I retired from St. Petersburg Police after serving 27 years, starting in the early's 1970s, when female patrol officers were just being allowed to work on the streets.
I raised 2 wonderful daughters and now have 5 cool grand kids (3 of them teens).
My hobby in my younger years was sky diving and I still occasionally scuba dive.
Travel is a passion of mine, so I have been to all 7 Continents and all 50 United States. I'm also interested in archaeology and sometimes volunteer on digs at different locales.
Offering this vacation rental to travelers is an opportunity to serve as host for folks who share that travel passion. I live in the house right next door, so I'm readily available to help guests with any questions or problems that might arise.
My 96 year old mom still owns the home and she is proud to offer it to others as a comfortable home away from their home. She now lives in a lovely assisted living facility nearby and will use funds from the rental to help pay for her care.
Paula Zitzelberger purchased this house in 1946
The home's history: At the end of WW II, my newly married parents bought this home brand new. During the War, Dad was an infantry soldier and medic in the Pacific, and Mom was studying to be a cadet nurse. When they met at war's end, they both claimed it was mutual love at 1st sight, and married 10 weeks later. Together over the years they creatively decorated, enlarged, and improved the house, ran their own small business downtown, raised my brother and I, and retired, never leaving their original honeymoon home. There are touches from the '40s through the '90s throughout, which gives the place a charming and comfortable feel.
