About Robert

I grew up and live in the New York City area and have many years experience renting out vacation properties. I have many very satisfied customers over these years. My local property manager is very experienced, helpful and knowledgeable, and is fluent in five languages. We work together to promptly address any issues that might arise during your stay and strive to keep the villa in tip top shape at all times.

Robert purchased this villa in 2014

Why Robert chose Sosua

This property is unique for a villa in Residencial Casa Linda in that it feels more like a tropical home than simply a villa with a pool. The property gently slopes in back, adding to the uniqueness. There are lovely mango, coconut and other fruit trees surrounding the patio and pool. Unlike other villas where the pool is almost on top of the house, this villa's pool is a short walk down towards the back of the property, giving it the feeling of a small lake. The property is at the end of a cul-de-sac so you have excellent privacy and can leave your front and back doors open to bring in the breezes. You get the feeling of living in a secluded topical garden along with the security of staying in a very safe 24 hour secured community.

At night time, the villa grounds are enchanting! We recently added quite of bit of nice custom outdoor lighting.

The villa, a custom "Yasmin" design, is very nice architecturally, as it features very high pitched ceilings and tall and interestingly shaped windows, along with the extra bedroom and bathroom downstairs.

Inside the villa is lovingly furnished with quality furniture, much of it manufactured locally, and also decorated with lovely original local art work. It feels like a home, not a cheaply furnished rental. (After all, the villa is our home away from home, as well as serving as an income property.) The bathrooms are all oversized as well. The beds are all new, top of the line and extremely comfortable. In addition, the kitchen has been newly renovated with stone counters and the villa was repainted inside and out.

What makes this villa unique

The free shuttle buses to the beach, town, and Cabarete run all through the day and leave just a two minute walk from the villa! Also, newly upgraded internet is much faster and reliable than the typical service provided in the community! TV's in all of the rooms!

I had a pleasant week stay at this villa.I would definitely recommend

  • 5 of 5

I stayed at the villa with a buddy of mine for six nights an for us all was well never had a need to call property manager for anything. If you never stayed at Casa Linda there is no safer place you could stay. Security is excellent here. For the price of the villa I would have to give it 5 stars

In Love

  • 5 of 5

I stayed here for 3 nights with my husband. The village was exceptionally clean, and it's locale near to Cabarete ideal for an exciting nightlife time. Lovely pool and well maintained, extremely clean, very private back yard. I perfect place for a romantic stay or family/friends vacations. I would highly recommend it, the location is under surveillance 24/7, we felt secure all the time. I'm actually in the process to do another reservation to go with my friends. See you soon!!!!!!!:)

great place

  • 5 of 5

Great place at a great price! I dont understand some of the complaints from other people who stayed here. Barking dogs? Theres barking dogs everywhere in the dominican republic lol i heard a few dogs but not to the point where it was disturbing. The house is cozy n very safe. The property manager (forgot his name lol) was very nice n cooperative n the grounds in fantastic shape. Pool was nice n big enough. You cant beat this place for the price!! Way better than staying in a resort.

Nice residential community

  • 3 of 5

We spent a month at this villa, the pool, patio and private yard was beautiful. Any issues we had were promptly looked after. The villa was spacious for four people, nice private bedrooms and bathrooms. The kitchen was a bit dated and could use an update, but functionable. We felt very secure in the gated community. The free shuttle service to Sousa and Caberete was fantastic. The biggest issue was the villa bordered the outside perimeter of Casa Linda and the neighborhood dogs barked quite often and many times during the night.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review. I am glad that you found the villa comfortable, clean and accommodating and enjoyed the gardens, patio and pool areas. I would like to comment on the noise you heard at night from the neighborhood dogs. The villa is in a very quiet part of Casa Linda that gets perhaps the least amount of noise from within the community but as you noted, one can hear some neighborhood dogs, mostly from outside of the community, sometimes at night. This is common almost everywhere in the Dominican Republic. When staying here, I (a light sleeper) have slept with the windows closed (and the air conditioning on) and have always slept through the night without being disturbed by noises. I would note for other potential guests that the ac units are inverter units with thermostats and fan speeds. Hence, it is possible to set the units for a specified desired temperature and use it even on cooler nights. Also, the largest bedroom faces away from the borders of the community. Hence, if say one couple or individual wishes to sleep with the windows open that couple or individual could use the largest bedroom and the others could use one or both of the other two bedrooms. Update on the dogs as of May, 2016: I have just stayed in the villa and am happy to report that the dogs seem much quieter than before. Great news--There is now a brand new kitchen with quartz countertops! Sincerely, Robert the Owner

Okay, but could be better

  • 3 of 5

This property was okay, but definitely not as great as I was expecting. We live in the country, and have stayed several places....I probably wouldn't choose this one again, although it was not terrible.

The negatives:

-We couldn't get in touch with the person who was supposed to unlock the house. We waited around for quite a while, after already not being able to check in until 4.

-Pool is much smaller than expected and covered by trees. It was way too cold to swim in! That was pretty disappointing.

-Both the outdoor shower and one of the indoor showers were broken. You could still shower, but the shower heads were broken off.

-The kitchen is obviously what they skimped on the most, and smells pretty gross in the cabinets. Also, not stocked very well with kitchen utensils...the ones that were there were pretty dirty.

-There were some pieces of trash on the front and back lawns when we arrived.

-Toilet paper and soap is not provided! Bring your own! We were unpleasantly surprised!

-Loud animals around. Lots of barking dogs...and I'm pretty sure someone next door owned a parrot that squawked constantly. Bring ear plugs if that bothers you! It woke everyone up early in the morning.

-The neighborhood was very difficult to find...either take a taxi or make sure you have great directions.

-Bad internet connection.

The positives:

-They do provide a shuttle to the beach.

-The bedrooms were nice and air conditioned, beds were nice and clean.

-Bathrooms were very clean as well.

-Furniture outside the pool is nice to lay on. That patio is in the sun, unlike the pool.

-Area seemed safe and well-guarded if that is a concern to anyone.

-Drinking water was provided when we arrived...there was more than enough for our entire stay.

Overall review: I would recommend with some reservations. Many of the complaints we had could be fixed with some maintenance to the house. I will probably just stay at The Nanny in Cabarete next time. It was a better place for the money than this was, in my opinion!

Owner's Response: I am glad that you liked the bedrooms, bathrooms, free shuttle, security, and furniture. I also appreciate your taking the time to tell me of some problems that you encountered. I would like to address your criticisms. My property manager told me that he arrived at the Casa Linda office at the appointed time, 4PM and waited until 4:30 PM. Later, he heard from you and headed back there after you contacted him later. We are flexible with allowing early check-in and check-outs when possible, but in this case there were 5 people staying at the villa the prior night and leaving at noon, and I had to stick to the posted 4 PM check in time. I apologize that the shower heads on one of the three indoor showers was missing and also on the outdoor shower. Three new shower heads have been purchased and installed. I am sorry about the utensils being dirty. I have instructed the cleaner to check on this when she cleans and if needed to wash the utensils. Since your stay we have purchased all new kitchen utensils, glassware, linens and towels. I apologize for the lack of toilet paper. My property manager emailed me the day you arrived that he had brought over toilet paper, but perhaps he had not put them in the rolls in the bathrooms. I have instructed him to double check that there is toilet paper hanging in each bathroom in the future, as well as keeping an adequate supply in the villa. I will also ask him to be sure that there is soap when people arrive. I believe that it had been cloudy and rainy for some time when you arrived, and this may have contributed to the pool being too cold for you to swim in. Since your stay I have cut back some of the trees and now there is more sun on the pool. I've always found the pool large enough to enjoy. I would say that it is medium sized--not at all small, though it is not super large either. It is a private pool and is quite roomy for up to 6 people that the villa can sleep. I am happy to report that I have upgraded the internet to a different service than what the community provides. It is now much faster and reliable. I have asked my property manager to provide me with clear written directions to Casa Linda and I will send this to future guests upon request. Neither I nor my guests have ever been awakened by barking dogs, though I've occasionally heard some barking for brief periods.--Robert (Owner)
