About Peggy Boring
My husband and I are retired and we use the cottage to visit family and friends while in Marietta. I love people and enjoy the outdoors. My husband likes to garden and hunt. He is a retired WV coal miner of 37 years and a Viet Nam war veteran. We currently reside near Morgantown, WV.
Peggy Boring purchased this House in 2014
Why Peggy Boring chose Marietta
I fell in love with this house the minute I saw it. It was in need of TLC but was basically a one owner home of a lady who used to walk to work on the 'old' railroad bridge at historic Lafayette Hotel! We have worked very hard to bring beauty back to this home. It has been a labor of love and we love River Rock Cottage and offer it with the confidence that you will love it too!
What makes this House unique
This home is perfect for history lovers and nature lovers. The Muskingam and Ohio Rivers meet here..a 2 minute walk up the street will bring you fantastic views of this meeting!! Shopping, hiking, bike riding, swimming, antiquing, flea marketing, and dining all right at the front door!!!! A hometown feeling with so much to do!!

Great Family Weekend Getaway in Marietta
This was a great place to stay while in Marietta for the weekend. House is very clean, close to things to do and all the extras that the owners leave for you is so nice. We walked to a Ghost Tour of the Mansion very nearby, then walked to dinner at Spagna's which was absolutely great. Wonderful atmosphere, great food and so close to the house. We also had a very short walk to Busy Bee which is a must for breakfast, lunch or both. We brought bikes and rode all over Marietta. It was so much fun. We have kids ages 11, 13, and 15 and they enjoyed it as well. Their favorite thing was the Ghost Tour. We highly recommend the Ghost Tour of the mansion. They have other tours around town and i would go to those if we come back (and I hope we do) but if you can only do one, the mansion is probably the best. Check out their options online.
Clean, comfortable, convenient, and charming
The house was perfect for our small family of three. The location is tough to beat with quick and easy access to everything. The house itself was charming and the owners made you really feel welcome (groceries bought, shampoo and soaps, snacks, etc.). We’ll likely stay here every time we visit the area.
Location and ambiance....perfect !!!
If you are looking for a great getaway to Marietta, stay with Peggy at River Rock Cottage. This house is in an historic area and is walking distance to downtown and great food! You can’t beat this cottage for location ! We parked in front of the cottage and were able to walk to most of our destinations. Peggy is great to address anything you need and boy has she thought of everything for your convenience. I have never had a VRBO so well stocked for us! If you book Peggy’s cottage, you will be spoiled !!! As they say “ try it you will like it “ Thanks for everything Peggy.....we will see you again someday.

The home was in a perfect location for our needs. We can't say enough about the attention to details that the owner has taken for guests to this home. Walking distance to everything....museums, restaurants, sites, bikes, walks.....wonderful. Very clean and comfy.
Super cute house and great host
The house was adorable. Much larger than it looks. The breakfast items and snacks provided were a nice surprise. I would definitely stay here again.

Marietta was the earliest settlement in the NW Territory. There are many museums and historic homes to tour, many within walking distance. Marietta has many annual events, the most well attended being the annual Sternwheelers Festival, which draws sternwheel boats from many states. There is also a large indoor/outdoor flea market that is within walking distance of the cottage. There are also national parks and historic places in nearby Parkersburg, WV. Blennerhassett Island is a wonderful family place to visit and an easy drive and boatroad. There are numerous local fairs and festivals. Information about these can be found on Marietta, OH visitors web site http://mariettaohio.org/index.php
