Guestbook comments from the owner

Adam, your home is a slice of heaven. We had an amazing time. You are so generous sharing it with people. I can not say enough. My only regret is that my Dad who passed in 2010 was not there. He was a Lutheran Minister but also taught dream analysis and Jungian psy. at our local universities. He would have sat next to that fire place and devoured all the books with a large glass of red bordeaux. Needless to say, the group was overwhelmed with the beauty of the home and how well the house is maintained. Great energy!! I will write a glowing review and will looking forward to returning. Thank you for your generosity.

Spectacular home and property!

  • 5 of 5

This property wildly exceed I and my group's and my expectations. The pictures do not do it justice. The property is sprawling and completely isolated, an amazing escape from the rush of the city. The house was very clean, spacious, well-kept, and stocked with everything we needed to stay comfortable during our stay.

Adam was a perfect host as well. He was extremely accommodating, kept in constant contact to keep me abreast of weather situations in the area, and responded promptly to any questions I had. We had actually planned on a ski retreat but were so comfortable and relaxed on the property that we did not want to leave, and spent the whole weekend around the fireplace or exploring the expansive property a bit. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a calm retreat, in fact my group and I enjoyed the stay so much that we are thinking about making it an annual trip!

It took me 20 hours of internet hunting to find this slice of heaven and not one moment was wasted

  • 5 of 5

It took me 20 hours of internet hunting to find this slice of heaven and not one moment was wasted. Cozy but spacious, understated but no creature comfort was denied. Oprah would be happy staying at Spruce Lake Farm. The occasion was my Mom's 85 Birthday party. My vacationing group is an Ortho surgeons dream. To date the group of 6 has had 7 hip operations, 2 knees completed and 4 more knee operations needed, couple of blood clots, bulging discs and my Senior Mother is not included in this count. I was searching for a vacation home where the group could be comfortable, entertained and able to get away from it all. Adam's house was the perfect package and went far beyond my expectations.

Bringing a good fry pan and knife are always part of my travel bag , it was not needed. The kitchen being well stocked is an understatement. There is a collection of Villeroy and Boch serving dishes that will make any foodie smile. The mattresses were wonderful. Can you imagine no one in the group complained with all those broken bodies. All got a great night sleep and of course there were numerous naps. There are two large TV sets but NOT IN THE LIVING ROOM!!! Tears of joy rain down my face. No MSNBC, Football, Dancing with the Stars or game shows in the main living area. There is a God!! The TV's are in separate parts of the building so anyone that has to connect with the crazy outside world can. That being said the internet connection was great for those of us that had to connect for work.

Four bedroom vacation homes often have inadequate seating in the living room area. One couch and one chair wasn't going to take care of my gang and sitting on the floor could have been a disaster! There is ample seating in every area of the house and deck.

Now I should share, I almost didn't rent because there are a couple of stuffed animal heads mounted in the dining room. I had been a vegetarian for 30 years and I can get a little emotional around stuffed animals. Well I decided to count the leather shoes in my closet and get over myself and I am so glad I did otherwise I would have missed the slice of heaven called the Spruce Lake Farm. Stop looking, it doesn't get better than this! And as far as the return of my security deposit. It was mailed to me within a day of our departure.

Incredible property with fantastic energy and decor.

  • 5 of 5

I could have not ask for more when booking a house to celebrate my departure from New York.

The house is simply perfect!

The only thing preventing me from writing even more amazing things about it are the chances for finding it booked if I wrote all the good qualities of it. :-)

Thank you Adam, didn't get to meet you but from your house, your books and your Art I am sure you andre a very interesting and kind person.

Thank you for letting us stay at your property.

The perfect multigenerational vacation

  • 5 of 5

"Best vacation ever" according to my 11 year old grandson. His 3 younger siblings agree as do the 7 adults and 4 dogs. The house is perfect, plenty of room for all. The beds are comfortable. The kitchen is very well stocked. We cooked all meals at home for our crowd of 11 and had plenty of pots, pans, and every utensil needed. But the star of our vacation was the lake. We brought a kayak. Everyone, including the youngest granddaughter who is 5, got to explore the lake in the kayak. The beach area was perfect for the kids and adults to swim in. The kids learned how to row a rowboat. My husband explored the whole pond with goggles and snorkel. The lawn was perfect for lawn games and we closed every day with a campfire and s'mores. We brought bikes which the adults used for rides exploring the area but the kids had plenty of biking area right around the house. The spruce forest across the lake is another great area for exploring. And just to add to the perfection, the red raspberries ripened while we were there so our mornings started off with raspberry pancakes. The owner and caretaker were helpful and responsive. The kids actually did not want to leave the property. The only touristy thing we did was visit a local farm to see the baby pigs, Dexter cows, and baby chicks. Delhi is not far away for restocking on groceries and everyone we met was friendly and helpful. We are especially greatful to the Delhi animal hospital who took care of our dog who had a bad reaction to a bee sting. They even delayed closing until we could get there. We also had a great experience with the helpful, friendly staff at the Rite- aid in Delhi. I highly recommend Spruce Lake Farm for a great family vacation.

No other place on earth, we would rather be!

  • 5 of 5

Spectacular home, magnificent view of the lake from every room, and so much to do just on the property alone. This was our family reunion of 10 adults and 6 grandchildren from 7 month's to 16 years old ! Plenty of space for all of us in the house, and how well-stocked the cupboards were made this vacation such a knock-out, fabulous time. The home was so clean, and so very comfortable for a large crowd like ours! At night we all sat around the fire pit, sang songs, toasted marshmallows, and the mountain air just lulled us all to a peaceful sleep! And having our private lake, for the grandkids, and the grown-ups with boats, and a beach area for the little ones made us feel like kings and queens! We are a hard working family, as many Americans are, so this house truly gave us the escape we needed! I want to thank Adam for all he did to make sure the week went well, and it did! And a thank you to Heinz, the caretaker, and Amy,our housekeeper for having everything ready for our stay! As you can tell, We highly recommend Spruce Lake Farm, and we plan to make this our only vacation retreat home!

Relaxing and Magical Family Christmas Break

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful, tranquil house set in acres of peaceful woodland next to a stunning lake. The house was warm, comfortable and very well equipped with loads of space for the entire extended family. We enjoyed fabulous walks with the dogs, precious holiday family time playing board games in the amazingly beautiful lounge, cooking delicious family meals (including a three course Christmas lunch!) and wonderfully silly, fun evenings toasting marshmallows and telling ghost stories around the fire pit by the lake. The sunrise behind the pine forest, and reflected in the water, are well worth waking up early for and really do set you up for a relaxing day. This is the perfect place to stop, relax and remember what is truly important in life - family. Thank you so much for a wonderful Christmas.
