A perfect place for a quiet vacation retreat.

  • 5 of 5

I thoroughly enjoyed my time at the Naalehu Cabins. Patty and her staff are friendly, gracious and helpful. The cabin itself was clean and comfortable and has everything a person may need; Wi-Fi, coffee, cooking gear, even a back door and private yard, and as a guest you are welcome to use the laundry. If you are looking to spend time exploring the South end of the island this is the perfect place to stay. I will stay here again.

Lovely place to stay for a few days!

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed staying in the cabin. It was clean and with all of the amenities to make our stay quite comfortable! It was great having the sit-in area and the table to enjoy our take out dinners ...The noise from the restaurant was not distracting as it closed very early in the evening! We didn't mind being woken up early by the roosters and the morning activity from the townspeople... it actually added to the experience of staying in the heart of this charming little town. Thank you Patti for hosting us!

Clean and comfortable

  • 5 of 5

This is not a 5 star hotel, and that's the way we like it. We stayed in the 2 room cabin. It was clean, comfortable, and had a number of nice personal touches. You have access to a grill, washer & dryer, and a nice garden area behind the cabin. Not to mention the refrigerator and microwave, which come in handy for the leftovers from the very good restaurant the cabin sits behind. You're also within walking distance of a shrimp truck and one of the best bakeries on the island. You're close to the green sand beach. (If you don't want to walk the 5 miles round trip, you can catch ride a for $20 in a local's 4 wheel drive.) And the Punalu'u black sand beach, where you can snorkel with the turtles, or just admire them on the beach. And the Volcanos NP is less than an hour away. A great place to see the sights and enjoy some of the real Hawai'i.

Classic Hawaii Atmosphere

  • 5 of 5

I saw some bad reviews of this place but I thought it was great. It was clean, all the linens smelled really fresh, there was plenty of hot water, comfortable bed, two different good restaurants within walking distance, and a washer and dryer available to use. There are few of these unknown treasures left.

Cute place, good price, location might not be perfect for all.

  • 4 of 5

We stayed in Cabin #2. The place is bright, airy and well appointed. The general location is great if you are looking for a place to stay near South Point and is very close to some great food, including the Hana Hou restaurant the owners of this property also own (a perk to us, the pie is amazing). Most things close by 7, 9 at the latest. Plan accordingly to get dinner early, the restaurant open later is OK, but other places are better. There is a nice TV, but almost no channels which is fine because it gives you time to plan out all the great places nearby to visit.

The property is located near other properties, very close. If you are not accustom to living close to others (like in an urban apartment), you might find the noise of your neighbors disturbing. Also, this town, like most of rural Hawai'i, goes to bed at dark and gets up with the sun. If you're coming from a resort or a bigger city it might be surprising to hear your neighbors at 6 or 7 am. Roll with it and get an early start also.

Owner's Response: You gave a perfect review only thing I would suggest is that if the traveler is noise sensitive earplugs are a great solution. Come see us again Aloha patty
