Come enjoy a slice of island paradise on the white sands of quiet Pine Island, the only beach in Hernando County. Just bring your clothes and toothbrush and enjoy your stay in our bright, fully furnished, 1600 sq. ft. stilt island home.
Our island home is fully furnished, featuring a 55' LED HD flat screen TV (for when you aren't out enjoying Florida's Nature Coast); a fully equipped kitchen with new appliances and granite counter tops; a large dining table that seats 6 (with additional seating at the breakfast bar). The master bedroom (loft bedroom) features a private balcony that looks out to the Gulf (perfect for watching the amazing sunsets with your favorite beverage at the end of a beautiful day), a luxurious king bed and master bathroom, which includes a hair dryer...extra room in the luggage ladies ;) . The second bedroom features a queen bed, looks out to the Gulf, and is in close proximity to the guest bathroom. There is a day bed in the sitting area that has a trundle, so it can be used as two twin beds, or can easily be converted to a queen bed. Our home has an indoor washer and dryer, as well as a wood burning fireplace, perfect to cuddle up around on those chilly nights.
Begin your day with a leisurely bike ride around Pine Island, or with a cup of coffee on the large sun deck as you watch the sunrise. Continue your day by basking in the sun on your own private beach at the end of the street, reading a book or watching the dolphins play in the Gulf; or a short walk away is Pine Island Park where you can grab a bite to eat at Willy's snack bar. Visit Weeki Wachee Springs State Park and see the live mermaid show (7 miles away). Tampa (40 minutes away via the Suncoast Parkway) offers Spring Training and the Rays for baseball lovers, the Buccaneers for football fans, and Busch Gardens for thrill seekers. Orlando (approximately 2 hours via Hwy 50) offers Orlando Magic for basketball fans, Disney World/Universal Studios for the young, and the young at heart, and Sea World and numerous other water parks for cool family time. Explore the many nature trails, enjoy a round a golf...there are endless possibilities on Florida's Nature Coast! Don't forget to head back to Pine Island in time to see the most amazing sunsets anywhere. This is truly a slice of island paradise.

We chose Pine Island for it's amazing island feel. It is like being on one of the Florida Keys, only it is green, quiet, and you still have all the amenities of the big city, without having to live in the big city. You can truly feel everyday stresses float away as you make the drive down Pine Island Dr. and pull into your island home.
Pine Island is located in Central Florida, so anything from theme parks to professional sporting events, to visiting any of Florida's famous springs are just a short drive away. No one said you have to leave the island...we have the only beach in Hernando County, and because it is only a short walk from the house, there is no parking fee.
Our trip to your place in Fla. was our first "big trip" since retirement. It was wonderful! What a great place! We went hiking, biking, sightseeing, kayaking, went to orange groves, olive groves, vineyards, and ate so much seafood I thought we would get mercury poisoning. We met several of your neighbors and they are great. The weather was kind of cool when we were there, some days there was a frost. That was ok with us, it was better than the 10 to 20 degree weather and 6 to 8 inches of snow they were getting back here. Thank you for sharing your home with us. It was a great vacation.
We stayed there for a week in early March. Pine Island has about 60 homes and a wonderful small beach park about 100 yards from the house on the gulf. If you're looking for a relaxing, quiet, out of the way vacation this is it. It's about a 7 mile drive to shopping, most restaurants, pharmacy etc. There is a small fast food shack at the park and the Bayport Inn is about a 3 mile drive. Both were very good with especially large portions served at the Bayport. BeckyJack food shack is another mile or so from the house. We didn't try it, but based on the crowds as we drove by, it appears very popular, if a bit unusual.
The house and furnishings were nice .... very much as advertised. The house was clean. Met the housekeeper on day one. Nice, helpful young lady. The beds were very comfortable. Towels and linens were in good condition. The TV and WIFI operated well. All appliances and HVAC were in working order. Plenty of hot water. Nice view of the gulf from the MB balcony.
Three bikes were available but not used because of the lack of bike lanes to/from the Island. The island itself is too small for biking and there's more traffic than you'd expect because of the beach park. Five very nice kayaks were also available but we choose instead to rent one at the Kayak shack for a great trip on the Weeki Watchi river where we paddled along next to a couple large manatees. If we had a way to transport the bikes and kayaks they would have been Very useful.
The house and amenities were really nice and clean and well maintained. My wife got an upper respiratory infection after the first week and that plus the -40 degree weather kept us from enjoying the beach and other outdoor activities. We loved the food at the Bayport Inn and it was very conveniently located. The $13 each that we paid to go to Weeki Wachee State Park was an outstanding bargain!
The Mermaid show is a MUST see while staying here and we enjoyed a couple of the restaurants at Hernando Beach
We had a wonderful time at Pine Island and were very appreciative of all the "extras" the homeowners made available to us (kayaks, bikes, beach toys, etc...) We did have an issue with ants during our stay. I left a closed box of Dunkin Donuts on the counter and when I got a donut out of the box a couple of hours later the donuts were covered in ants. I would also recommend that the description of the master bedroom includes the fact that it is an open loft with no door.
I can’t speak highly enough about the amazing stay we had at this property!! We routinely travel to FLA to visit/stay with family. On this occasion, we flew in for my father-in-law’s 80th birthday. Since there were so many visitors in town, we decided to find our own place and came across this gem! It was perfect to have family come visit (all of whom were very jealous!). We took advantage of the bicycles to ride over to the beach and adventure to the adjoining peninsula off of Bayou Drive. The clear bottom kayaks were so much fun to take onto both sides of the island and see crabs, horseshoe crab, birds and all sorts of fish. The house is an absolutely perfect beach house with beautiful surroundings, lots of tropical flowers and amazing views out every window. There was a huge binder full of details that were incredibly useful. Wifi helped us stay connected and the TV was perfect for watching the World Cup matches, too. :-)
The water was 87 degrees and from the private beach, you could wade/swim for what seemed forever on the soft sandy bottom. We used the provided folding chairs and coolers to bring some cocktails to the private beach and get lost in beauty. It was the absolute perfect place to watch sunsets. If you come out after dark with a flashlight – the crabs will play hide & seek with you. :-)
This place has everything you would need to have a perfect vacation. It’s so close to all Florida has to offer, yet off the path so you feel like it’s your own personal paradise. Thank you so much Jen and Carl for your flexibility to accommodate our 5:00am arrival :-) and sharing your beautiful home with us. We will absolutely stay here again!
We arrived at dusk and couldn't believe how beautiful the house and surroundings were. I walked down to the water while my husband found the key. It was cool and the water looked unreal--it and the clouds made a scene that was unforgettable. The house was very comfortable. We ate out everyday at the wonderful seafood retaurants. One day we drove down to Sarasota to the Der Dutchman and ate there and went to a flea market advertised on their website. We went to an orange grove there and another on the way back to Pine Island. We spent a morning at Weeki Wacki. The mermaid show was fun and the riverboat cruise was exciting. The price for the state park was reasonable. It was January and the days were sometimes cold and sometimes warm. We walked to the park at the end of the street. It was well maintained. The island is very peaceful and it is so close to a busy business area if you need anything. Such a pleasant surprise. Thank you.
Great stay. Owner has kayaks and bikes on site. House was very comfortable and clean. Sunsets were beautiful. Wlak out the door to a stroll on the beach. Becky Jacks restaurant was excellent!
