I love the Endless Mountains, it is one of the most beautiful places around PA to relax. The people here are friendly and you will love the snow shining like glittering gold dust. My children grew up here. Their days were filled with the richness of all the important things that matter most in life! Like the little things we take for granted, like walking barefoot in the snow, hiding themselves in the dry leaves in the fall, picking apples, blueberries and making pies, camping in the summer heat, watching the Mama Bear playing with her young cubs by the mailbox, watching the Snow White Fox strolling by like he owned our place and most certainly did. Seeing the White Teal Deer dressing our beautiful landscape. There are some wonderful little plays performances in the area that the wonderful people of Thompson, PA worked very hard to put on. They give so much of themselves to help the community and entertain everyone passing by. We have a fabulous small Antique shop here and the discoveries will mesmerize you. Here you find many simple things to do and be at peace away from the big city hustle. Time for a stroll by the trails then hop on a real hay ride by the back roads. See the sunset and feel the cool breeze of the evening then settle down with a wonderful book by the sunroom glow as the sun sets. This is one of the best things in life. So come and join us and will we tell stories long & short funny ones and sad ones too. You can create your own stories here true ones and fiction just for fun! Enjoy the beauty that surrounds you each day to the fullest!
Juanita David purchased this farmhouse in 1984
My Daughter was 4 years old and we visit PA on vacation passing by the house my daughter ask to stop. She wanted to see if the house was for sale and she fell in love with the house. As we were leaving she said to me very softly, “Mami some day we will live here." As we were leaving, she blew a kiss from doorway and destiny gathered us here. We have live here for 31 years with many adventures. Sad and happy ones too and I frankly wouldn't change a thing. The many people we met here, the countless stories, places and people now gone. Yes, what an education we acquired coming from New York City. It was extremely an experience of a lifetime! I know one thing, I Loved every minute of it! I thank God, I was given this opportunity in my lifetime, to live in such a beautiful tranquil place!
This is called God's Country, due to its natural beauty or so I was told. When I first got here from New York City, and they weren't joking -- you call on "God" here a lot, when the snow is 4 feet tall, and you are running out of wood for your stove but you survive. When you lose the electricity due to a power outage but it is repaired, when your pond freezes over and you have to carry water for a few animals you enjoy having on your land, when you go down the mountainside on your own or when you go hunting then your freezing looking for that one Deer that you need to have. When you get up in the morning and the landscape is painted by the "Hand of God" and the sunshine! You see the wild turkeys in your backyard, oh yes this is God's Country! The most beautiful place in the Universe! You will see the waterfall freeze with multi rainbow colors on them like a wonderful masterpiece painted by God almighty himself! This is what I call peace and heaven on earth.
My group (8 of us, ranging from 25-32, mostly males) stayed at this home while participating at Aftershock at EMR (paintball game) and we absolutely loved it! The house was big enough that pretty much all of us had our own beds and fit comfortably without being on top of each other and everything worked great! The home definitely has its own beautiful mountain feeling interior, so it was refreshing for a bunch of city folks from all over the east coast like we were! Filled with some much character, it truly felt like a home away from home! Thank you for opening your home to us!
We had a terrific stay here. It's a quiet, well-kept old farmhouse set in a beautiful little valley. Plenty of space, comfortable beds, lots of amenities. Lots to do in area in all seasons (Endless Mountains have same foliage as New England). Caretaker is close by and stopped by on first day just to say hi. Highly recommended.
It was a great relaxing trip in summers, place was nice and neighborhood was beautiful and calm . 4th July fireworks at fire station was bonus…
Will recommend the people
A very clean and cozy house with everything as advertised. We had a very comfortable stay while skiing at Elk Mountain. Obviously in a pretty rural area but there is a country store close by for basic necessities and also the Stoneridge Inn 20 minutes away is a fabulous place for eating out to change things up.
We are located in the beautiful Endless Mountains of Northeast Pennsylvania. Elk mountain is a peaceful ride, just 20 minutes from the house. The property is near access to Rails to Trails and The Shelly Nature Preserve is 1/2 mile away at the end of Stack Road. Both are great for hiking year round. There are numerous State Game Lands, public lakes, rivers and streams nearby. Enjoy the breathtaking views and the wonderful hospitality of the area!
