Shoal Bay cottage will carry you away from the chaos of daily living and you will feel like you have stepped into another world. The peace and tranquility in this secluded setting is all about relaxation! The sound of the wind blowing through the pines and the aroma of the wooded areas and folliage adds to the Cottage experience. My favorite is early morning coffee on front porch with porch swing and two chairs with table. You will hear a rooster crowing and it is not uncommon to see a curious deer walk by. Springtime brings bursts of color and flowering dogwoods! Fall has breathtaking color perfect weather. Road to cottage is paved except for approx. 2 city blocks of dirt/gravel road. Cottage is 2 miles from Hwy 22. My country directions - when you see entrance to Shoal Bay Park, turn right on Bayview Drive, go one block turn right, still Bayview Drive, go around the curve, up the hill and it is the 3rd place on the left! 363 beside front door. No mailbox.

I lost my husband last year from a long term illness and I retired from 30 years as a medical transcriptionist. I have stayed busy the last year converting my rental into a nightly rental - Shoal Bay Cottage. This has been a dream of mine and has been a challenge, but I have enjoyed it. This cottage has a special place in my heart and I hope others can feel the peace I get when I am there. It has transformed beautifully but I will always be making improvements as I am able.
The Owner purchased this house in 1996
My husband and I bought this house 15 years ago after love at first sight. After living there for a while we moved back to town (Paris). He had a roofing business and it was difficult running it from out there. Also my six grandchildren live in Paris with many activities I attended. So - the lake house became a rental; now converted to a beautiful cottage which will accomodate two families.
Fishing, walking, boating, swimming and friendly neighbors. Everything is so close, even a good home cooking restaurant as well as a store with gas, grocery items and bait. It is secluded though in a convenient location. Walking distance to the lake/camping area. Beautiful playground, well maintained. Gorgeous sunrise and sunset over the water!
Great place to stay if in the area for fishing.
Peaceful and homely. There is a convenience store right up the road and a place that sell breakfast that is so much cheaper to pay them instead of cooking it ourselves for 6 people. The lake is less than 1/8 mile away and everybody there knows each other.
It is also located right in the middle of 2 great state parks. Mt Magazine and Mt Nebo are equally the same distance away in either direction. So, you can stay at Shoal Bat Cottage and go to each state park and save money. Deer will also pass through the backyard while you are doing the BBQ. Also, I cut up fresh watermelon and it was eaten to the whrine by morning in the backyard.
We spent 4 nights at this house and it was awesome! So much room for all of the family and all the amenities that you will need! There were six of us and we could have easily fit in 3 more people! I highly recommend this house if you have a large amount of people staying together! In addition the plus was all the wild life that came into the yard... Deer, etc..
We always have a wonderful time at Elaine's lakehouse cabin. Our family's favorite get a way spot!
A secluded, quiet place where my husband and I had a chance to reconnect after a busy season of life. There were some local eating spots that were satisfactory and the cottage is located close enough to Mount Magazine for a great hiking experience. The owner is very hospitable and gracious. The cottage is very cozy, charming and clean. You're getting more than what you pay here!
I took my girls from the youth group for a weekend retreat. The beds were very comfortable and the girls loved being able to explore without feeling lost in the woods. And because I didn't want them to have access to any distractions, the owner graciously offered to disconnect the satellite so that there would be no distractions. It was a success! Thank you, Elaine for everything.
The New Blaine Fire Department puts on an astronomical firework show on the 4th of July. This is among other activities such as beauty pageants, fish fry's, etc.
