Area isn’t good, very remote. No shampoo, hand soap, or drinkable water.
The property itself is nice. Rooms are spacious for family. However, it is in a booney hard to get around. If you’re looking for a place near the ocean this isn’t it. Tap water isn’t drinkable. We had booked both villas for 5 nights, but left after one night.
I’m sorry that you were disappointed, however not very surprised. You changed your reservation many times before arrival, as you were not sure where, for how many people and the amount of days you wanted to come for. You loved the place and told me to improve the photos in the site, as the were disserving the villas.
I’m not sure you had enough time to go to the ocean, 300 m far, as you left the next morning.
This area is one of the most wanted and beautiful in the south coast, we are very close to Miami Beach and Oistins.
We recommend to hire a car, but a lot of our guests stayed there and used public transportation.
Everyone in the island drinks tap water, as it is perfectly drinkable. I explained this to you, upon your arrival. Soap and other amenities are available as well.
The property is not on the sea, but that is clearly stated in the description.
A good time was had by all
We had a wonderful stay and enjoyed being in Barbados again. The house was well presented, maintained and in a good location. A nice improvement would be an electric kettle. Also tea, coffee, milk and water on arrival. We had a great time, thanks Silvia
First time in Barbados
We stayed in one of the villas at Freights Bay Mews for a two week period in January, our first time in Barbados. Silvia was quick to respond regarding the initial booking and very helpful answering any queries we had. She met us on arrival and also kept in touch with us throughout our stay. The villa was exactly as described and photographed and very comfortable. The nearest sandy beach is Enterprise/Miami which is used by the locals as well. There are not many restaurants within walking distance from the villa so a car is essential.
Good for families and close to beaches.
We were a group of two grandparents, four parents and two toddlers. We rented one of the two semi-detached houses on the property. We found the house clean, spacious, attractive and comfortable. The kitchen is well-equipped for making your own meals. Food is very expensive in Barbados, however, so if there are particular foods that you like, or specialty foods that you require e.g. gluten-free products or special foods for babies and toddlers, bring them with you. The same goes for disposable diapers. We were an eight-minute walk from Cotton Bay, one of the best beaches on the island for surfing. If you walk a further 8-10 minutes, you're at Miami (Enterprise) Beach which has a wide sand beach and is good for swimming. Oistins is a short drive away and that's where we did our grocery shopping. There are lots of restaurants in Oistins as well, but Bar 557, about a five-minute walk from the house, offers good food at reasonable prices and is patronised by both locals and visitors. You can find it on Google Maps. Sylvia was easily accessible by phone whenever we needed information or had issues requiring attention. We had a couple of problems with the fridge and dishwasher, but Sylvia dealt with these promptly and effectively. I would recommend renting a vehicle if you're staying here (parking is on site at no additional cost), especially if you have children with you. We appreciated the washer, window screens, and air conditioning in the bedrooms. There is no clothes dryer, but laundry dries in no time when hung on the clothes line outside. The house has lots of doors and windows, and there always seems to be a good breeze to keep the house comfortable during the day. The house is set back from Enterprise Coast Road, so there is no traffic noise, but the road is not particularly busy anyway. The neighbourhood is safe and quiet, part from the roosters and dogs, which are found everywhere on the island. I would certainly recommend Sylvia's place to other visitors.
A month in the sun
My husband and I have just returned from spending a month in Barbados, staying at Freights Bay Mews, villa 2. During that time we had various members of our family join us for short periods. The house suited us very well. It is light and airy, and pretty well equipped. The accommodation was flexible enough to cater for young children and older people. It feels secure and private, while being accessible to everything we needed. The garden was a bonus, allowing space for the children to play, and eating breakfast on the terrace was always a pleasure. I think villa 2 gets more sun during the day, which suited us well. It truly felt like a home where we could relax and enjoy our holiday. The location is great, close to Freights Bay and Miami Beach as well as Oistins, which provided all our food through the fish market, fruit and veg stalls and the supermarket. It is also close to Silver Sands, a spectacular beach for water sports. Silvia was always accessible and answered our queries and requests promptly and efficiently. Nothing was too much trouble. She met us at the start of our holiday and showed us everything we needed to feel secure and at home. When we had queries, WhatsApp provided a quick response from Silvia and helpful information. I have no hesitation is recommending Freights Bay Mews highly. We are regular visitors to Barbados and have stayed in many locations on the island and this certainly compares well with many places we have stayed.
Great hosts, great house, great location. Short walk to SUP and surf at Freights Bay, and a great house for just hanging around on the deck. Recommended 100%.
Freights Bay Mews consists of two stunning three-bedroom semi-detached villas conveniently located at the Southern tip of the island, in a newly-built luxurious gated community with private road access. A picturesque, relaxing beach perfect for the whole family; Miami Beach, is a mere ten-minutes walk away. Freights Bay Beach, is one of Barbados' renowned surfing beaches heavily accredited for learning to surf or for a relaxing swim, is found two minutes away as well. A short five minute walk would take the more adventurous or already experienced surfers to South Point, one of the best surf spots in the island. Silver Sands and Long Beach are just short car rides away, and are the best windsurf and kite-surf beaches. Oistins, Barbados' top notch fish market, is found just fifteen minutes walk away; perfect for touring, buying fresh fish or having dinner to the sound of the waves and sweet Caribbean music.
