About the property

Great Location; Walk to State Park, 5 Minutes to Ski Resort

Sited high on a wooded cliff overlooking the valley below with a beautiful trout stream, this cottage is in located in the heart of the Laurel Highlands. Walking distance to State Parks and Restaurant, and just minutes from resorts and other activities.

Craftsman Style Cottage has been completely renovated and for 2014 and is like new. The living room features a 2 story stone fireplace with tongue and groove atrium ceiling, skylights, and 2 mission style sofas, recliner. The new kitchen features stainless steel appliances including a dishwasher, full sized refrigerator, smooth top oven, built-in microwave, and Cusineart coffee maker. A butcher block kitchen island seats 2 for informal dining, while the adjoining dining area with handmade rustic lighting fixtures seats 6. The dining area has french doors which open up to a covered porch and outdoor eating area, providing a continuous indoor/outdoor seasonal living/dining area.

There are 3 bedrooms, including a large master bedroom with built in window seat and high-end queen Sleep Number Mattress, with adjustable firmness to match your exact preference. Each of the 2 additional bedrooms sleep 2, with plenty of closet and dresser space and a dedicated half bath. A top-of-the line LG Front load Laundry center provided further convenience. The cottage easily sleeps 6, but can accommodate up to 8 guests.

All plumbing and heating systems are new, with new bathroom fixtures, an efficient central heat pump for both heating and cooling, and individual room temperature controls. On a cold winters night, the stone fireplace with low maintenance gas insert provides for additional heat and ambiance.

A big attraction of this property is the access to the outdoors. A large multi-level wrap around deck provides outdoor living space, and sits high above the bubbling trout stream in the valley below. The deck is built around a hemlock tree, which provides for pleasant summer shade. Huge rock outcroppings, mountain laurel, and ferns surround the property. Private trails provide access to a mountain spring and the stream, available for fishing (class 1 trout stream). The property is private, and backs to hundreds of acres of undeveloped mountain property. A trail leads directly to the adjoining state park, with lake, sand beach, and numerous hiking and picnic options.

A sunroom provides a lovely place to enjoy the outdoors, even if the weather is not cooperative. With windows on 3 sides, rustic timber walls, and very a comfortable Lloyd Flanders Wicker set, it oozes with cottage charm!

Area attractions include ski and golf resorts, wineries, Frank Lloyd Wright's Fallingwater, White Water Rafting, Amusement Parks, and biking. Additionally, the neighboring resorts offer restaurants, spas, concerts, and summer day camps.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We made it here safe and sound, the cabin and surrounding outdoors is just beautiful, and we're grilling our supper as I write this! Everything at the cottage looked fine with no problems that we could see.

Loved this cute cabin!

We were so impressed by this cute cabin! Very clean and had all the fun essentials of a getaway weekend! It rained on Saturday so we weren't able to utilize the fire pit outside but we definitely would like to stay again we loved it there! Thank you so much!

Very very pleased!

This place was perfect. Had 6 people stay for 2 nights and I couldn't have found a better spot for a weekend getaway. Thanks David for making this an easy choice and we will be returning for another stay in the future.

Cozy little cabin. Perfect for a weekend ski trip to Hidden Valley!

  • 4 of 5

This is a sweet little cabin with everything you need for a short weekend away. The owner, Dave, was great to work with and quickly helped troubleshoot the minor issues we encountered. The kitchen is well-stocked - even had some essentials for us like coffee, filters, olive oil, etc. Also had tons of nice bath towels, paper goods, which was great to not have haul along when you're only staying a short while. We arrived in snow at night and were happy to see a shovel and ice melt as well!

We had some minor issues with the tv and fireplace but Dave was ready with suggestions that worked right away.

The cabin is quiet - beautiful wooded setting, but not far from the main road and just a quick drive from Hidden Valley.

Would love to come back again and even in the spring to enjoy the state park at the end of the road.
