About Juanita David

I love the Endless Mountains, it is one of the most beautiful places around PA to relax. The people here are friendly and you will love the snow shining like glittering gold dust. My children grew up here. Their days were filled with the richness of all the important things that matter most in life! Like the little things we take for granted, like walking barefoot in the snow, hiding themselves in the dry leaves in the fall, picking apples, blueberries and making pies, camping in the summer heat, watching the Mama Bear playing with her young cubs by the mailbox, watching the Snow White Fox strolling by like he owned our place and most certainly did. Seeing the White Teal Deer dressing our beautiful landscape. There are some wonderful little plays performances in the area that the wonderful people of Thompson, PA worked very hard to put on. They give so much of themselves to help the community and entertain everyone passing by. We have a fabulous small Antique shop here and the discoveries will mesmerize you. Here you find many simple things to do and be at peace away from the big city hustle. Time for a stroll by the trails then hop on a real hay ride by the back roads. See the sunset and feel the cool breeze of the evening then settle down with a wonderful book by the sunroom glow as the sun sets. This is one of the best things in life. So come and join us and will we tell stories long & short funny ones and sad ones too. You can create your own stories here true ones and fiction just for fun! Enjoy the beauty that surrounds you each day to the fullest!

Why Juanita David chose Thompson

My Daughter was 4 years old and we visit PA on vacation passing by the house my daughter ask to stop. She wanted to see if the house was for sale and she fell in love with the house. As we were leaving she said to me very softly, “Mami some day we will live here." As we were leaving, she blew a kiss from doorway and destiny gathered us here. We have live here for 31 years with many adventures. Sad and happy ones too and I frankly wouldn't change a thing. The many people we met here, the countless stories, places and people now gone. Yes, what an education we acquired coming from New York City. It was extremely an experience of a lifetime! I know one thing, I Loved every minute of it! I thank God, I was given this opportunity in my lifetime, to live in such a beautiful tranquil place!

What makes this farmhouse unique

This is called God's Country, due to its natural beauty or so I was told. When I first got here from New York City, and they weren't joking -- you call on "God" here a lot, when the snow is 4 feet tall, and you are running out of wood for your stove but you survive. When you lose the electricity due to a power outage but it is repaired, when your pond freezes over and you have to carry water for a few animals you enjoy having on your land, when you go down the mountainside on your own or when you go hunting then your freezing looking for that one Deer that you need to have. When you get up in the morning and the landscape is painted by the "Hand of God" and the sunshine! You see the wild turkeys in your backyard, oh yes this is God's Country! The most beautiful place in the Universe! You will see the waterfall freeze with multi rainbow colors on them like a wonderful masterpiece painted by God almighty himself! This is what I call peace and heaven on earth.

We needed a place to celebrate my dads 80th birthday since we live 2 1/2 hours away and he lives in a trailer in Jackson Twp. This place was roomy enough with comfortable beds, stocked kitchen items for preparing meals, linens, toiletries etc. The owner was very good at responding to any questions. Our only issue was cell phone service and wifi were sketchy at best. Overall, I would highly recommend this place and my father had the best birthday ever!

Owner's Response: Dear Eilleen. Thank you for choosing our place, very pleased you and yours and especially your Dad enjoy the Farmhouse, thank you so much for following our rules and cooperating with us, our apologies, the internet, and wifi at the Farmhouse is sketchy at the best of times, is one of the reason we love and enjoy our stay there, living everything behind is something we look for way to. Again thank you, Hoping we see you again in the near future.Juanita David

Peaceful, quiet, beautiful, welcoming

  • 5 of 5

The home owner was always great with communication beforehand, and didn’t hesitate to answer any questions I had. This was the first time I rented a house for a trip through a website like this, and really didn’t know what to expect. The owner was very flexible with check-in times, which was a huge help!

When we arrived, we came in to see a little welcome booklet, clear directions on how to use the wood stove (unfortunately we didn’t have a chance to use it because of wedding stuff), and a great selection of instant breakfasts, coffees, teas, etc. for our stay! This was completely unexpected, and greatly appreciated, especially since the store is not particularly close by. They even had some fresh fruit on the table!!

The house was very clean and orderly. We had no trouble finding the rooms, all beds were made beautifully, and everyone had two very comfortable nights of sleep with enough blankets, sheets, and pillows. Even our one very tall friend who slept on the futon said he was very comfortable! The house is accurately described, and very cozy with a country feel.

It was Halloween weekend, and a bit chilly outside, but inside was quite comfortable, not too hot or too cold! The dishwasher was definitely an added bonus with the cooking we did for everyone staying with us! There is also a pond with a little bench that looks like would make a great spot to sit and read.

All in all, everyone was very happy with their stay, the owner was awesome, and I would definitely rent this house again if we had another event up this way, or even if we just wanted a quiet weekend to ourselves! Thank you for all you did to make us feel at home!!!

Fantastic, comfortable, and fully-stocked home near Elk Mountain

  • 5 of 5

My friends and I (A group of 6) stayed in Juanita's home for a weekend ski trip at Elk Mountain. We picked the home because of its relatively low cost, spaciousness, and proximity to Elk. We were not disappointed. Here are some of the highlights about the house that we really appreciated:

1) The beds were very comfortable. There were 6 beds in the house, so each person got their own bed (has never before happened on one of these trips). These were not beds that the owner purchased and placed in the home for the sake of saying they had X beds in the house on the house description. Plenty of blankets, towels, and linen to go around. I slept like a baby on mine, and was very well-rested after a day of skiing. I heard similar reviews from my friends.

2) The kitchen was fully stocked. There was almost every tool and cooking utensil that we could have asked for in the kitchen. Plenty of utensils, plates, bowls, and cups to go around as well. We fully utilized the outdoor grill during our time there. I think the built-in igniter did not work, but this was not a problem as there were plenty of lighters in the house. We did not end up using the stove in the living room, but it looked like it could have been fun.

3) Plenty of parking outside. We brought 4 cars and all four fit just fine. The drive to Elk is about 20 minutes.

Probably one of the best parts about our stay was the simplicity. The cleanup and checkout operation were very smooth and minimal on our part. We simply had to leave any used towels in the laundry baskets, take out the trash, turn off the lights, and make sure the bed sheets were turned up when we left. Extremely simple. Thank you Ron, Cathy, and Juanita! We'd definitely rent out the house again if/when we return.

Wonderful stay!

  • 4 of 5

First time using VRBO, Ron and Cathy were great at making sure our stay was perfect. Though the road was a little muddy, the house was nice and clean (despite the wasps). Our grand kids Loved the snacks that you provided, that was a nice touch!

Thanks for making our stay so comfortable!
