The Flying H River cabin is located on 5 acres along the Colorado River. The property has over 700 feet of river frontage with numerous large pecan trees. The cabin has two bedrooms (one with queen bed and one with two twin beds). The cabin has one full bathroom and a full kitchen (dishwasher, microwave, and electric range). The cabin has air conditioning and heating and has fans in every room. There is also washer and dryer at the cabin. The cabin has a covered porch with patio furniture and an overhead fan. There is WIFI on the property and a TV with DVD.
On the property, you can enjoy fishing on the Colorado River, Kayaking, Camping, campfires, and many other outdoor activities.
The property is located minutes away from the San Saba River Golf course. The San Saba Golf course is nestled along the San Saba River and provides a wonderful golf experience for a very reasonable price.
The Colorado Bend State Park is only 18 miles from the Flying H River Cabin. The park provides hiking and biking trails, waterfalls, and caverns (including Gorman Falls) to explore with the family.
There are several wineries located close to the Flying H River Cabin including The Wedding Oak Winery, Alamosa Wine Cellars, Fiesta Winery, and others. Each of these wineries have tastings, events, and entertainment areas.
The charming town of San Saba has several shops, restaurants, and even the Wedding Oak Winery located in the downtown area. There are also Mill Pond Park and Risien Park located in town which are both great places to visit and explore.
From the start of our communications with Matt, he was very helpful, informative and quick to respond to any questions or concerns we had. The Flying H is a private little hideaway perfect for just getting away from it all. The cabin was clean and comfortable and the heater kept us nice and toasty during our stay. The instructions on locating and accessing the cabin were clear and concise. Just a short drive to San Saba for restaurants, wineries and shopping. Thanks, Matt, for a wonderful stay.
Matt is super friendly and helpful. The property gives privacy and the house is everything we hoped for and some! He allowed us to use his canoe to access the Colorado. We fished- caught white bass, blue catfish, channel catfish and a gar! Saw a little wildlife and almost no people. Perfect!
The property is really pretty....right on the river with tons of pecan trees, native grasses and shrubs. It is next to highway 190 just below the bridge that runs over the Colorado River. This makes for a slightly less-secluded feel, but truly, the place has plenty of privacy. We enjoyed having a fire in the fire pit and sitting out on the covered front deck.
The house itself is simple, clean, and comfortable. The windows that line the living room make for a great view down onto the river, overlooking the fire pit. I recommend bringing everything you might need to cook. There are pots and pans, plates and glasses, and utensils...most of what you need, but not a whole bunch. However, bring salt and pepper, spices, or anything else you might need to finish your recipe.
The owner, Matt was super accommodating. He was prompt in his replies to any questions, etc. Check in/out was very simple.
San Saba is a charming town nearby with a brewery, winery, great coffeehouse, and some other restaurants/shops to peruse. There are several wineries in the area, though we didn't vist them. Colorado Bend State Park is just down the road, and it is beautiful with tons of trails to hike, including one that leads to a waterfall.
I highly recommend this private getaway! We'll be returning in the future.
