a great house, on an interesting property. Great hike around the top of the mountain from which you can see the LA basin and the San Gabriela to the east, and the Pacific to the west. It was too chilly to use the pool, but it looked great. Gabrielle was super-flexible about everything and made us feel very comfortable. Would definitely stay there again. The drive up there at night is a little hairy though--just know that and avoid doing it at night.
Narrow, twisty road up the mountain, but once you're up here Gabrielle's house is delightful. Worked well for our grown family at Christmastime.
Charming sitting areas beyond every window for when the weather's warm. Harvest table in the dining area for family meals, and another for quick breakfasts in the kitchen. Complete morning provisions (and a bottle of wine) in place for our late arrival a most welcome addition. It's always hard to cook in someone else's kitchen but the necessities are there. Lots of handsome crockery! Beds are good, baths are fine, plenty of closets; communication to the outside world...not so much, at least for our carriers. There's even a little view of the Pacific!
Great location (glad it doesn't snow here, the roads would be scary), nice guest house with beautiful outdoor space and they even left us a bottle of the wine they make next door! Mindy was great and very responsive to the things we needed. Great value for the location.
Sage Hill Ranch is 5.5 miles up Latigo Canyon from PCH. It is very quiet & secluded - surrounded by National Park Land. 15 minutes from the beach & 20 minutes to stores, restaurants & movie theaters.
