My wife and I grew up in Bay Ridge Brooklyn and both vacationed in the Catskill mountains while growing up. It has always been a special area for us. As an adult I had to the honor of working as a Musician at Levon Helm's Midnight Ramble for many years, which prompted us to purchase this home. The house has a really great energy to it, it feeds our souls and leaves us yearning for our next visit. We are really glad that we have decided to share the experience of our home and area with others.
Peter Bennett purchased this house in 2007
The property has very easy access on a beautiful scenic road across from a creek. It is conveniently located in the middle of the Catskill mountain region allowing for easy travel to neighboring towns for skiing, hiking,Saugerties HITS horse shows, golfing and many more outdoor recreational activities.
This place was just perfect for our ladies getaway! The house was centrally located to all the areas we wanted to see. The property was just as photographed. There were plenty of amenities and plenty of space. Comfortable sleeping. Easy check in and out. As another reviewer stated there is a sulfur odor to the water in the bathroom. Wouldn't keep us from coming back - just letting others know in case you are sensitive to the smell like I am. Bottled drinking water was left for us. The kitchen appliances were really nice. Did not see any laundry on site - but was not an issue for our stay. Owners were easy to communicate with and responsive. We brought some of our own wood for the outdoor fire pit but never ended up needing it. There did not seem to be wood supplied - so keep in mind if you want a campfire. Great Stay! THANKS
We were very happy with our stay, the home was very inviting and clean. Will definitely be back.
The house itself is easy to find, in a great location and exactly as pictured. So cute and comfy for a quick trip. The TV/wifi situation is great with NetFlix and Amazon streaming. The one issue I wish we had known about is the smell - there is a strong sulphur smell emanating from the bathroom. We texted the owners to let them know and they quickly responded to let us know that the house water is safe, just drawn from a well which can cause a smell. They also sent the property manager over to change the water filter but by then we were getting ready to head out for the day. If that issue is resolved, the house is a great option for lodging in the area!
Our only negative comment concerning this home away property is it's close to a very busy highway and if your not accustomed to street traffic you may be awakened by the traffic. The owners were easy to work with and very helpful. Their home was very comfortable and had everything needed for our stay.
After a long day driving up from NYC with several stops to hike and sightsee along the way; this house was exactly what we needed. It was very clean and had all the basic essentials to help us cook dinner and have a nice relaxing night after a day of hiking.
The owners are very kind, helpful and responsive!
Perfect getaway for our family from booking to the very end checking out. The owners were wonderful! Janet was so helpful great communication answered all my question an more, being this was our first time booking through vrbo/home away we were nervous but Janet was so nice an comforting made everything so pleasant!!! The house itself was perfect immaculately clean. House decor is very simple an minimal which in our case it is perfect due to our 1 year old who crawls an climbs an pulls down on anything he can get his hands in this was a super plus an it was small enough where I wasn't worried if he was not in sight it was perfect highly recommended for familys with a baby!! The backyard is a nice size an is fenced it which is also a plus our 4 year old had tons of fun playing in the snow with no worry while we cooked lunch due to it fenced it we weren't worried he'd wander off an the big windows in kitchen also gives you a great view of the yard ( great spot for coffee an tea in morning) the beds were super comfy an sheets smell like they were just washed, along with the big sectional that was super comfy too. We had a small issue with the heat the 2nd night an Janet was very thoughtful an offered us a night for free for the heat problem which was resolved rite away , which was extremely nice. We went to hunter mountain which was about 35 mins awAy an it was a nice scenic ride. We also did night time skiing at windham that was a bit far but it's the only night time skiing we found an that was about an hour but definitely worth the ride . Overall we had thee perfect winter getaway full of fun for the kids an full of fun for adults the town of Woodstock is great an also Kingston had good restaurants. I would so definitely recommended this home to any family with kids or not for a getaway.
( if you're looking for a more secluded Private property hidden away this isn't so this house is rite off the road) still very nice an perfect for us!!! Looking forward to returning if not again during winter season definitely in the spring. We're beyond happy with our experience.
Thanks to the Bennettes an also Terry ( property manager) for fixing heat 😉
